A Giveaway...Plus What's on Your Work Desk? WOYWW

It's Wednesday and I've finally managed to catch up with the WOYWW gang! I've been missing for a few weeks, but I'm back and to make up for my absense I'm including a link to my 'giveaway'...but you'll have to be quick to enter because the giveaway ends tomorrow.
It's very simple to enter...all you have to do is leave a comment on the post and Mufftypup might draw your name as the winner. She's raring to go for the draw because she knows that they'll be lots of chicken available if she does a good job ^..^
Check out the last giveaway draw.
Yes I know I haven't given you much time to enter and I should have told you earlier ~ sorry!
So let me explain for all of my new followers that WOYWW stands for What's on Your Workdesk and is the brainchild of Julia over at Stamping Ground
Nip across and check out all the various artist and crafters desks across the globe. They're a great bunch and very friendly...they'd love to meet you I'm sure.
Now I'm thinking that this could be a monumental week because not only am I involved with the WOYWW  creative, crafty gang, but I've been partying with the lovely Vicki at 2 Bags Full who has organised a mammoth Party Blog Hop! So if the two come together here...WOW that would be amazing!

Well without further delay (because WOYWW is supposed to be a brief post ~ which as you know I have great difficulty keeping brief...it's just not in my makeup apparently...see here I am waffling about keeping brief! (sigh)
So what's on my desk this beautiful sunny day? Well there's lots of wonderful light for a start!
Apologies if the sun has left your part of the world, but I'll let you have a quick warm from mine ;D

There are a few new things and one little package that I picked up yesterday from the art suppliers. Well I just happened to be passing but then how can you pass? If you know how then tell me...but on the other hand...never mind I don't think I want to know! Its harmless enough isn't it?

One of the reasons why I didn't make last Wednesday was because I'd made a card that had to reach the UK and I wasn't sure if it would spoil the surprise if I posted it before it arrived.
Now if I tell you my nephew has crabs I don't want any sniggers please! That includes you at the back there!
He has a beautiful tank and keeps sending me little video clips of all the latest inhabitants.

So instead of sending the usual birthday card featuring golfers, beer or wine, or boat...not that there's anything wrong with those designs...but I wanted something different so I decided I'd draw something that was relevant to him....hence 'Hermit the Crab'.
Apologies for the quality of the photograph, but I quickly had to snap it and rush off to the post box in order for it to arrive in time for the birthday.
Now let me explain...(or give my excuse)...this is only the second time that I've tried to draw with the ink nib pen set that my daughter bought as part of my Christmas present and I realised very early on that I need to spend time practicing. Especially with regard to the lettering!
So there you have it my entry for WOYWW but I'm also thinking laterally and joining in with Jenn's Artist Playroom which this week has 'Mail Art' as its theme.  Jenn will be pleased I'm sure because she's always encouraging us to think laterally! I'm a happy bunny because I've been missing from the APR too but today I've managed to tick quite a few boxes with double entries!

My card has travelled half way around the world to keep me in touch with my nephew and I think that's special. I 'm thinking that post landing in the post box will delight him as much as it delights me. I don't think you can beat snail mail and since blogging I've had such wonderful post from very generous new friends from all over the world. I'm hoping my bright envelope with all the Australian stamps will brighten his day :D
So don't forget to enter for my giveaway if you're interested, or if you have the time check out the other links...there are lots for you this week.
Have a wonderful week everyone ~ whatever you have planned.
Enjoy and keep smiling https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511760.gif

  1. Hi, Neesie! I love your crab drawing! Although we find it much easier at times to just blog, email, or instant chat to friends and families, the personal touch of pen to paper and sent snail mail is still special!

    Have a great day!!

    Kelly xoxo

    1. Wow Kelly you were so quick to comment I feel you're sitting here with me... so is it your turn to pop the kettle on? LOL

I have only just pushed the button on the post and there you where! Wink
I adore receiving post (other than bills obviously) and think its very special when someone takes the time and effort to send it through snail mail.
I seem to be sending and receiving far more mail this way thanks to blogging. I hope it continues!

