Grow Your Blog Party....plus a 'GIVEAWAY'

WELCOME EVERYONE...hey let's Party!!!
Just when you may have hit the January blues and recovering from all the holiday festivities, we have another invite to a party! Yay!
This one is a blog party and everyone is invited.
It's the brainchild of the lovely Vickie over at 2 Bags Full.

Grow Your Blog Party

There's even a 'Giveaway'... a kind of party bag for the lucky winner.
So let's get started....

Let me introduce myself...I go by the blog name of 'Neesie' (a nickname that my brother has called me for as long as I can remember) but my name is Denise...not a lot of people know that!
(Initially when I started blogging I wanted to be anonymous)

I love to natter and some say I could even talk under water, so hence the name Neesie Natters!
I first started blogging back in 2009 which is a revelation to me when I checked back to the initial date, because it just feels like it was yesterday.

My daughter suggested that I start to write a blog and I have to admit when she first mentioned it, I hadn't a clue what a blog was never mind how to write one.
And so the steep learning curve began...I've had my ups and downs, my success and my disappointments especially when things didn't go as I thought they should. But that's all been part of an immensely satisfying journey...and one I want to carry on with for as long as I can.
I've met some amazing people along the way and formed some wonderful friendships that I hope will last.
I've also be so incredibly inspired.
I'm trying to improve my writing and photography skills too and when I look back over my posts I can see the progress I've made but it's an ongoing process.

(This photograph was taken in South Africa a few years ago)

So what else can I tell you....?
I've been an expat for the last 24 years or could that be 25 now? I've been travelling around the globe with my hubby and family. I have one daughter aged 27 years old, who now lives in Edinburgh and a son aged 20 who is here with us in Melbourne.
I love nothing better than to have my little chickadees all in one nest at the same time and we've recently been lucky enough to have spent Christmas in Canada together on a wonderful winter wonderland holiday.

I've posted lots of recipes like my Classic Lemon Tart ....

....but my artwork seems to have taken priority lately. That's not to say a recipe might appear at any time.
I'm happy about finally being able to dedicate more time to my art, so I'm a happy bunny!
Here's a little peak into my studio.

And so onto the diva of the family ~ Muffin or Mufftypup ~ our mini shuh tzu.
She is an expat too...flying on her own all the way from the Middle East to Melbourne to be with us.
If you want to see her story then click here

Muffy loves nothing more than doing tricks for some fresh chicken and so when I mentioned that I was going to do another 'GIVEAWAY' she immediately volunteered to take part.

Muffy will once again pick the winner of the 'GIVEAWAY' for all my visitors who leave a comment attached to this post.
She had such a great time last time and don't worry she was well rewarded for her participation.
If you'd like to see her in action click here

So let me show you what's on offer....it's a 2013 calendar containing some of my designs.
I realise that January will be over by the time the winner actually receives this, but hopefully the remaining months will make up for missing January.
Here's the front cover....

So let the party commence...but don't forget to leave a comment below to ensure you're in with a chance of winning.
At this point I should say to all my regular visitors the giveaway is for you too...how could I not include you all....just take a moment and add a comment below and I'll pop you in the draw.
Good Luck everyone!

I'm off to visit all the other party animals now...but why don't you join me?

It's going to be lots of fun!

  1. Denise, I have enjoyed getting to know you. I am sure you are all thawed out from your recent trip ;o) Did you end up getting a cardinal at the bird feeder on Christmas? Love the owl that you drew for the calendar. Have a great day! xo Debbie

    1. Hello Debbie,
We certainly have thawed out now thank you, because just a few days ago we had a night-time temperature of 27 degrees. I nearly melted and thought I'd be better to sleep in the pool all night!

I'm sad to say even though I kept a keen eye out, we didn't see a cardinal anywhere never mind on the feeder...but we did see masses of chickadees. It took them quite some time to find us, but when they did word spread quickly.
I did feel very priviledged though to have seen a black squirrel very fleetingly. They are indeed very black!

You don't say if you want to be in the giveaway draw but I'll put your name in anyway, because you're here and have left a lovely comment.
Thank you for your support ~ I appreciate it :D
See you over on your mountain soon xoxo

  2. Sounds fun, lovely to read about you even though I feel I'm getting to know you more know! I'd love to win so thanks for the chance! We have snow here, started in early hours but now there's a good thick blanket of a about 5/6 inches in places and drifting snow means there's about a foot or more around the car and no access to main road from our access drive! So am staying in my craft room, warm and cosy! Take care Zo xx

    1. Hi Zo,
It's always great to have you visit.
Do you know I had so long to prepare for this blog party and in my usual style, I just wrote the post the night before!!! I'll never learn.
It was difficult to know how much to put in the post and I wanted to add some little details that my usual visitors might not know, but now I realise I could have put in so much more. Ho hum....never mind ;D

I've seen that your snow has finally arrived. I don't blame you for staying in your craft room. The perfect way to appreciate the snow ~ warm and cosy!
You're in the draw...so good luck. I just wish I could give a calendar to everyone. Have a great weekend :D

I've been drawing again this week, but I can't show it just yet because it's for a family member and I don't want to spoil the surprise. I will reveal all as soon as they have received it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with lots of creativity.
      Have fun xoxo

      I'm holding a little back...LOL

Oh, Muffin, I have a special place for you in my heart! Could you be so kind as to pick my name again?!? Or would that be too stingy?

I've always enjoyed coming over and visiting you, Denise, and learning about Australia and seeing your photos of places that I'll probably never get to in person. I'm glad you listened to your daughter and started this blogging journey.

