Hello everyone... TGIF as they say, although the weekends are very much like the weekdays now.
It's been quite a busy stressful time here, with trying to get Muffin back to health.
I've just come back from the vets yet again.
We've been every other day for two weeks now, but we think we're making some progress.
No more trying to hide tablets in food... she sussed that one out very early on.
We now manhandle her and squirt the meds down her throat by syringe.
It's a two man job which is quite unbelievable as she's only a mini shihtzu.
Anyway, her weight has stopped dropping, so the 'roast chicken' and carbs with added sensitivity food seems to be working.
Yesterday, she was more like her old self than she has been for weeks.
I suppose this could be taken as my excuse for not having artwork to show you this week... but I have had a little play with the Muffin painting.
It's still unfinished, but hopefully I'll be able to spend a little more time on it soon.
They look a little scary with their staring eyes at the moment...but I feel this painting will be one that will be played with for quite some time to come.
There can be so many layers added when hair is involved.
I thought I'd give myself a little treat and draw something that I can relax with... to lose myself in and my son came up with the perfect idea.
A Tiger!
I'm hoping you will be able to see the few pencils lines that I've used to get the dimensions.
I'll be using black ink to add in the details.
I drew a wolf a few years back for my son and so will keep to that kind of design.
Finally, before I leave you today I thought I'd let you see my Mother and Baby Giraffe A5 prints.
(They are available in my Etsy show...see button in my sidebar)
I'm still watching the Giraffe Live webcam of April and Oliver over at the Animal Adventure Park
I can't believe that she's not had her baby yet... she looks like she's about to burst!
Some people have been watching the live webcams every day/night since February!
Hehe...I'm thrilled because I now have my own little herd!
One more thing before I go... I must apologise to everyone that has visited me and left me beautiful messages. I'm sorry that I haven't been visiting everyone...but as I mentioned it's been quite a few hectic weeks, so please forgive me and I'll try to get to you soon.
In the meantime... have a wonderful weekend and I'm off to see the Paint Party Friday gang...why not join me...just click here
Super art
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare :D
DeleteLove the doggies. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI hate publishing unfinished work Valerie, but at least with linking to PPF it keeps me at least attempting to produce a finished piece of artwork. Have a great weekend... happy PPF to you too
DeleteBeautiful art work ~ my favorite are the doggies ~ so adorable and expressive ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Weekend ^_^
I hope to finish the doggies over the coming week Carol. I hope it'll be worth the wait ;D
DeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend
brilliant art Neesie!! Happy to hear Muffin is on the mend. If only she'd take her meds... Have a great weekend and happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite a performance with this little diva and quite exhausting at times. It's not like having a child where you can persuade them to take medicine because they know it'll make them better, plus they can have a nice treat afterwards.
DeleteI can't believe how much effort has had to go into .1 of a kilo's weight gain!
Happy PPF and weekend to you too :D
Beautiful art Neesie! Muffin is adorable and that is great news that she is gaining a bit of weight back.
ReplyDeleteI love your wolf and I am sure that your tiger will be just as wonderful! I could see the lines :)
Happy PPF!!!
Thanks so much Jan, yes I'm hoping that we are on the road to recovery now. I am feeling I've been spending far too much time with the vet recently ;D
DeleteAs for the tiger I am going to use it as a relaxation tool. I love to just use ink and find that my mind can wander for hours when I'm just doodling.
Happy PPF to you too. Have a great weekend.
Neesie, what talent! Love the mom and baby giraffe painting so much! And the pups' portrait has a great start and not scary at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Faye, yes I'm pleased with the prints of the giraffes. I really enjoyed paint them too.
DeleteI'm not so sure about not being scary... I need to definitely soften their stares.
I have been watching April's progress too! Can't wait. I love giraffes and your giraffe painting is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Emma, I just thought I'd create the painting whilst waiting for the new calf to arrive. I'm still waiting and now on my third creation!
DeleteI think it's going to be pretty soon though, don't you?
Come on April ;D
I really love your pencil and ink piece.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie, I find them very relaxing to draw, so thought I'd give myself a treat.
DeleteAdorable paintings- I like them all especially the giraffes!
ReplyDeleteAww bless you Susi, thanks so much for your lovely comment :D
DeleteGlad to hear Muffin is starting to feel better. Your painting of her is coming along so nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra, it's such a relief to feel she's on the right side of this now. Hopefully she'll continue to put on weight. It's been quite a challenge.
DeleteI've had fun painting more of the picture this afternoon... not sure if it's finished yet, so I've come away to take another look later. This is the stage where I often get confused... finished or not... that is the question!
Thanks for today's art show!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see other works in progress. I always learn a lot and am more tolerant of my own works. The wolf is striking!
ReplyDeleteMe too Joy, I love to see someone's work progress so I think even though I don't like to put my own unfinished work out there, it's better than not at all.
DeleteHopefully I can show the completed painting next week plus others.
I've had fun this afternoon as I started the tiger!
