Une journée de ski froid au Québec...(A chilly day skiing in Québec)

Did you see the full moon last night?
It was magnificent, lighting all around with its magical band of silver light making everything twinkle.
I wanted to go outside to capture the image properly, but thought better of it.
I knew that if I did I'd become waist deep in snow with my first footfall.
At 2.30am I didn't think that this would be a good idea...not without a life line attached to my body anyway!

So apologies for the grainy photo but it was just to give you the idea.
Besides there could be wolves in them there woods and my jacket is RED!!!
'OOOoooowwwwww...'

When a new day dawns there's new challenges...
Christmas
Skiing
Hot tub
Sauna......hmm
Still to do I'm afraid, but I'll get there.
I just need to find some time from somewhere!
Besides the guys keep coming to clear the path so I think it's expected!

Today was rather chilly on the slopes.
-14 degrees with a touch of fog.
Not for the faint hearted that's for sure.
All this winter activity is serious stuff and needs proper care and attention in the thermal department.
I now say forget how they look...bring them on...the more the merrier ;D

With that kind of temperature it's not ideal conditions but for a few hours we ignored it.
Besides you can always nip into the bar to help thaw out in-between runs.

I loved this wreath in keeping with the skiing theme.
It's quite large and hangs on the outside wall of the resort's restaurant.

Pick a pair any pair...and we're off.....
Oh by the way...if anyone has a tip for how to put on ski boots easily, then please let me know.
I'm very near done by the time I've got them on never mind flinging myself down the mountain!
Anyway...up, up and away....

But after a few runs it just became too cold.
It was serious because I lost the feeling in my face and could hardly talk!!!
I KNOW ~ that serious! https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511767.gif

The three photographs below were taken on our homeward journey yesterday, hence no mistiness.
Just beautiful sunlight signing off for the day.

The line of snow on the horizon that you see from my side window, looks like a wall all the way along the road. It's actually been produced by the snow plough.
I have to say that the Canadian's certainly know a thing or two about snow clearance.

Before I head off to snoozeyland I must tell you about a strange square box that is sitting in the corner of the lounge here...someone said it was called a television or TV or something???!?!?
We haven't bothered to find out what it's for...I don't think we will either because we just haven't found the time. I don't think we need it, so it'll just gather dust for now :D

Catch you later peeps...the meantime have fun! Party smile

    1. Morning Laurie,
Yep chilly and there's lots of that white stuff still out there. I don't think it'll be going anywhere until at least April!!! ;D

It's surreal to think that we are nearer each other now and experiencing the same weather, after chatting for so many months from the other side of the world.
Lots of skiing and especially the double session of night time skiing last night (but not for me) seems to have taken its toll on the bodies...it's all very quiet here this morning! It's hard work for the young and fit!!!

After some visiting I think I may have a play with my new art supplies. There's only one page of the journal touched so far.
I have to confess I'm missing the birds and wildlife...I've only seen three crows and 'Nutkin' since I got here.

Have a wonderful day in your nest my little chickadee. Stay cosy and warm and I'll pop over to you soon. :D

    1. Well Marie I'd pack your warmest gear...with numerous thermals cos it's might chilly. The reports are that Friday could dip to -24 but then that's here of course.

Your skiing adventure sounds similar to my first one in Austria many years ago...but is still very vivid in my memory! ;D
We'll have to exchange stories one day or maybe I should post mine as it's all within the theme at the moment. It certainly would give everyone a laugh!

I'm not sure when you travel but I wish you a safe journey.
      Take care xoxo

  3. If you have the sauna, don't forget that you are then supposed to flagellate yourself with birch twigs and plunge into a lake through a hole in the ice... :)

    1. To put it politely Mark...'ON YOUR BIKE'!!!
If I'd have to do that, then the sauna won't see me anytime soon ;D

I can only just make out the lake or I assume it's the lake because that's where it used to be.
The snow is so deep on the path down to the lake (in fact everywhere) that we'd have to attach safty lines if we wanted to risk getting down there. Full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) would be in order! ;D

Have a great New Year celebration. Best wishes for 2013 to you, Jane and all of your family :D

  4. Wow Neesie, you had me confused for a moment... I've heard of climate change, but had to do a double take to make sure you weren't getting heavy snowfalls in Australia in the middle of the summer lol lol!! It all looks absolutely gorgeous... Hope you are having a really great time. Here in the UK we've got rain, rain and yet more rain... we are all heartily sick of it, and feel so much for all those people who've been flooded out.