I always like to have you visit Kay, so the feelings mutual. I also love to share my travels and photo shoots, so it's my pleasure and I'm just happy to hear that people enjoy them too.

I'm so glad I started blogging and my daughter knew I'd enjoy it. It's an amazing journey isn't it?

I hope you're having a fantastic weekend. I'll come and visit you as soon as I can...in the meantime you're in the drawer so good luck! :D

    1. Hello Tammy,
Thanks for popping over to my place...it's great to meet you. I'll certainly return the compliment as soon as I can. ;D

We lived in Doha, Qatar for over 6 years and that's where Mufftypup was born. We had to have her join us so she did the long-haul and quarantine bit which was very traumatic for all concerned. Thankfully it was only for one month but I think she actually did better than me.
It was doggy heaven for her here with lush grass, trees, parks and masses of other pooches!

I forgot to say so much more about myself in the post, like the fact that I HAVE to have at least 3 or four books lined up to read which has been the case since I first learnt to read....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back!

I'll pop you into the draw ~ good luck and I'll see you again hopefully. Have a great weekend! :D

My two kids each spent one semester of college in Edinburgh and I was able to travel to see one of them. What a gorgeous city! I'm sure your daughter must love it although it is quite hard for you to have her so far away. I watched Muffin choose your last winner and I must say she is adorable! 1. Hi Linda,
It's great to meet you too. Isn't this a fantastic idea of Vickie's? Bringing all of blogland together! hehe ;D

I'm so happy to hear that you've enjoyed your visit to my place and I hope that you continue to do so.

It's certainly a small world at times...Edinburgh is a beautiful place which always has such a lot going on. It must have been great for your kids to have spent some time there.
It is difficult having my daughter that far away, but we speak in one form or another every day. That way there's never any catching up to do...we each know exactly what's going on.

As for Muffy...oh yes...she knows she's adorable and works it very well. ^..^

I'm hoping to do a lot of blog hopping this afternoon and will certainly nip over to you...so pop the kettle on :D

I do hope you're not struggling too much to sleep at night ;) but you have an open invitation to come cool down if needs be. We've got snow now, so the temperature has risen to above freezing. Just right for those of you in warmer climes to cool down in without risk of frost bite ;)
I chuckled at your tale of Nutkin nipping indoors to pinch a cookie, lol :0) Mo x

I mean...what did I do before then? I have no idea (LOL)and just think I wouldn't have met so many lovely people like yourself ;D
As to Muffy taking bribes...yep she's very fickle and she'll certainly perform if chicken is on offer. Whoops I shouldn't have told you that.

I've been seeing all the snow in the UK on twitter and have to say it all looks lovely, especially if you don't have to go out and about but just want some fun. I feel we've had enough snow for this year with our Canadian trip and it's time to enjoy the summer now.
The pool certainly looks very inviting as I glance out of the window...so it could be a quick dip before lunch. :D

Yep...my daughter is convinced it's the same 'Nutkin' or perhaps son of 'Nutkin' that visited us. We had such a giggle watching his antics.

I'll certainly make sure you're in the draw and wish you good luck. As I mentioned previously to people I just wish I could give everyone a copy.
Have fun and enjoy the snow...keeping cosy of course. xoxo

    1. Hi Tracey,
Well the header is new...ish! I recently changed it but the photo was one that I had from the beginning of my blogging days!
I have to confess (just in case she reads this) that my daughter took the photo. I really like it the best of all the ones I've tried, but I only wanted to challenge myself in changing them...to see if I could do it. Ticked that box...so now it's back to what I like the best.

It's lovely to hear your compliments and I suppose that's what this blogging is all about. Meeting people, making friends, sharing and caring, and passing on inspiration to name but just a few of it's attributes.

I signed up for the blog hopping party months back and it just came up a bite me...I only wrote my promotional post the day before. What's new eh? Tail-end Charlie strikes again!

Have a wonderful weekend enjoying the summer weather. Its perfect here today so we're making the most of it ;D
Catch up with you later xoxo

    1. Hi Hula-la,
I have to admit I'm very lucky to have the studio and that's one of the reasons why I started drawing again...it was too good to let it go to waste. The photo only shows one half of the room and the light in the morning is spectacular.
I have to say that lemon tart is fantastic with a cuppa. It's one of my hubby's favourite recipes, although he has quite a few. When he saw this post he realised that there hasn't been much baking going on around here recently. Well there's only so many hours in a day isn't there?

Thank you for joining my followers...I'm very flattered and thrilled to have you visit. I'll certainly pop you in the draw and hopefully Muffy will make you a winner. Good luck anyway!

    1. I can't believe just how much work and dedication Vickie must have put into this party....she's the perfect host! ;D

I thought that the recipe for the lemon tart was actually in the linked post but when I checked it's not there...it appears to have disappeared! A little like the actual tart does in this house! All very mysterious.
Anyway, a few people have expressed an interest in the recipe so I'll send it through as soon as I find it. It is easy to bake but a little time consuming...but oh soooooooo worth it. :D

I enjoyed drawing the designs so much but it makes it even more enjoyable hearing positive reactions to them. Thank you so much!

I'll be heading over to visit you shortly...so see you then. In the meantime have fun partying!

Yep Muffin very often steals the show ^..^
I often put little snippets in my posts about her and her antics. Along with recipes, gardening, nature, or just whatever takes my eye on the day! I never know what's coming until I start.
It's like my drawing...I just take a line for a walk and see where it leads?
An 'expat' is short for 'expatriate'...which means generally any person living in a different country from where he or she originates from. I was born in the UK and have been living outside in other countries all over the world for the last 24 years! I know I'll head back there eventually but just not sure when. Our life is generally a roller coaster! :$
