Inktober Challenge 2016... PPF and Sunday Sketches

I can't believe that it is October, but the calendar tells me so.
I did wonder whether it would be good for my creative mind to take up the Inktober Challenge once again. I took up the challenge last year, but I didn't quite complete it, as I missed the odd day here and there. I have to admit that the process of trying to come up with an illustration idea everyday was a good one for me.
So nothing ventured nothing gained... I'm participating once again.
Inktober challenge is to hopefully improve inking skills and develop positive drawing habits.
There is an official prompt list for 2016, but some of the subjects are not really what I'd favour.
More about that later.
This next illustration should possibly come with a warning according to my children... (and they're grown up!)
I thought a troll might be fun to draw, as I used to collect then way back when I was a toot and I see that there's a new film about to be released... so here he/she is...
After sending a day in my garden planting 800 bulbs... yes 800!
I had mentioned that I had 100 previously, but when I opened the box there were actually 800 of the little darlings.
It's amazing how long that can take a person to plant, and how busy suddenly everyone else is, so couldn't possibly help!
I just hope after all this effort they give me a wonderful surprise in Spring.
There was a cheerful chappie keeping me company though, who serenaded me beautifully.
Mr Robin Redbreast!
Day 4's theme was 'Hungry'... and immediately I thought of a dog requesting his dinner.
Day 5 is where I began to think that I'll not be following the official prompt lists at times, because the prompt was 'Sad'.
I always try to remain positive and I think with so much stress, worry, conflicts etc out there today that it's important to keep positive and smile.
No one wants to come to a blog and leave feeling down... but I'm afraid my next illustration might just do that.
I must apologies to all the jolly clowns out there, and also for the fact that I've never liked clowns!
Nothing personal... there must have been an incident back in my childhood that set this precedence.
I promise that after pushing myself to come up with this last illustration, I shall try to keep it light and cheerful. The next two days prompts are 'Hidden' and 'Lost' so that may be quite a challenge.

As it's Friday I'm going to link up with PPF as usual, and Sunday Sketches
Thank you ladies for hosting once again and I hope you'll join me over there.
There are some amazing artists sharing incredible work.
Have a fabulous Friday and great weekend.
Keep smiling and pass it on...

    1. I find ink drawings relaxing (normally) especially when there's no restrictions. I think I like the wellies one too.
Happy PPF and thanks for stopping by once again. It's always lovely to have you pop in :D

    1. Aww thank you Linda, I'm not sure about some of them, but then it is stretching me by making me draw every day and I think that's what I need. I may colour the wellie drawing in because as you say it shouts out 'I need colour'!
Interesting to have a fellow troll collector.
      Happy PPF to you

  4. Yay, you're doing Inktober too! I love your entries so far!! Are you using markers, liquid ink, or something else for the challenge? I made my own themed prompts this year: http://bit.ly/inktoberff

    1. I'm using a variety of pens and inks for the challenge. Mainly Daler Rowney Acrylic Ink and Micron pens.
As I mentioned I'll try to keep to the official prompts, but I may well deviate from time to time. I best get a wriggle on because I'm two days behind already! Have fun and thanks for stopping by my place :D

    1. Thanks Minnemie, it's really interesting hearing which ones people prefer. I'm thinking that the Robin with that red appeals to people who love colour.

  7. Wow these are all so fun! I love the boots so much and the dogs frolicking...great movement there...and the Robin. My Cupcake divorced her Barbies for Trolls so I have always loved them too. She has quite a huge collection we have kept tucked away that are adorable! Like you I do not like clowns but have to admit your clown drawing is pretty amazing!! Truly inktober has been really productive for you, might even have a new Nessie colouring book at the end of it for you!

    1. Hehe thanks Giggles, I'm glad you like them. I'm conscious of bombarding people over the month of October, so I group the drawings together to minimize the nuisance factor.
Poor Barbie but totally understanding. I mean Trolls are just so weird and wonderful. My collection seems to have disappeared to where I know not where? Someone obviously ditched them without my knowledge!
I was going to add shading to the clown, but decided not to as I just thought he was too sad. I thought I'd leave him alone :(

    1. Yes I saw that Jennifer and also two girls arrested for similar things here in the UK. No wonder kids are freaking out about clowns if they chase you!!!
I've still not finished the bulb planting, but let me tell you if they all don't come up in Spring... heads will roll!
      Planting 800 is no joke!

    1. Thanks Erika, I found last year that InkTober was a very good challenge for me. It makes you come up with a design everyday. Well hopefully because I've fallen a day behind, so I must get back to it.
      Happy weekend to you too

    1. I know exactly what you mean because I'm actually falling behind with the challenge. I think the list is quite hard. I really don't like some of them, so I think I might just do my own... and then I might actually get to finish the challenge.

  14. All of these are fabulous. I admire that you joined in Inktober. I have never drawn with ink so opted out. Instead I am doing Sunday Sketches. 800 bulbs??!!!! OMG LOL Have a very nice Sunday.

    1. Thank you Nicole, I really am falling behind now with the prompts basically because I don't like the list. I'm definitely thinking that if I want to carry on with the challenge, I need to do my own list.
I do link with Sunday Sketches too. I adore Alexandra's illustrations.
Yep 800 bulbs seemed a good idea to my hubby... but then I'm the one planting them! In his defense he thought that the deal was for 100, so was just as surprised as me when we opened the box.
I only have three bags left which still means about 250 left to plant!
