Morning Peeps...and fellow WOYWWer's as it's Wednesday!
You are going to be so impressed with me today...not because I've been super clever, talented, artistic or for any other reason other than this is going to be the shortest post EVER!
(Hopefully a gold star potential)
So to make sure I keep my word...quickly here's my very temporary desk but at least there's something on it.
Nothing much has changed in the room but hey ho it will one day.
This week I finally got a little time to start painting colour on some of my thistle cards...plus I spent a very enjoyable evening in here whilst my boys watched, shouted and screamed at the television whilst watching football in the lounge.
I lit the fire and settled down to a little sketching time...in fact I only sketched for one half of the match, but it did feel good to get back to it!
I think I'll be using footy time for further art sessions.
Everyone's happy!
I've been wanting to draw a Puffin since I saw a programme about them shortly after returning to Scotland.
It was all about Pufflets and I was hooked as soon as I heard the word...'Pufflet'!
I'm sort of a Pufflet myself these days!
Well winters coming so stock up I say ;D
Apologies for the photo below because it was quite late when I took it.
As you can see the fire has died down because I'd been so engrossed.
As you can see the fire has died down because I'd been so engrossed.
So there you have it...my desk this week.
If you want to see lots of other desks from around the globe just nip over to Julia over at Stamping Ground.
Thanks for stopping by...it's always great to have visitors.
Apologies because all of the Apple and Blackberry crumble has gone, but there maybe a slice of Treacle and Ginger Cake left if you hurry!
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone
Toodleloo for now
Lovely to see your pictures, I bet you are feeling the change of temperature. I know I am. But something about being all cozy with fluffy layers seems appealing. Oh and add a hot chocolate too! I don't autumn/winter really, I just wear more & add thermals to those layers!! Hoping we don't need thermals just yet though!! Enjoy your week and the weekend lovely. Take care Zo xx 78
ReplyDeleteI am indeed feeling the difference but only over the last few days thankfully. Before that the weather has been fantastic.
DeleteI suppose it had to end sometime.
My hands are refusing to work as they should today, but the sun is shining so that's a bonus!
Sorry to report my thermals came out of the cupboard this morning!
That's obviously just between you and me though ;D
Have fun this week too...enjoy WOYWW and thanks for stopping by
xoxo
Really lovely artwork. You certainly do have a real talent.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and hope you have a great weekend
Candac #60
Aww thanks Candace, your comment made me smile ;D
DeleteI hope you have a great week and an even better weekend.
Thanks for popping over to my place.
Happy WOYWW :D
Fab puffin - isn't it funny how pufflets don't look like puffins at all! x Jo
ReplyDeleteI love them both...they are just so darned cute especially when they walk! ;D
DeleteLovely to have you visit my space Jo...enjoy your week.
xoxo
Amazing work on your temporary desk. Always lovely to hear the different things your are up to on the other side of the world. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteSandra @90
Thanks Sandra...it's always great to have you come over to visit! ;D
DeleteHave a lovely week too whatever is on your plan.
Enjoy xoxo
Nessie your puffin drawing is just delightful you are a talented lady, but I know that already as I have one of your calendars
ReplyDeleteJackie31
Scrapbangwallop
Oh yes that's right...I hope you have enjoyed all of the designs.
DeleteMaybe I should be thinking about doing another for next year...but it would have to have a Scottish theme to it!;D
Hmmm...you've got me thinking now Jackie.
Enjoy WOYWW and thanks for stopping by my place
xoxo
Ok now I have to go research the diff between Pufflets and Puffins based on a comment above. Anyway, fab drawing so close the actual...that's scary talented! Love the mouth full of sardines! Thistles are looking pretty fab too. No thermals here but did turn on the space heater the other night. wink wink hugs Happy WOYWW! Nan G #3
ReplyDeleteWell just a minute before you go Nan...the baby puffins are actually called Pufflings and not my own word of Pufflets!
DeleteApologies if you've been trying to find out about pufflets :$
Thanks for your compliments on my drawing and cards ;D
Shhh...(in a hushed voice) thermals are on here! (Gasp) but then I have come from Australia so I think that's okay.
It could be a long winter at this rate.
Happy WOYWW to you too.
xoxo
I always learn something when I read your posts and I love that. I've never heard of a puffin before. My curiosity will now have me read about them. Your drawing is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely to hear that you enjoy and learn from my posts ;D
DeleteI'm a happy bunny now with a grin on my face, especially as you liked my drawing too ;D
To help you further here's a link to the BBC which is always a good place to start with your research.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by
xoxo
ooo, I like very much, beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Laurie :D
DeleteI saw another programme about kingfishers and now I want to create a silk painting. They have amazing colours which would be just perfect for the silks.
