It's been a very strange week, but one thing that has kept me sane (or as near to sane as I can be) has been completing this watercolour painting below... of a Mother Giraffe and her Baby.
I've intermittently been watching the live webcam footage of April, the giraffe who is about to give birth any day now, in the USA.
She has quite a fan club and if you'd like to visit... click on the options below:
YouTube, Animal Adventure Park, or Facebook.
I'm trying to set up my Etsy shop once again and these cuties will hopefully appear in time for Mother's Day.
If you'd like to see the painting from the beginning of the process, then click below:
I'll be linking up to WOYWW (if they'll allow me, because I haven't done that for quite some time)
Click here if you'd like to see more work spaces.
And because it's Friday I'll be joining in with the Paint Party Friday

Thanks for your visit and I would love for you to leave a comment so that I know you've been here.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see you again soon
p.s. For those that know Muffin hasn't been well and loosing lots of weight... the latest news is that I've just left her at the vet's once again for her scans, x-rays and investigations.
Can I ask that you use all your positive energy, prayers and thoughts to help Muffin recover.
Thank you

I LOVE your mother giraffe and baby painting. I haven't seen the video that inspired you, so I need to check it out. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Arnoldo... long time no see. Great to have you pop over here once again. April the giraffe has had a live stream running for few weeks now, as the park owners weren't sure of her due date.
DeleteI have found it fascinating plus learning so much that I didn't know about giraffes...plus then being inspired for my painting.
Blessings to you too. Enjoy your week :D
What a fabulous painting. I immediately thought of April even before I read the rest of your post! Happy WOYWW Sarah #25
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah that's brilliant. I;'m so glad you thought of April because that means I must have got it right! We just need her baby to arrive now.
DeleteThanks for visiting. Happy WOYWW to you too
Adorable! I think this is your best painting yet!
ReplyDeleteWow thanks Debra, I really appreciate that :D
DeleteSo precious and very lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful piece of art~
Thanks Jan, it seems to be a hit!
DeleteWhat a beautiful watercolor painting. it reflects tenderness and I am sure it will hop off the shelf in your shop.
ReplyDeleteMonica #38
We shall see Monica, thanks for your kind comment :D
DeleteHi Neesie, lovely painting. I do admire anyone who can do such lovely work. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz#8, XxXx
ReplyDeleteHello Shaz, thanks for your lovely comment. I hope you are having a great week too.
DeleteHappy WOYWW. Fantastic painting. I am only just starting to use watercolours. Giraffes are beautiful - especially their eyes (have you noticed the long eyelashes?). Ali x #27
ReplyDeleteI certainly have noticed AliWade, but I've also noted lots of other details and facts I had no idea about until I really started looking.
DeleteHappy WOYWW to you too.
So beautiful Neesie!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, I was pleased with it too.
Deletehow's muffin? And I'm sorry I missed that about her, last post. I saw the video but missed the words. So sorry about your family member. How are you doing? I've informed mom that you're worried about Muffin, hope there's not bad news.Hugs from here my friend.
ReplyDeleteWe are still going through the trauma of blood tests, scans and x-rays before they will come up with all the answers Jenn.
DeleteHopefully it will be something that can be treated and we can get the old Muffy back.
... then I forget to mention that your painting is wonderful. It should sell well on Etsy for Mother's day. Can't wait to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn, I'll contact you in a separate email :D
DeleteOf course you're allowed! I've been looking in onApril too, such a lovely opportunity. Love the picture, you clever stick. And patient too!
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks Julia, I had fun painting it whilst having the live webcam open... but I got fed up waiting for the new arrival that I painted one in! Much quicker!
DeleteOh Nessie, this one turned out fabulous! LoveloveLove!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Nan! I'm glad you like it :D
DeleteBeautiful painting - I'm sure it won't last long on Etsy! I can see it hanging in a baby's nursery, it would be perfect! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #39
ReplyDeleteOh now that's a lovely thought Lindart.
DeleteI would be thrilled if that happened.
Thanks for your visit and kind words. Have a great week :D
This turned out just beautifully!
ReplyDeleteHope things have settled down for you and that the strange week didn't have to do with Muffy.
Thanks Rita, but I'm afraid some of it is due to Muffy.
DeleteShe's rapidly loosing weight and we are having investigations to find out why. She's currently at the vets for scan's and x-rays as I type.
