It's a rosehip so not quite exotic ;D

  2. I cannot decide if the shot fascinates me or frightens me (the seeds look a little like mini teeth). x

    1. I had the same feelings with this shot ;D
I wasn't even sure whether to post it, but then thought it'll be a talking piece if nothing else.
I thought the seeds looked like teeth too.
Thanks for stopping by to leave a lovely comment that made me smile.
I hope the week ahead is a good one for you. Enjoy!

  3. I was thinking same as Sarah they look like little teeth and are rather scary. But the colours and plants in background look lovely with the sun.

    1. I've got a few different shots of these fruits in various stages of ripeness Nicola. The one I've posted was the ripest and obviously the most tastiest! ;D
But I have to admit I was bothered about those teeth! hehe
Thanks for your visit and comment.

    1. I was driving out of the supermarket car park when I spotted the rose hips. Re-parking, I jumped out to snap some shots. I've got them in various stages of ripeness but the one I've posted was the ripest and obviously someone knew it ;D
I have to admit I wasn't sure whether to post it or not, but I knew that it would cause comments if nothing else.
I hope you've had a lovely weekend and have a fun packed week ahead.

  6. Is that the inside of a chilli? It looks so intricate and the red is brilliant.

    1. No sorry Tas, it's not a chilli... it was a rose hip.
The rose hip, also known as rose haw or rose hep, is the fruit of the rose plant, that typically is red-to-orange, but ranges from dark purple to black in some species.
I've read since taking the photo, that the syrup from the rose hip keeps well in the fridge. It is especially good on pancakes or to sweeten teas too.
Thanks for stopping by my place and I wish you a great week ahead.

    1. It's a rose hip Sarah,
A very ripe (scary) half eaten one ;D
Here's a few facts about the rose hip...
It is the fruit of a rose. The wild dog rose is the type of rose most often cultivated for their hips. This plant grows up to ten feet tall and bears a white, very fragrant flower. Once the flower has bloomed, and all the petals have fallen off, the hip is picked and used in a wide variety of preparations. Rose hips are the best source of vitamin C; they contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges. A single tablespoon of the pulp gives an adult more than the recommended daily allowance of 60 mg. They can be eaten raw, after being put through a blender, or soaked in water overnight and then cooked in the water for about half an hour. Because of the high vitamin C content they are an excellent immune system booster, and are often used as a supplement to prevent or treat a cold. The pulp from rose hips may be used in sauces or made into jelly.
Rose hip keeps well in the fridge. It is especially good on pancakes or to sweeten teas too.
Thanks so much for your visit and comment.
      Have a great week