Enjoy the day and thanks for visiting
xoxo
Wow, what a gorgeous Puffin you made! I wish I had that talent. Your floral cards are amazing too! Enjoy the day! Winnie#83
ReplyDeleteYou are too kind Winnie...thank you so much for your lovely comment. I really appreciate it ;D
DeleteThanks for popping by and I hope you enjoy your day too
xoxo
Hi Neesie! I love your blog! That puffin is wonderfully done, aren't they the loveliest of creatures? I think your thistles are great too! Thank you so much for stopping by my washing machine top earlier! I'll make a special point of popping in next Wednesday! Nice to have met you! Julie Ann xx #45
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment Julie Ann ;D
DeleteI don't always make WOYWW desk hop even when I have the best intensions. I'm hoping to reassess my art sessions and be more productive.
Good luck with relocating from the washing machine.
Have a great week
xoxo
Loving the pufflings! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds crafting in the warmth of the lounch with your family! Have a great day. Helen 22
ReplyDeleteMe too Helen, the tv programme was asking the public to be careful in one particular car park because the pufflings had been blown there and were disorientated!
DeleteSo cute :D
Yep, I was lovely and cosy but the boys were in another room thankfully out of earshot!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by...it's always great to see you
xoxo
Beautiful, professional looking job of coloring in those thistles! And a great job sketching the pufflet. I happen to one of those too, but I don't usually eat giant mouthfuls of minnows at all once. Happy crafting.
ReplyDeleteOh many thanks for that lovely praise ;D
DeleteYou have me smiling from ear to ear!
I'm not partial to minnows either...more Chocolate, Crumble and Cake! (:O)
Have fun desk hopping. It's always great to have you pop in.
xoxo
I always enjoy your art. I need a closer look at the thistle cards you are coloring though. Do you print them in b/w and individually hand color them (it appears so). Great idea.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Morning Darla,
DeleteI have actually drawn and coloured each one of these cards individually! Crazy but true!
The previous black and white zentangley designed cards that I had in my Etsy shop had been drawn and then printed, but I haven't got a new printer yet...one for my list of to do's along with 64 other items at least! ;D
I hope your week is going well with lots of creativity :D
xoxo
Hi Nessie
ReplyDeleteI am loving all the drawings on your desk they are wonderful and when they have all been coloured they would make for some great cards
Have a great day today and a wonderful weekend
Ria #61
Hi Ria,
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment.
I enjoyed drawing and painting the cards but they are so late that I think it might be too late to send them out now!
I hope you have a great day too with a wonderful weekend to follow.
Enjoy :D
xoxo
Fabulous puffin, Neesie. Lovely thistle pictures, too. Glad you are finding the time to create. You are not alone in feeling the change in weather - we have the heating on, as hubby - john-w - is really feeling the cold. He can't move about quickly, so doesn't have that excuse to keep warm!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Margaret #70
Thanks Margaret, I'm happy to hear you liked my drawings etc ;D
DeleteYes finally I'm being tough and making sure I at least get some time each day to do some art...even if its just a quick sketch.
It's far too easy to let everything else take priority. There's always so much for me to do since we've moved back here.
Not that I'm complaining but you know how it feels when you can't get to be creative :(
Glorious sunny day again yesterday but the fire was lit and gently keeping the chills at bay. I definitely shut down if I get too cold...and probably snappy too!
I hope John-w and yourself can keep cosy.
Have a great week too with hopefully lots of creativity!
xoxo
I have found when the football is on the perfect time to craft in my house too Neesie. Your thistle cards are coming along so nicely and I am loving your fabulous sketch of the puffin. Hope you have a great week! Danie #38
ReplyDeleteHello Danie,
DeleteI can't think why I didn't think of creating art whilst footy was on before...I'd have had hours and hours of creativity if I had! D-ah!
My hubby and son used to get up at silly-o-clock to watch a match when we lived in Australia, but now we're in the same time zone it's so much better and will be perfect if I use that time for art! ;D
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment.
I hope you have a great week too.
xoxo
Hi Neesie!! I've missed you and your beautiful tangles!! I see you are now drawing gorgeous pictures! I can not tell which puffin is the real one!! Love the word Puflet too! I think I'm gong to keep saying it out loud because it is that fun!!
ReplyDeleteYour other art is awesome as well!! But you already know that!!
And...I hope I am not asking a stupid question but...
