It's been a busy day which I suppose is only to be expected with the onset of the Christmas preparations.
I've dressed the tree and put up some of the decorations around the house, so I feel a little calmer that I can now actually tick off a few items on my to-do list.
We have quiet a few decorations... okay... we have boxes and boxes of decorations, so it's not a job that can be done in a day!
I'll carry on again tomorrow.
Having the daylight disappear at 3.30pm doesn't help... but there's not much I can do about that.
Every year I buy a new decoration, either for the tree or around the house.
The year we left Australia, I bought a Santa for the tree.
He is in his swimmers lounging on a float, drinking a cocktail... Christmas arrives in the heat of summer Down Under, so I felt that this Santa was very appropriate to remind us of the hot Christmases we had whilst living there.
This year I couldn't resist this snow globe.
It's quite large and incredibly heavy.
I think the bird is a red cardinal, but I like to think of him as a robin... and we often have deer come up to our garden, so I felt it very appropriate.
Now all we need is a little snow.
Just so long that if it does arrive... it disappears on Boxing Day!
This is my photo of how the day ended.
A glass of sherry and a mince pie to celebrate a busy day of festive decorating.
Do you have a favourite decoration or tradition?
Thanks for your visit and I hope to see you soon.
I'm linking up with Photalife.com
Have a great day whatever you have planned.
Enjoy!
It all looks very fstive You can't beat turning over a snowglobe
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I'm smitten with this globe. I've never had one before. I don't know what it is, but it's very satisfying to give it a swish and watch the snow fall.
DeleteLove that snow globe - I'm not surprised you couldn't resist it! Ending the day with mince pies and sherry sounds good to me :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is so heavy Louise. Solid!
DeleteIt's a family tradition to have a sherry whilst trimming the Christmas tree... and I must say I haven't had one since that afternoon... but don't ask me how many mince pies I've eaten. I may have to tell a little white lie!
Heh, our kids have become fascinated with snow globes this year - makes it easy to pick out one Xmas present forthem, at least!
ReplyDeleteI think the snow globe is making a come back Tim. I adore mine and think it will be a favourite for some time. Good luck with the present ideas!
Deletei LOVE that snow globe. just so festive. Yes we are in the midst of a very hot and stormy summer already neesie. One poor fella got hit by lightning and died in the big storm last week and someone else's house was burned down after a lightning strike. yep it can be a wee bit dangerous here as you know:) have a great xmas. x
ReplyDeleteIt is a fabulous globe and I think it'll be a favourite for quite some time. It definitely looks the part.
DeleteIt sounds like you are having some incredible weather just now. I remember when we first arrived in Melbourne... it was just before Black Saturday's bush fire. It was scary to watch and so tragic!
So stay safe and have a lovely Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2017!
That really is a beautiful globe! Like you I have decorations from the places we have lived and it's a struggle to find places for them all!
ReplyDeleteI'm really pleased with the globe and I'm so happy that I decided to buy it. I think it will be one of my favourite decorations for quite some time! I have eight large storage boxes of decorations, so I really must not be tempted to buy any more!
Delete(I'm writing that just in case my hubby reads this ;D)
I love snow globes! I have a small collection of them that the kids like to look at and play with!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a globe or even thought about having one, until I saw this one. Who knows it might be the start of a collection?
DeleteSo pretty, love the festive feel of these
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Isn't it just... I loved it and just couldn't leave it on the shelf.
DeleteThanks for hosting and I hope you have a great week.
I quite want to see your Santa in his swimmers :) Love your snow globe though and I hope you have a really lovely non-Aussie Xmas this year x
ReplyDeleteWell you're wish is my command... because I've posted a photo of Summer Santa especially for you. He's on my Instagram account and here's the link #neesienatters.
DeleteWe've been back in the UK for four Christmases... so the hot Christmases are a distant memory now.
Ahh! That snowglobe is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great way to end the day x
I think so too Kim. I'm so happy that I bought it and I also agree that a wee glass of something with the fire blazing and eating something festive is the best way to end the day, although most nights just a good cuppa is all that's needed!
DeleteOh I love snow globes they just scream Christmas and no wonder you couldn't resist this one! #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about snow globes before (especially whilst living abroad) but I just had to have this one when I saw it.
DeleteLove a good snow globe and your mince pie picture is so Christmas
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about having a snow globe before, but I'm glad I bought this one. I love it!
DeleteThe mince pies just hit the spot after spending hours decorating the tree.
We did ours last night, perhaps I'll include it in a post next week, I should have made mince pies too!
DeleteCould you make a few extra if you do because mine are disappearing rather quickly!
DeleteYour snow glob is fabulous -- snow globes are quite mystical and I can always picture myself inside with the scene and falling snow!
ReplyDeleteWe have started a new Christmas tradition. Every year we buy new lighting for the outside of our house. This year we bought a white tree (all branches) full of white lights. It looks so pretty!
The kids are grown and gone - no one will be here this Christmas. My son and his wife travel to Europe every Christmas and my daughter and her family will be with her Dad this year.
I know your home is beautiful all decked out in its Christmas best!
Sandy xx
I've never really thought about snow globes before now. I think they might be making a comeback... that is if they have every been out of style. I couldn't resist it when I saw it. It's so heavy and beautiful.
DeleteI know the kind of outside tree that you mention... I love to have the outside of the house dressed, especially here where we need to try to lighten up the very short dark days.
My kids have grown, but we all plan to be together with our extended family too, so it'll probably be bedlam, but in a nice way!
If I don't speak to you before the big day I wish you a wonderful peaceful day and very best wish for 2017!
I'll take the mince pie, always fun stopping by here Neesie!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that Christine... you'll have to be quick as the mince pies seem to be disappearing pretty quick!
Deletestill need to put decorations up, but things were put on a bit of a hold this weekend due to messing up my knee :/ but hopefully have the tree up sometime this week lol never was a big xmas person and bringing decorations over moving here never actually crossed my mind, art supplies were more important lol
ReplyDeleteOh no Jennifer, I hope you are okay and making a speedy recovery. I can art supplies taking priority. I think everyone should just do whatever works for them.
DeleteHave a wonderful time no matter what you do and look after yourself. Take it easy
A wonderful snow globe, I like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm still living in renovation mess, after a flu... but I begun a little decoration: up in my working room in white and grey and down in our library room will make all in turquoise and gold - I bought yesterday a turquoise light. There are always the colors, which inspire me...
Have a happy and quiet time
Oh my Mascha, you have had a terrible time lately. I hope you are well after the flu and things are beginning to settle down soon.
DeleteIt's nice to have an inspiring colour scheme around you. Enjoy!