Gorgeous painting, Neesie! Such a sweet moment captured.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much minnemie, it's lovely to have your kind comment.
DeleteThis is a lovely painting and what a lovely gift for Mothers Day or any day!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Aww thanks Jan. Someone mentioned that the painting would look lovely in a new nursery. I hadn't thought about that, but love the idea.
Deletelooks great! :D I'm surprised she hasn't had the baby yet lol
ReplyDeleteYes, so am I and masses of other people watching the world over Jennifer. I've just checked the live stream and she's looking might big and beautiful.
DeleteYour painting is truly beautiful. I absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Pam, I'm so happy to hear such a crazy amount of praise for it. I loaded it into a group called #teamapril and over 200 people in the group 'liked' it and left comments. That makes me smile :D
DeleteI love it so much !
ReplyDeleteSo lovely.
Thank you Jutta... that's lovely to hear. I am pleased with the outcome too.
DeleteThe finished giraffes are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you NatashaMay... I was pleased with the finished painting, which is quite something for me.
DeleteBeautiful Neesie, and sending prayers for your Muffin.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much Christine. It's a help that we now know what's needed to hopefully help Muffin get better.
DeleteThanks for your prayers.
LOVE, love, love! Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHehe Thanks Valerie,
DeleteHappy PPF to you too
Muffins will be in my prayers ... it is so hard when our little ones are not well. Your Giraffe Mother and baby are precious. I haven't followed April because I didn't know about her ... but I will, for sure, take a peek and bring myself up to date. I love all animals and the giraffe is among my favorites. Thank you for the information and lovely painting.
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
Thank you so much for your kind words Andrea.
DeleteI've found out so much about giraffes since I first met April, but be careful... once you see her it becomes very easy to be hooked. Some people have been watching daily for over 24 days and still no baby.
Personally, I turn off the comments that scroll across the screen, as there are some very strange people out there and it's distracting. April and Oliver (the father to be) are so beautiful... it's a privilege to see this hopefully happy event.
Lovely to see you on here again Nessie and what a treat to see your painting. I just adore giraffes. It's really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKeeping everything crossed for Muffin, it's such a worry when they are poorly isn't?
Hugs Lisax #24
It is indeed Lisa. Thanks for your kind words and welcome. I really appreciate it.
DeleteI am now seeing the giraffe in a completely different light... I've always liked them, but they are now up there with my favourites.
We've had some results from the vet and are working on hopefully making Muffin feel better soon. You're right it is such a worry.
Oh Neesie your giraffe painting is enchanting and oh so endearing!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Muffy. Sending lots of love and positive thoughts for a good outcome. Happy PPF!
Thanks on both counts Linda,
DeleteMuffin has had blood tests, scans and x-rays and we have now got an idea of how to help her... and medication. Hopefully these will take effect soon.
Happy PPF to you too
Such a lovely painting filled with emotion, sending positive vibes to Muffin.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely comment Julie, thank you so much.
DeleteMuffin is on medication now, so hopefully we're over the worse. I appreciate the positive vibes
Beautiful painting of the mother/baby giraffes. Happy week! Dorlene #36
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorlene, I was pleased with the painting.
DeleteI wish you a happy weekend
Beautiful painting! Also, I wonder if that giraffe has a phantom pregnancy? She sure is in no hurry to actually have the baby!
ReplyDelete...and she's still reluctant to let go Sarah (Haha)
DeleteMaybe it's a little stage fright... with so many people watching from around the world... I'd be reluctant to give birth!
Denise this painting is stunning and should be used for prints....and greeting cards! So beautiful in every way!! Such love went into this painting as does it go into Dear Muffin! Sending love and light for her healing...
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
It's funny you say that Giggles because I'm thinking of printing cards and prints. The response has blown me away.
DeleteMy son said he thought it was my best one yet although he's started saying that with each painting... but I do think I'm learning so much with each one and maybe that shows.
Thanks you for your love for Muffin... I'm trying to get medication into her now that hopefully will help. It's a battle of wills!
Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare :D
DeleteWow Denise you really captured the life essence of this mother and baby. Very well done my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nicole, I appreciate your words.
DeleteI was pleased with the outcome.
Love the sweet pair a lot!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and beautiful.... Sorry to hear about Muffin, hope she'll recover soon!
ReplyDeleteAn exceptionally lovely painting Neesie. It's so endearing.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes as you set up your Etsy shop, you will do so well because you paint with emotion :D)