Why the picture of garlic on your sidebar?
xxDaniella#19
Aww Daniella, you say the nicest things...thank you so much ;D
DeleteI very often have my own words for things, especially the swear words. I've never used swear words in front of my children. They're 21 and 28 now and I still haven't. I use similar but safe words and I have to say it's worked well over all of these years!
Those puflets or pufflings are just too cute!
To answer your question...the garlic is to warn off vampires of course!!! HAHAHA!
No seriously, it was a photograph that I used for my second zentangle design. I just loved it and since I put it there it's just stayed.
My sidebar is something that needs attention but it's about number 165 on my to-do-list so it maybe some time before I get to it.
Have a wonderful week and an even better weekend.
Hopefully with lots of creativity :D
xoxo
Treacle and Ginger cake?? Did someone say Ginger... ooooh such a sucker for that spicy goodness. I'll have it in tea form, cake form, chocolate covered form.... ahem... I digress.
ReplyDeleteYour Puffin is such a sweetie. They are such crazy looking birds aren't they? When I saw it I thought of the BBC Attenborough Documentary "Birds" - I'm sure you've seen it but if you have not well then you're in for a visual treat. In fact I'm sure you'll even be inspired with some new subject matter.
Cuddles to Muffin and a super cosy weekend to you... ♥
Yes I know Angy...yummy Treacle and Ginger cake which like the crumble is mysteriously disappearing by the minute ;D
DeleteI may post the recipe if I make it again...which is probably a dead cert by the reaction it has received.
It's a tray bake so it's easy and goes a long way when cut into little squares that just accompany a cuppa perfectly! ;D
Sorry I digress too...
I adore David Attenborough and all of his documentary's are sublime, so you've reminded me of 'Birds' and I think I'll have to revisit it now!
I saw a great tv programme about the country-side (it's new so keep an eye out for it in case it comes your way) It had some amazing footage of a beautiful kingfisher (not sure if you have them over your way or if so, if they are the same as ours) They have such spectacular colours and I thought they would make a fantastic silk painting...yet more to put on my to-do list! Ho hum :/
Lovely to see you and I your wish for a cosy weekend seems to have worked...word is that we are to have 20 whole degrees on Sunday. We could be the warmest place in the UK! Incredible eh?
We might even get to eat Sunday Lunch outside for yet again the last time this year...we keep saying that!
Muffy says thanks for her cuddles...she's a sucker for them ^..^
Have a great weekend and remember to have fun! xoxo
So glad to see that you are back into your art and, as usual, they are beautiful - just adore the puffin. What brilliant excuse to not watch football and they wouldn't even notice you are missing Hehe.
ReplyDeleteKeep cosy xoxo
How right you are...they only came to find me when it was half-time. I suppose I should be flattered that they came to find me at all.
DeleteIt definitely worked well, so I will be doing that again. In fact there's so much footy on at the moment, I will be getting an amazing amount of artwork done.
I'm beginning to think that this new telly only shows footy! I must check it out ;D
Thanks for popping all the way over here. It's a good job the kettles just boiled.
Have a great week whatever you get up to.
Chat again soon xoxo
If the footy is the one that gets you creating then go for it. Usually I am working at the footy to get it onto your TVs' well here in Australia LOL and that is the AFL Footy sometimes the soccer, tennis, rugby, cricket, gosh the list goes on. Your cards are really beautiful, keep up the great work and thanks for popping by to say hi.
ReplyDeleteHugs Eliza & Yoda 52
Belated WOYWW
I always used to think of you Eliza when we had the footy on whilst in Melbourne ;D
DeleteYou are a busy bee for sure with all of that sport!
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop and leave me a comment. I really appreciate it.
Hugs to you and Yoda of course ^..^
Have a great weekend especially if you've managed to get a little time off.
xoxo
Dear Neesie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words on my weblog http://kleurrijkaquarellen.blogspot.nl/
I was searching on your weblog and I like it very much. Your drawings and paintings, your little dog and your pies. So I reallylike to come back.
Specially I like WOYWW. I never heard of it. I am enthousiastic about it and started with it. Thanks to you!!!!!
Have a nice day Geri
Hello Kleurrijk,
DeleteIt's wonderful to see that you have decided to follow me. I get extremely excited when I see a new follower ;D
I hope that you'll have many enjoyable visits to my space.
Have a wonderful weekend with lots of fun
xoxo
Hi Neesie,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are settling right in. I love the puffin! So darned cute.
I'm finally re-joining WOYWW and hopefully I'll continue on a regular basis.
Happy WOYWW
Kay (34)
Hi there Kay,
DeleteIt's so good to see you once again. I did pop over to you yesterday actually, but when I went to leave a comment my internet was playing up. It carried on all evening so I finally gave up :$
These things are great when they work but oh my...when they don't!!!
