My Sunday Photo... Erskine Falls

This week I've decided to show you a few old photographs from my time in Australia.
(The weather here hasn't been the best for taking photo's this week)
I made the decision mainly due to the fact that my brother and his family are over in Melbourne, Australia at the moment.
Seeing his photographs has reminded me of a trip we made traveling along the Great Ocean Road.
One of the places we stopped to visit was Erskine Falls (aboriginal name Kitjarra Ngitj/Ngatanwarr) which is a magical waterfall, tucked away in the beautiful Great Otway National Park...just off the Great Ocean Road.
This is my daughter... she's not only into art, she also loves photography.
Does that remind you of anyone?

I remember that I just couldn't resist taking a shot of this sign.
I've never seen a sign like it before or since!
Erskine Falls is like stepping back in time to the Jurassic age.
There is quite a descent to reach the waterfall, but it is worth it..

As usual I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo
and Through my lens
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for popping into my world.
I hope I'll see you again soon

    1. It was indeed Louise,
On the day we visited it was drizzling slightly so it was very tropical. It would have been perfect for a scene in Jurassic Park!

  2. Fascinating shots. I'm dying to do the Great Ocean Road one day. We have been to Perth several times (my wife's dad's family is there) and also to Sydney a couple of times but we have yet to investigate the middle of the country.

    1. If you do visit Tim, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed.
I've also visited Perth on numerous occasions too plus Sydney. I loved them all, but I felt right at home in Melbourne.

There's so much to see and although it is far to travel, it's one to tick off the bucket list for sure.

  6. Don't you just love the warning signs--not only do you have to worry about slipping and falling (which you'd expect) but now you have to worry about snakes too.

    1. It was hilarious and the last thing I expected to find.
The trail was tricky, but I must admit I hadn't thought of snakes until I saw that illustration on the post!

    1. Well that's what I thought when I looked back at these old photos.
I thought others might like to see them, or if they had already then revisit them.
I've got one of an unfurling fern which I unfortunately didn't attach here. I thought it would be too many photos for the link.

The photo doesn't do justice to the waterfall really. It was quite a drop, but that doesn't come across in the photo.

    1. Thanks Darren, it's a pity that the waterfall photo doesn't really show the huge drop... it's the perspective's slightly off.
I was standing on a bridge, but if I'd have been at the base then it would have been better.
Maybe I'll have to go back and retake it? It's only 12,000 miles!

  11. Aww what a stunning place. You also made my son's day with the signs photo. He loves signs so much and this one is different from the others that he would usually see from around here.

    Thanks for sharing.

If I find it I'll forward it on to you.

    1. Hehe me neither Jayne. I hadn't given snakes a second thought until I saw that sign. I wish the photo came with sound as the water crashed onto the rocks below. It was quite high although the photo doesn't really show that.