      Have a great day too.

  2. Hi Neesie, Welcome back to our land of floods and heatwaves! I bet you are missing the cold, white stuff :)
I see a really good looking zentangle on your desk, the abstract one ... VERY nice!

    1. Well hello there RosA
How are you...okay? I'll nip over to see in a minute! ;D
Yep you're right, I am missing the white stuff but it's also very nice to be in the warm sunshine. Today is perfect at a steady 26 degrees. ;D

It's just the extreme's I don't like...take for instance the -27C night temperature, in Canada obviously and the 40C here upon our return during the odd day. Thankfully it is the odd day so I can survive.

We haven't had any rain though since before Christmas and everywhere is looking very sad and brown...well not much to talk about...only spits and spots. But then poor Queensland are having horrendous floods!
      Has the world gone mad?

You have very keen eyesight to see that card on my desk...it was a brithday card from a friend. It's not exactly a zentangle but very much like one. I wish I could say I designed it but I'm not that kind of girl...I cannot tell a lie (Mum would be proud of me!)

So let's see what you've been up to...I'm coming across now so pop that kettle on :D
      Toodleloo for now xoxo

  3. that is one heck of a cute crab, I must say!! Great job, especially with a new pen. So glad to have you back at APR, missed you. Totally great entry. Hope all is well with the Aussie weather I'm hearing about, both Trace and Von are all wet, lol. Glad they're safe.
    Much love my friend,

    1. Thanks Jenn,
Yep we're all safe and sound here, but there's some very strange weather happening around Australia. We haven't seen any real rain since before Christmas so everything has become brown and crispy. Thankfully I've got an 11,000 litres tank of collected rain water, which filled up during the winter months. Then there's bush fires burning and will burn for months to come...but then Queensland are flooded out!
Some of the news footage is incredible and there are some heart breaking stories out there. It certainly makes you wonder what's going on!

It feels so good to be back into the fold once more, although rather rushed, I was determined to enter this week... and not at the last minute either. I would never have believed that I'd draw a crab...but that's the fun part of creating art isn't it...you never know where it will lead.

Have a wonderful week and I'll join the gang later to see what everyone's been up to.

  4. SUN!!!!! How lovely that must be!! We spent Christmas in Florida, but I haven't seen the sun since. It's dark, cold and dreary EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Ugh, winters in Germany.

Love your drawing - very well done!!

    Happy Crafting!
    Jeannie #12

    1. Hello Jeannie,
I'm so happy you liked the little sun I posted. There's lots around just now so I could possibly send you a little more. I think we may be able to spare a little ;D
Christmas in Florida sounds great, but so different from my Christmas in Canada.
I don't like the thought of your dark, cold and dreary days...not one little bit!!! You poor thing.
I think there's nothing for it but to just hybernate and create!!!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment.
Have fun desk hopping ~ enjoy :D

  5. Hello Nessie
I think the card you did for your nephew is lovely and I think he will look after and treasure it for the rest of his life.... I would frame it so I could see it every day!!!
    Jackie 17

    1. Aww bless you for your kind comments Jackie,
I'm not sure about my nephew treasuring it for the rest of his life...but it's a nice thought :D

This is a recent hobby but one that he seems to be very keen on, so I think the card will be a total surprise.

Enjoy WOYWW and I'll pop across to see you soon ;D

  6. I'm sorry, but I sniggered... Love the card and I am sure your nephew appreciated it. The table looks lovely in the sun - we have had odd glimpses but nothing like that!! Helen, 9

    1. Hehe...I knew someone would Helen, but you didn't have to own up to it! ;D
I should have shown more of the sunlight because I went in search of my old camera and by the time I came back into the studio, the sun had already moved round a little.
Next time I'll make sure its full on when I visit!

Have a great week with lots of fun :D

  7. It's great that you have managed to join us all this week with your lovely desk. What a great crab card very clever I just love it
    Ria #44

    1. Hi Ria,
It's great to be back ;D

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment. I have to admit I don't think I'd have ever thought to draw a crab if it wasn't for my nephew.