Beautiful artwork my dear. Never worry about responding to me, I know what an amazing polite, kind, special artist/mother/person you are!! Good to hear Muffin has stopped losing weight. I know full well about little dogs and medicine..they are just WAY too smart. Holding them down to get the liquids in, also a stressful nightmare!! Still praying for her full recovery!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Oh wow Giggles you've blown me away with your lovely comment. I've read and reread it a few times. Does that make me sad? I think it's just the sort of comment I needed this week. So thank you my friend.
DeleteAs for the medication circus... I can't believe it's getting easier. She's not fighting us half as much which is such a relief. I think the treat at the end is the main thing on her mind. Steroids certainly produce an appetite!
She is currently off in the nearby woods no doubt sniffing every available surface. I'm off to get the paw spar ready for her return. I've decided I'd much rather have muddy paws than her stuck curled up in her bed sick!
Hugs and huge thanks to you...you made me smile :D
Love the herd of giraffes, the pups and the very intricate wolf.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Granny Annie, it's wonderful to hear positive feedback.
Deleteglad to hear the Muffster is feeling better, good chicken will do that, lol. IT's also great that her meds come in liquid form, would have been great to be able to use a syringe. She'll get better at it as you do it more. Hang in there my friend and no guilt with being behind, family is first and of course that includes Muffy. Hugs my friend.
ReplyDeleteAww bless you Jenn,
DeleteYou are totally right of course... she is getting a little better at letting us squirt nasty tasting medication down her throat, because it comes with a lovely treat afterwards.
The steroids are definitely making her appetite improve which is a help too. Back to the vets on Monday. Hugs back to you friend :D
Hi Neesie, glad to hear Muffin is on the mend... isn't she such a one with the taking (or not) of her medicine!
ReplyDeleteI do love your progress with her paintings, I feel her eyes are incredible, so shiny and bright ... no, not scary :D)
Lovely giraffe pieces as well.
Take care, you've been very busy... blogging takes up a lot of time, we all know that. Cheers now :D)
Oh Sue it's been quite a week and let me tell you Muffin has upped her game. We now have tablets and liquid medication so it's high jinks every few hours. We've steadied the weight loss so at least that's working.
DeleteI've managed to add a little to the painting, but I'm not sure it's completed yet. I'll have to review and make a decision.
That's the part that I find the hardest.
Continuing my hugs and prayers for McMuffy. Do hope she continues to improve. The wolf is pretty cool and no doubt the tiger will be too. Love the giraffes. How neat you've made prints of them! Take of yourself. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Nan, I'm happy to report we've halted McMuffy's weight loss, but it's still a painful process trying to get her to eat and take her medication. She seems to take up all of my time at the moment.
DeleteThanks for your lovely comment. It's just the sort of thing I need to hear just now.
Hugs to you too :D
Í am glad Muffin is better now. The painting is turning out so sweetly. I love also the giraffes.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy April ❤
Thanks Sirkkis, I had fun painting the giraffes, but struggling a little with Muffy's painting. I'm not sure whether I've finished it or not at the moment... the jury's out for now.
DeleteHappy April to you too
You are my hero for sure - love you, love your art and I love Muffin. I am so glad she is better.
ReplyDeleteYour art work is really very good - now drawing the tiger like you did the wolf would drive me up a wall. I do love tigers though!
Sandy xx
It's funny, but I find drawing the ink drawing's very relaxing.
DeleteI need help relaxing with all this Muffy business lately. We have to administer tablets and liquid medication and let me tell you... that's quite a challenge.
We've halted the weight loss, so hopefully we're over the worst.
She's on steroids now and getting to be a little more like herself.
Thanks for all your love... it's much appreciated ❤
Glad to hear Muffy is on the mend. Definitely worth the two-man-hold-her-down job even if she doesn't understand why. So glad to hear some good news. I like the tiger idea and remember the wolf. :) Been watching April (well, peeking here and there) since I was sick and heard about her from you--LOL! I've been thinking April was waiting for April for a long time...and she did. Love your mama and baby giraffe painting. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes Rita I'm happy to report Muffy is doing better, although we've got to administer tablets and liquid medication numerous times a day. I think she's getting used to being man-handled.
DeleteAt least we've halted the weight loss, so hopefully we're over the worst.
I'm still watching and waiting for April to give birth. Hopefully it won't be much longer.
Nessie your art is always so beautiful and inspirational. Have a lovely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much Nicole... that's very kind of you.
DeleteGood to hear that Muffin is getting better. I love to 'doodle' in ink as well as a help to relax - works every time. Your wolf looks awesome and I bet the tiger will be, too.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I haven't had much time to carry on with the tiger Claudia, but I hope to soon. I find it very relaxing.
DeleteI hope you will have the time soon, your wolf is gorgeous. FYI - I was so impressed with your wolf I started on a tiger myself and am linking to your work on my latest post. I hope you do not mind.
DeleteLove all the animals, looking forward to the finished Muffin painting. Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteThe wolf art is absolutely stunning!!! LOVE it.