Thanks for your lovely comment. I've edited the step-outs for my new pattern somewhat, because as it stood, it was not acceptable on the Tangle Patterns site because it had construction grids that needed erasing, but hopefully it will be more acceptable now. Whatever happens, I feel very excited at having designed my first tangle!! You should give it a go - your drawings are awesome.

    Happy new year.

    1. Sorry for the delay in my response to your comment Shoshi and also to any confusion caused. I've felt confused myself at times over the last few weeks with such differences. It's all been very surreal. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we decided to come to a Canadian winter from an Australian summer.
Last night the temperature here plummeted to -25 whilst in Melbourne it reached +39! How bizarre is that?

We have had such a wonderful time here though...it's been like a picture perfect Christmas card wonderland. I've never seen such beautiful snow, scenery and the goregously decorated houses and buildings.

Unfortunately we will be leaving soon and I'm wondering how we will cope with the transition. I don't think we could have picked further contrasted if we'd have tried.

I hope your New Year has started well and just gets better each day. :D

  5. Looooooooove the snowy pictures, you have to get to the sauna though! It looks so cute! As for skiing, it's highly over rated while being a snow bunny takes a lot of talent...so just look good in the nice warm ski lodge...pretend you've been out there in that cold weather! lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

    1. You are a sneaky bunny Sandee, I never thought of that...I've been flinging myself down the mountain all for nothing when all the time I could have been in the bar! NOW YOU TELL ME! :$

I've now even developed a limp which makes me look at Granny instead of a snow kitten as Darnell described me! LOL

I hope your New Year has started well and just gets better every day!
Waving from the sofa at the log cabin by the lake with my knee elevated! ;D

    1. OH ALICE YOU'RE BACK! :D
It's so lovely to see you again. I didn't realise that you'd actually lost me, but I'm really happy that you've found me again! ;D
I had similar things happen to me where all of a sudden it would occur to me that I hadn't seen a post from a particular blog for some time and I'd have to go in and look for it.
I'm not sure why or how that happens but it does from time to time.

Anyway, no harm done and here we are...so I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year has started well. Let's hope it just gets better with each day and ends up being the best one yet with lots of creativity thrown in!

See you soon...I want to check out your cool changes ;D

    1. Apologies for my delay in replying to your comment Margaret,
I've been too busy enjoying what will be my last few days here in winter wonderland!
Yep we're to leave -25 degrees and head back to Oz for +39 degrees!!!
Have you any ideas on how we will manage without melting?

I hope your New Year has started well and just gets better with each day. Happy 2013!

  8. Love the moon pic!! We know a lot about snow removal here in Minnesota and North Dakota, too--LOL! But you have us beat up there in the snow department this winter so far. What a gorgeous spot you have in the woods there.

I'd pass on the skiing. I can't even stand up on ice skates and fared no better on skis. Fun to sit in the chalet, though, by the fire and read a good book. ;)

    The sauna is beckoning you!!

    1. If only I'd ventured out to take a proper photo of the moon Rita then you would really be impressed but it was just toooooo cold!
I can imagine you've had quite a bit of experience with snow management LOL
I'm passing on the skiing just now as I've developed a limp from twisting my leg...which couldn't possibly be from a fall on the slopes because I'm an expert! ;D (wink wink)
So I'm doing just as you suggest...sitting by the fire with a good book and drawing periodically. Perfect!

It was -25 last night so I haven't braved that sauna still and I'm running out of time!

I hope your New Year is right on track...bringing you and Karma everything you would need and want! :D