Enjoy WOYWW and I'll visit you soon to see what you've been up to. :D

  8. I love the different idea for a birthday card. i don't like the cards you can buy i shops because they are mass produced and soulless. I much prefer handmade - much more interesting designs. Keep up the great work! Lucy #23 x

    1. Hi Lucy,
Yes I have to agree about the birthday cards. I struggled for days trying to find something suitable but couldn't find anything and that's why I decided to draw one myself.
I've only just started to do my own during this year, but I feel so much better that they are now more personal and relevant to the recipient.
Thanks for your encouragement and for stopping by my workdesk.

See you soon...in the meantime have fun desk hopping :D

  9. Awesome light shining on an awesome workdesk! So lovely and what a wonderful place to craft in, considering your beautiful view!!!!

    Have a wonderful WW!

    die amelie #66

    1. Hi die amelie,
Yes I know I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful space to create in...I just wish I could spend all my time there. ;D
I try to appreciate it every day!

Thanks for popping over to my place. Have fun with WOYWW and I'll call on you soon to see what you've been up to. :D

  10. Hi Neesie - Loving that Hermit crab!! Great idea to link it to APR too ;)
I hope you enjoyed strolling around the art supplies store. I cannot walk past one without at last having a look in. After all, they've gone to all the effort of stocking the place, the least I can do is go in and spend some money - er, I mean TIme in there. WOuld be rude not to!
Ahh, nice and snug now, thanks for the warm. we have very chilly gusts of 50+mph today! So it's ankle weights on when I go fetch in the bins, if they're still around that is.
Have a great evening. That sunset is GORgeous!! :0) Mo xx

    1. Hello Mo,
I did enjoy my sneaky...(cough)...I mean my quick visit into the art store and I have to say I think I was very restrained really...under the circumstances. It helped that they were running very low on supplies after the holiday period, otherwise I might have a different story to tell!!!
I agree totally with your theory that if they stock it, we have a duty to keep these stores open by buying it ;D

What a giggle thinking about you having ankle weights on for the bin run. You'll be super fit by spring when the grand unveiling of hybernation happens.
The sunset was a nice one but it's turned chilly now the sun has disappeared. The last two evenings we've eaten al-fresco but not tonight.
Have a wonderful week and I'll nip to see you soon. xoxo

  11. Hi Neesie Thank you for the sunshine hit - we have a bit of sun here today but there is definitely now warmth in it. Brrrr! I love your illustration of the Hermit crab and I am sure your card will be treasured - Framed above the tank I think - You should send him some lettering - There's no place like home! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 55

    1. Hi there Helen,
Good to chat with you again....it's been some time hasn't it?

I'm glad you like my 'Hermit' and as I've said before I never thought I'd be drawing one but I'm glad I did. I also like your idea of the lettering.
Thanks for the inspiration...I appreciate it ;D

Have fun with WOYWW and enjoy the desk hopping!

  12. there's nothing finer than snail mail, i reckon! and i'm sure your nephew will just love the card!!
happy WOYWW and a have wonderful week :)
    no. 5

    1. I'm a great fan of snail mail too Claire,
Well anything other than the bills that is! ;D

I've had some wonderful mail during last year from blogging friends around the world. When there's a wonderful surprise waiting for you in the letter box I found I just couldn't stop smiling all day. :D

Have a wonderful week too and enjoy the desk hopping!

  13. I just love how much workspace you have and your nephew is going to love his gift. I do. #83

    1. I still haven't settled into my workspace after the holiday period but that's something I'm going to remedy very shortly Joynana,

How's your New Year started? I hope it's great and just gets better each day.

I'll pop over to take a peek at your desk sometime today.

Have fun and thanks for stopping by...it's great to see you after so long ;D

  14. The card = frame worthy
Your nephew's reaction upon opening = priceless, I'm sure

    You are very talented Neesie!

