I'm so glad you thought so Louise because that's why I chose it for my Sunday shot. It's certainly got everyone's imagination going... including my own.
The possibilities are endless Sarah and that's why I thought I'd show everyone one from the Sunday linkup. The more I think about it the more possibilities I come up with ;D
It's certainly been there for quite some time. It's too small for a shelter other than for a wee beastie. A person couldn't fit into it. It could have been for storage of some sort for the farm hands back in the day... or maybe it is just for the trolls or fairies? Thanks for your visit... You must visit so many over the weekend which is incredible. I always have the thought that I will but the time just gets eaten away. Thanks for providing such a fun linky. Enjoy your Sunday evening and good luck to the girls for school.
Well you'd have to be rather wee to fit into it... it is quite small. I'm still trying to work out who or what lived there or even what it might have been used for. Still no answers I'm afraid.
You're definitely right there... it is man-made and has been there for a long time. Now I just need to find out why? It's really causing me far more thought provoking questions than I would like... because I've still not got any answers.
I agree with chickenruby, it does look manmade, but it's very exciting! Do you know the history of the place Denise? It could have been some sort of cooking place, a kiln perhaps, or a childs play area. Wonderful picture to capture the imagination :D xx
I think it is Mo but unfortunately I haven't got any answers as to what it is or who used it. I certainly has been there for quite some time. We just stumbled across it on one of Muftypup's walks through our local woods. I don't think it was for cooking or fire because of the big stone placed on the top. Although thinking about it I suppose it could have been put on the top to keep the site dry, making it easier to light a fire. All I know is that it's been there for quite some time. I'm no nearer knowing why it's there or who put it there. A mystery indeed :/
Oh how I wish I could tell you what it is or was used for Laurie, I've been giving it lots of thought and I'm still no nearer... except to say it's been there for quite some time. Let's stick with the troll and fairy theory until I hear otherwise.
There's a magical quality to this scene. I hope you'll come link up at this week's Wordless Wednesday (on Tuesday): http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/08/strange-visitors-in-garden.html.
Oh now that's a completely different take on it Emma, The only trouble would be that it would be a bit snug for Robin Hood, because it's quite small. Even for a dog... so Friar Tuck wouldn't stand a chance!
Your theory is the most popular one Rita.... so we'll go along with it. Meanwhile, I'm still wanting to know who put it there and why? If I find out then I'll certainly let everyone know.
I think it's too well taken care of to be a troll or anything creepy, it looks like where the 7 Dwarves enter the mine, can you hear the echos of "HI-HO"????
I get so excited to see you here and love to read your thoughts and comments. I always try to answer each one personally (I think it's only polite) ...♥...I truly appreciate your precious time here so thank you ...♥...
Looks like it could be a scene out of a fairytale - such wonderful scope for imagination in this shot.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you thought so Louise because that's why I chose it for my Sunday shot.
DeleteIt's certainly got everyone's imagination going... including my own.
Definitely fairyland, I'm looking for enchanted characters in there.
ReplyDeleteI think you're not alone in your search ;D
DeleteThanks for your visit and comment... it's always good to have you pop by.
Enjoy your Sunday
Aaaw that is a lovely photo. Louise is right, it looks like a scene out of a fairytale. Ummm...it must be a fairy that live there. :) xx
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew... but I do like the fairy theory though :D
DeleteHave a great week
How cute! I hope it's something friendly :) #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteThere's all sorts of possibilities Tara but unfortunately I don't have a clue.
DeleteWe just stumbled across it as we walked through our local woods.
That's really interesting. It should definitely be a mythical creature. It would be great in a film or TV show.
ReplyDeleteThe possibilities are endless Sarah and that's why I thought I'd show everyone one from the Sunday linkup.
DeleteThe more I think about it the more possibilities I come up with ;D
ooh, I wonder who lives in there!
ReplyDeleteI thought someone from the Sunday link up might have been able to tell me. The most popular seems to be along the fairy tale line ;D
DeleteOooo, who do you think it is? It looks very cosy
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up

This looks like something out of a fairytale - great photo #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteThanks Victoria,
DeleteI thought it might be a good photo to share.
Enjoy your Sunday
That's so magical looking. Did you find any fairies in there?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I didn't Tas... maybe all the noise we made upon our approach frightened them away?
DeleteThanks for your visit... enjoy your week.
that is lovely, looks manmade but a very long time ago if it was,
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely right there... it is man-made and has been there for a long time. Now I just need to find out why? It's really causing me far more thought provoking questions than I would like... because I've still not got any answers.

beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteit looks like a good place to keep wood dry, or something to do with cooking but my heart says its Troll hole, lol,
Oh how I wish I could tell you what it is or was used for Laurie,

A lovely find! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so unexpected when we came across it on our walk Lisa,

I agree NC Sue and that's why I wanted to share it.
DeleteI'm also hoping that someone might actually know what it was used for.
If not a fairy or troll, you could image Robin Hood running along and sliding into the hole to hide from the sheriff!
ReplyDeleteOh now that's a completely different take on it Emma,
DeleteThe only trouble would be that it would be a bit snug for Robin Hood, because it's quite small. Even for a dog... so Friar Tuck wouldn't stand a chance!
"I do! I do!" said the little grey mouse.
ReplyDeleteFANGdangTATSTIC photo!
Sandy xx
Hmm... okay Sandy... if you see a little grey mouse, then there's a little grey mouse!
DeleteIf I look closely I can see him too ;D
Looks like a cave for a fairy or a troll. :)
ReplyDeleteYour theory is the most popular one Rita.... so we'll go along with it.
DeleteMeanwhile, I'm still wanting to know who put it there and why?

ReplyDeleteOh I never thought of that Nikki,
DeleteI'll have to revisit and listen carefully. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
What do you mean "who put it there?" The little grey mouse and his whole family put it there!
ReplyDeleteOf course! Now I'm slightly worried about you... maybe you should rest or take more water with it!
DeleteYou take care ;D
i like this photo neesie. a bit mysterious. i think it is a Borrowers family. you know the books? I love the japanese anime version of it too.
ReplyDeleteI know the Borrowers Sherry and you might well be right there.
DeleteBut I have to admit that I've not seen the Japanese anime version.
Lovely photo... definitely intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI thought it might cause a stir,
DeleteGlad you liked it.
What a great photo! xxx
