The quaint market town of Nantwich, Cheshire.
I missed last weekends link up as I was away celebrating my brother's birthday.
Between riffle shooting, archery, swimming, curling, golf, quizzes, cabaret, dancing and of course eating and drinking... we took a walk into Nantwich Town.
It's a beautiful place and thankfully the weather made the visit all the more pleasant.

Wow! These buildings are so eye-catching, gorgeous :) #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteYou can imagine all the history oozing from their foundations,
DeleteThey really are incredible.
I love older towns like this - it's so important to preserve gorgeous historic buildings such as these.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the story's that these magnificent buildings could tell, if only they could talk ;D
DeleteI adore the wonky buildings, so much character!
ReplyDeleteI first thought it was my eyes or maybe a glass too many over lunch, but they are sound and wonky they are.
DeleteAmazing historical buildings.
Gorgeous photo - those buildings are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAren't they just Louise,
DeleteEach one so unique and ornate but collectively such a fantastic sight.
What a majestic row of Tudor houses. I love Nantwich, I used to go there each year for the International Cheese Festival, so I have a soft spot for the place!
ReplyDelete#SundayPhoto
They are indeed majestic. Great to hear that you visited Nantwich each year too.
DeleteWe would love to have visited the Cheese show but unfortunately the dates didn't match up. But you'll be happy to know that before we left Cheshire we bought a consignment of Cheshire cheese home.
Beautiful architecture. I'd love to live in a house like this!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely but I'm not sure I'd like to live in one.
DeleteThey are a little too wonky for me and rather dark inside. The windows are so small but can you imagine what stories those wall contain. Maybe even the odd ghost?
Gorgeous, and I love how squint they are! Lovely photo x
ReplyDeleteI didn't think their wonkyness showed up in the photo. They really are squiffy but they are still standing after all these years so maybe a little wonky isn't so bad after all?
DeleteI love the structure of the buildings- lovely photo. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks... I just had to share these magnificent buildings ;D
DeleteI absolutely love building shots, they are my favorite. I also love seeing buildings from around the world. These are beauitful, great shot!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that I picked your favourite subject matter for sharing this week Leslie,
DeleteThese buildings are pretty special.
The one on the left side looks especially higgledy piggledy. What a pretty street. Sounds like you've had a blast too :) #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteI've got a close up of that particular building Tara and yes it is incredibly higgledy piggledy. When you look at it you can't help but have your eyes do a dance trying to put it into place.
DeleteWe did have a great time too.
It is a beautiful town! My in-laws are from Cheshire and my mother-in-law has a canal boat moored near Nantwich. It's been a few years since we've been there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty town Sarah, and it's interesting to hear that you have been a regular visitor. One of our party loves canal boats and locks so walked along the canal checking out all of the boats. Who knows he might have even seen your MIL's boat?
DeleteNantwich is such a lovely old town, I live quite close #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI've just had to check where you are located Kerri-Ann,
DeleteI was born in Cheshire and all my family still live there but for me... it's a lovely part of the country.
What a beautiful looking town, it looks so full of history
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
It is indeed Darren,
DeleteThere's so much history around this area and so much to see too.
Thanks for hosting once again.
Lovely buildings, love that part of the world.
ReplyDeleteMe too Sarah, but it's also were all my family are too... so I'm a little biased.
DeleteHow funny that you go all the way down there, and there's an Edinburgh Woollen Mill! Lol :D
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious buildings! Wouldn't it be great if today's new buildings were as bonny, *sigh* :D
Happy Sunday :D xoxo
I noticed that too Mo and had a giggle to myself.
DeleteThey are amazing buildings and have certainly stood the test of time. There's actually a castle underground too. It had to go when after a fire it was in the way of the new towns plan. Incredible eh?
Happy Sunday to you too ;D
Wonky, higgledie piggledie, and all that bric a brac trim makes for a very old version of a modern (agrhh, my old mind went blank).....optical ...well you know, makes the eyes go crazy if one looks too long. Lovely and quaint for sure. And I'll bet you're resting up n recovering from all the partying, huh!? Have a fab week, Nessie. I'm unpacking, purging and organizing my studio. Yea! Back to creative play next month. Hugs from me and the Girls.
ReplyDeleteOh I know just what you mean Nan, my eyes were dancing like looking through a kaleidoscope!
DeleteIt certainly was a busy time and we used every second so yes I'm needing to rest but then when you've been away for a wee while there's so much to catch up on... so no rest for the wicked!
Great to hear you're getting sorted and creating once again.
Have fun and hugs back to you and the girls.
What beautiful buildings....So eye catching x
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are stunning Kim,
DeleteIt's such a pretty town and we enjoyed looking at all the historical buildings.
I love British architecture, and it is so rare to see such beautiful buildings such as these. Must take a trip to Nantwich, what else do you recommend in the area?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Katrina #MySundayPhoto
Nantwich isn't far from my family who live on the Wirral. It was a lovely walk from the Hotel. If you'd like to see the hotel we stayed in just scroll down my post to Wednesday. If you do manage to visit I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
DeleteHere's a link to see what else is around the area....

Wonderful - I found it amusing that right next door to the woolen company is a cleaners/dry cleaners? What is that business - the the woolen mill store is from Scotland?
ReplyDeleteLove the photo - thanks!
sandy xx
Thanks Sandy, it's a lovely little town.
DeleteThe Woollen Mill Store is the UK's leading supplier of Harris Tweed and Knitwear and they have outlets in various parts of Scotland and England.
Have a great week
Imagine painting all that. It is eye catching. Love the effect of the black and white. #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed the wood hasn't rotted away many years ago Cheryl. They are incredible to be still standing and to look like they do. It really is a pretty town. Very striking indeed.
DeleteLooks like a storybook! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very active birthday celebration with a little danger thrown in for good measure-LOL! (Arrows and guns are dangerous to me.)
It is a very picturesque part of the country... but then I grew up in Cheshire and my family are still there, so I may be a tad biased.
DeleteIt was a very active celebration that lasted four days Rita!
Don't worry we obeyed all of the Health and Safety rules concerning the arrows and guns. No harm was done I can assure you ;D
That's such a pretty High Street :) #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteIs certainly is Lisa,
DeleteIt's a lovely little town with lots of history.
It looks like a beautiful place to visit
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Zena, there are so many things of historical interest to see around the pretty little town.
DeleteCrikey that's an impressive set of activities for a wedding. I do love to see old buildings .
ReplyDeleteFor a birthday Emma, and yes it was. Four days flat out activities from breakfast until the early hours of the morning all set in beautiful grounds.

ReplyDeleteThey are stunningly beautiful buildings Julie, and looked amazing with the sun shining on them ;D
Deletethat is a lovely looking town and what beautiful buildings. looks like lovely weather too. great photo neesie.
ReplyDeleteI love older buildings like these, they have such interesting stories.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture :) x
#MySundayPhoto
This fab photo would come out well in one of your zentangle drawings, Nessie. In fact it should have been an activity for all between the riffle shooting and the cabaret dancing, No doubt you would have worked up quite an appetite with all those activities, that's quite some wardrobe you had to pack... come to think about it, what does one wear for curling?!
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a great time
Wren x
Another wonderful masterpiece of your day in color and perfection. The realism is so good, I jumped back when I saw the spider. And actually want to touch the screen to see if I could feel the squirrel's tail. Lovely work. I want to give this style a try. We are going to Lake Tahoe for a week... I will experiment there....Thanks for your inspiration every time I visit your blog.