    1. Aww thanks so much Laurie, I really appreciate your lovely compliment ;D

I'm hoping to spend a little time today on a new design. Fingers crossed that no chore gets in the way!

      Have a great day :D

  15. beautiful work and I LOVE your workspace!!! Your nephew is a lucky fellow!!!He has a beautiful and talented Aunt!

    1. Oh Laurie you've made me blush again.
Thank you for your kind words ;D

I'm hoping ro spend a lot more time in the studio over the next few months. Now isn't that a lovely thought...makes me feel all warm and cosy!

I hope you're having a great week and I'll pop over to see you later to see what you've been up to.

  16. As the recipient of some of your happy mail, I am able to assure you that yes - the stamps, the envelope landing in the box and then your art...is a wonderful and much to be cherished surprise. As is the warm sunshine in your garden and flooding your room. Am a bit jealous. A bit!

    1. Oh Julia thank you so much for your kind words.
I get as much pleasure sending mail as receiving it. I think its so special and hope that it never disappears!

Don't worry I'll share the warm sunshine with you because I know I would miss it so much if I left here...it's also the light even when the sun doesn't shine.

Have a great week with the WOYWW gang and thanks for stopping by...I know how difficult it is with so many in the group now! :D

  17. Hi Neesie, what a lovely tidy desk. I love your drawing.

    1. Hello Carol,
It is rather tidy isn't it? But I plan to head in there now and mess it up! LOL

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

I love to have visitors and will pop over to you soon. :D

  18. Your desk does look very organized though I don't see a lot of blank space to actually work in. I'm a little jealous of all that sunshine - we haven't seen any in weeks! AND, lucky nephew to receive that card...whimsical and very well drawn. Nice to have you back in the swing of things........

    1. Hmm...organized Terrie...I think not!
I've just plonked things down as I've passed and you're right there isn't a lot of space for actually doing anything, but I plan to correct that in a few minutes. I'm heading in there to do something...not sure what at the moment but hopefully something will come to me ;D
This weeks weather has been perfect so I've been appreciating it.
There's rain on the way apparently which is welcome because there's been none here since before Christmas (so I'm told) Everything is beginning to look very brown and crisp!
There are fires nearby in Victoria and then Queensland has all of those terrible floods. What a mixed bag!

Thanks for popping over...I'm looking forward to visiting APR later to see what you've all been up to.
Have a great day with lots of creativity :D

  19. Great to see you back in your craft room and that it's sunny :) I so remember how cold you were just a couple of months ago - too cold to work in there. The crab is fantastic - I'm sure your nephew will have been absolutely delighted with the card. Hope you've had a happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #71

    1. Hello Elizabeth,
I was cold wasn't I, but then I went off to Canada for Christmas and then I really knew what cold was....minus 27 at night! Now that's cold!!! :D

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment as usual. I'm going to head into the studio whilst the light is good (and warm hehe) and then do my visiting later.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you've been up to ;D
      Enjoy WOYWW!

  20. My work desk has an enrolment form on it... for a Floral Design Course.. and it's signed and paid for!!!!!!!
Thank you for being an inspirational fellow blogger Neesie... I'm jumping in the deep end and I'm super excited! ♥♥♥

    1. Ooh Ooh Ooh...I'm so excited for you Angy! I subscribed to an online Florist course last year, but never got as far as completing the application. It's something I've always want to do...but I just couldn't fit it in. One day maybe?

I can't wait to hear all about it...you're going to have such a fantastic time.
A few years back whilst visiting my sister in the UK I persuaded her to join me in a one day workshop and we had such a great day!