Anyway, I'm happy to hear that you are back with the WOYWW gang. I'm sort of hit and miss so will see you as and when ;D
Just in case you missed McMuffy playing with Zac...just head back to my last post ^..^
Muffy says 'Hi' by the way.
Happy WOYWW to you too...enjoy
Hi Nessie, Love your Thistle cards...they sure remind me of home & my childhood My Mum used to wear a thistle brooch on her coat..lOVE your work & the Puffin is fabulous... sending cuddles to Muffin.... Hugs May x x x
ReplyDeleteHello May,
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment...but then you always do ;D
My Mum had a similar brooch too by the sound of it but also a horrible one which was a white birds foot. Yuk! I'm not sure what poor bird was...I just hated it!
Anyway enjoy your weekend and we are in for a warm one by the sound of it. A whole 20+ degrees! Whoohoo.
'They have even menitoned that Aberdeen might be the warmest in the UK!
Maybe you need to come on home?
xoxo
I am late, but I love it that you have a spot now!! Football time would work quite well, I think. Love your thistle and the sweet Puffin!! WOYWW#100
ReplyDeleteYou're never late in my book Rita,
DeleteI think you might be right about the art slot...I'm certainly going to try to keep to it ;D
Thanks for your compliments over my work. I really appreciate it.
Enjoy WOYWW and the coming weekend :D
xoxo
I so enjoyed looking at your beautiful artwork. Your pufflet looks great. I am also admiring the coloring or painting you are doing on the flowers.
ReplyDeleteApril #115
Thank you so much for your lovely comment April.
DeleteIt's always great to hear peoples reactions when you put your art work out there, especially when it's so positive :D
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you have planned I hope it has lots of creativity.
xoxo
How I adore your puffin Nessie. Lovely thistle pictures, too. We are also feeling the change in weather although we do have a bonus today with temps in the 80's. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that Debbie.
DeleteI was thinking he'd be nice painted onto silk, so maybe I'll do that next? ;D
The weather is crazy here...after saying it had gone really chilly, today is beautiful and sunny. There's talk that we are to have a 20+ day on Sunday.
We may even be the warmest part of the UK so I'll look forward to that :D
Have a wonderful weekend too...no matter what the weather decides to do.
xoxo
Hi Neesie
ReplyDeleteSorry It's taken me two days to get down to the end of your comments to find the comments button - way to go! Looks like you've got some very excited fellow Bloggers here all happy to know you are back in action. You get a gold star from me especially with your clever idea to 'work' during the football - I was going to copy that idea but there is a flaw that wouldn't work here as the season is nearly over - Breaking news - Hawthorn are into the Grand Final!!!!
Wrenxx
Hehe...isn't everyone brilliant!
DeleteIt never ceases to amaze me that people take time out of their busy schedules to let me know that they've been here. I'm incredibly humbled by it all ;D
Thanks for sticking with it and scrolling to the end...(please send me the bill for your medication for repetitive strain injury...it's the least I can do) :D
Brilliant news on Hawthorn! I'll pass on the information to the interested party! lol
Are you sitting down Wren?...because I just have to let you know that today Aberdeen is the warmest place in the whole (yes WHOLE) of the UK! It's predicted to reach 23 degrees today! WHOOHOO!
What crazy weather we have, but then that's the UK I suppose....a little like Melbourne only on steriods perhaps!
And to think I was looking out thermals just the other day.
It looks like we might be able to eat another Sunday lunch out in garden!
Looking at your weather you aren't doing so bad either...enjoy the transformation into summer. The great outdoors here we come>>>>>!
Have fun xoxo
Hi Neesie
DeleteNo surprise at all that Aberdeen was the warmest place in the UK this weekend. I'm sure it's due to you arriving like a Whirling Dervish and all that you've achieved in your short time there. Keep up the productivity in your 'studio' and I'm sure you won't need to put your central heating
Have a good week!
Wrenx
You may well be right there Wren...I've been up since just before dawn and I still haven't got to some of the things I had on my list for today.
DeleteHeyho...I'll just add them to tomorrows!
Chat soon xoxo
great cards! and nice curtains too! Bit late! but happy woyww!
ReplyDelete((Lyn)) #54
Hey don't you mention my curtains LOL
DeleteI did mention in a previous WOYWW entry that you were not supposed to look at them. They are a thing relic from the past...way past obviously and will be going shortly.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment though Spyder...it's great to see you.
I'm always a bit late so don't worry about being late...it's the norm for me.
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Indian Summer weekend.
Have fun xoxo
