Pheasant Painting... PPF

Surprise surprise... this post isn't about Valentine's.
It's okay, there's plenty of time to get to that isn't there?
I've been more focused on my new feathered friend... Mr P
I'm not being unfaithful to hubby or anything that would cause gossip or scandal.
(Sorry if you were expecting more)
Mr P is the pheasant that surprised me with an early morning visit last week.
He obviously approves of our menu because he has regularly revisited.
I couldn't resist painting the amazing colours and pattern of his plumage... so here's my watercolour painting.
I have really enjoyed painting what appears to be a little wild bird collection.
The Firecrest, Bluetit and now the Pheasant.
If you would like to see another bird, then pop your suggestion in the comment section below.
I am thinking I'll have four in the collection or maybe even six if the suggestions inspire me.
Just outside the window are wooden post for the farmers field and yesterday I looked up only to see a stunning Sparrowhawk.
Unfortunately, whilst I reached for my camera I shouted out to my hubby and son who jumped up to see him.
That spooked him and he flew off to the woods.
I must remember to keep my mouth shut if he appears again and capture him on my camera, before letting anyone know he's arrived.

As it's Friday once again I'm linking up with Kristin and Eva's Paint Party Friday
Thanks ladies for hosting once again.
This link is truly a fantastic group of artists who share their creativity and are incredibly encouraging.
Happy Friday everyone and thanks for popping into my place.
I hope to see you again soon.
Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. I'm adamant that he will not be on our menu... I just hope the local gamekeeper doesn't have him on his shopping list.
We very often hear the guns going off (gulp)

    1. I do feel very privileged to have him pop into our garden early in the morning. He's not brave enough to come later in the day, possibly because of Muffin being around. She's not an early riser!

    1. I must admit so do I... I think it's their beautiful colourful plumage, but it's also the way they strut their stuff. They obviously think they're something special... and rightly so in my book.

Your watercolour is magnificent - the colours are rich and do his beautiful plumage such justice. Looks great in the frame too.

    1. I have to admit it is a thrill to have Mr P visit us. He tends to pop in early in the morning... he obviously must realise that Muffin isn't an early riser.
I'm currently painting a Kingfisher and hope to finish him for Friday.
I love these white frames and your comment has reminded me to try to source more.
      Happy PPF to you too.

  14. What a beautiful painting of Mr P — you captured his likeness perfectly! I get daily visits from crows and magpies for their feed of oats and sometimes sunflower seeds. Recently, I noticed some butcher-birds, peewees, and fairy wrens visiting too. None quite as fancy as your Mr P though. Happy PPF!

    1. Thanks Serena, you've reminded me of all the birds that used to visit us when we lived in Melbourne. I'd forgotten all about the butcher bird and adored the fairy wrens.
      Happy PPF to you

    1. Yep all watercolours denthe with a tiny use of a white and black ink pen for highlights etc.
I used masses of under painting until I got to where I wanted. I must admit I'm rather happy with the result. Now I'm working on a Kingfisher... wish me luck!

I say a peregrine showed up in the yard in another town we lived in, was trying to grab a pigeon but of course I didn't have my camera on me. one of those times you wish you had cctv lol

We have so many wood pigeons that if the peregrine falcon went after them, he would certainly be a very podgie indeed!