It's good to jump in the deep end sometimes that's what keeps us 'alive' and firing on all cylinders!
I'll be across soon to see how you're getting on. :D

  21. I love that little hermit crab - he looks so cheeky peeking out there!! x Jo

    1. I thought he looked a little cheeky too Jo,
I didn't intend that it's just taking a line for a walk and seeing where it leads...I never know which is both exciting and scary all at once! ;D

I'm trying to coax Mufftypup out of the 'Green Room' for the filming of the giveaway but she's insisting on a little more time to collect herself and prepare! ^..^

Thanks for stopping by...I'm actually in my studio drawing, answering and visiting blogs. The sun is streaming through the window and the music is blasting out! Basically I'm in heaven!
I hope you are too ;D
See you at your place soon xoxo

  22. I love your drawing!! And your lettering looks good. Now about those crabs......sorry, guess I'm one of those in the way back. :D :) I'm a bit late desking...Happy WOYWW! Nan 107

    1. Tut Tut Nan! (hehe)
I knew when I typed that there was no way I could say it any other way to sound different.

You're ahead of me on the desking...I've not even started yet.

I'm in the studio drawing so I'll keep going and join in the desk hopping later.

Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to.
Thanks for popping over to my place ;D

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned.

  23. It's lovely to see you back in the "desk" fold again, Nessie. You've been missed. Your little crab is so fantastic. Your Nephew must have been delighted when this fell on his mat. We all love receiving snail mail, it's so special to get a card or letter that someone has spent time over, although I still enjoy getting electronic mail too.
Thanks for the chance to warm my face in your beautiful sunshine, we are sadly lacking here in the UK. I can't wait for Spring so a little warmth today has been wonderful.
    Happy WOYWW
    Hugs Lisax #63

    1. Hi Lisa,
Well today I'm actually sitting at the desk in the studio with the sun on my back as I draw! Wow how lucky am I?

Trust me I try to appreciate every second because I know how special this is and I want to make the most of it whilst I can. ;D
I adore snail mail but alas today's haul from the letter box only contained bills!

Have a wonderful weekend with lots of creativity.
Have fun desk hopping. I'm organising my giveaway draw today but will visit later and over the weekend. Thanks for stopping by :D

  24. I love that crab!! And I was very good and didn't snigger - honestly!!
Love your desk - busy and creative!
    Happy WOYWW

    1. Good for you Caz, I'm proud of you ;D
My desk hasn't exactly been productive lately but I'm trying to put that right today. I'm sitting at my desk now answering emails, visiting blogs and drawing...so basically I'm in seventh heaven!

Have a fantastic weekend and thanks for popping over to my place.
      Enjoy WOYWW!

  25. Neesie, your little crab for your nephew is just adorable!! What a delightful sense of humor you have and what an amazing artist you are!!

    1. I know its strange that even when I would like to draw seriously these little whimsy designs come out! ;D

Thank you so much for your kind words Darnell...you'll make me blush but I really appreciate them.

Thanks for visiting my place and I'll hopefully get back to you soon.
I'm interested to see what you're up to.

      Have a super weekend :D

  26. Neesie, you always make me laugh and I am glad I was NOT drinking my tea when I read about your nephew's crabs!!! What a BEautimous card and how wonderful to "see" you here this week!!

    1. No-one was more surprised to see me in APR than me Currie,

I'm so glad to hear you weren't drinking your tea either...I'd hate to be responsible for your keyboard flooding or fusing your computer!

I'm busy organising my giveaway but I hope to meet up with everyone from APR at some stage over this coming weekend.

      Have a great weekend! :D

  27. Oooh your craft room looks so light and bright and tidy! I love it! :)

Gorgeous crab card too - I bet your nephew is thrilled with it.

    Ali #73

    1. Hello Ali,
I'm sitting here at my desk as I type...I managed to clear some space and I've actually been drawing. The sun is beaming and the music is playing so I'm in a very happy place. (Sigh)

I hope you are too and that your weekend turns out to be fantastic!
Enjoy WOYWW and I'll visit you soon :D

  28. That is one amazing hermit crab -he is going to love it! You do sketch very, very well, Neesie!

    1. Hi there Minnemie,
Great to see you and thanks for your lovely compliment. It means so much to me :D
I hope you are 'fantabulous' today...I'll come and see you hopefully later today! I need an update!!!! Hehe

  29. So glad you joined WOYWW - your desk looks lovely. All kinds of fun stuff going on. Your hermit crab is adorable. I'm sure your nephew will adore it.
    April #101

    1. Hello April,
I've been involved with WOYWW during the last year but missed over the Christmas and New Year holidays because I decided to go to Canada instead! I know...not enough committment on my part, but I hope to make up for that in the coming months!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment...I love visitors and will nip over to see what's on your desk soon :D
In the meantime have a great day and an even better weekend!

  30. Your light looks perfect to work in. We have seen the sun briefly this week, in between the rain and the snow. You are a very talented lady to draw that wonderful crab. I wish I was as gifted as that. Have a good week in the sun. xx Maggie #11

    1. Well hello there Maggie,
Great to see you and I'm glad to hear that you've seen some sun over this last week. I'm sitting in the studio now with the sunlight streaming in...ahh...it's wonderful. I'm such a happy lucky bunny just now.

Thanks for popping over here and I hope you've had a warm whilst being here. Your comments are very kind and I really appreciate them.
Roll on spring for you...but then that means autumn for me...so let's not be too hasty eh? ;D

  31. I think the card qualifies as crab mail instead of snail mail! lol Love the view of all the sun shining in your craft room, looks very warm and cozy indeed! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥

    1. Hi Sandee,
Great to see you again...its been so long! ;D
I've been at my desk all day! Shameless I know but hey do I care?
I've been drawing, blogging and answering emails all day...can hardly move my neck now but it's been a great day.

I hope you've been keeping busy because I'm heading your way to check out what you've been up to...or what you'll tell us anyway! LOL
One happy bunny waving from the warm sunny studio.
Have a great weekend whatever you have planned...enjoy! :D

  32. you have been a busy busy artist in the last week or so... loved the mail art and Arthur the Party Bear made me crack up... hope he is over his partying by now... and loved the recipe... I am such a sucker for lemon tart...xx

    1. Hello there,
I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing...or should that be "how you're going"? ;D
I hope the floods, gales and hoolies haven't caused any damage and because you're here I'll assume you're all okay! I do hope so.

      Haven't I been a very busy bee lately...hehe :D
In fact I've been in the studio ALL DAY!!! I've also been trying to film the 'giveaway draw'...but the 'Diva' (Muffy) refused to come out of the 'Green Room' needing more time to prepare. I think next time I'll just pick the name out of the hat! :$

Arthur appears to have recovered thankfully...but who knew he was such a party animal? I always thought of him as a stately gentleman! How wrong can you be?

I've got all the APR gang to visit plus the WOYWW too, so I think I'm in for a hectic time trying to fit it all in. I can't wait to catch up and see what you've been up to though.
Have a great night and an even better weekend. Stay safe and thanks for stopping by...I didn't even have the kettle on!

  33. Great crab card .... I am sure he will be very pleased. Your desk looks so organised and always inspiring.

    1. Hello Sandra,
Thanks for popping over to my desk. I didn't particularly feel it was organised but if you say so then that's fine by me!

I've managed to spend some time in the studio last week, which was wonderful. I hope to do the same again this week ;D

Whatever you have planned I hope your week is a good one :D

  34. Wonderful piece for the mail art challenge. Looks to me like you are doing a great job with those new pens.

    1. Aww thank you Darla,
I would perhaps have had more practice with the nibs, if my hubby hadn't have thrown them out. They were in a little paper bag and he thought it was rubbish!
He's not fessing up to it...but we all know it was him. ;D

Have a wonderful creative week whatever you have planned. I'll be along to see soon :D

  35. I absolutely love your hermit crab card, Neesie! That would be a perfect design to scan and make note cards for many kinds of occasions. Blessings!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Arnoldo,
I wasn't sure about the crab but it was just so perfect to send to my nephew now he has this latest hobby.
I've never drawn one before so that was good...stretching me ;D

Thanks for stopping by ~ I'll be over to see what you've been up to soon.
In the meantime have a great week :D

I get so excited to see you here and love to read your thoughts and comments.
I always try to answer each one personally (I think it's only polite)
...♥...I truly appreciate your precious time here so thank you ...♥...
