Updates

Whilst on our walk this morning, Muffin and I passed one of the trees I planted back in September 2010. http://neesienatters.blogspot.com/2010/09/blog-post_19.html I planted lots of grasses and trees on that particular Sunday morning as part of the Volunteer Community Planting scheme, and promised fellow volunteers that I'd keep an eye on them all.
As you can see this particular one has come on great over the last year.

If you were part of the gang that day then you may like to see its progress.

Which then got me thinking about other updates that may be of interest
(I really need an excuse to stop looking at properties online)
So here's a few updates...
At some stage I'd like to get back to some baking, whilst I still have this great kitchen to hand. I have a recipe for some Easter scones that taste just like hot cross buns - yummy and so simple.
Anyway, I suppose I've had a break so its time I got back to the house search.
If I've missed an update on something you have read previously and would like to know what's happened since then, just let me know.

How Dare They....?

It was a beautiful morning with sun, blue sky and a perfect temperature....
just what we need before the start of autumn next week.
It certainly wasn't the sort of morning that you would want spoiling by an invasion!
I'm not talking of the little green men or the body-snatching kind - no just small, wrinkly, furry greedy insatiable hungry grubby kind!

I've been painstakingly taking tender care of my plants over the summer months, and none more so than my vine. Call me naive but I'm hoping that I might actually produce a grape from it one day soon. (It might well be ONE grape if I'm lucky) Hope springs eternal....

Anyway, but look what horrors I found....

It's necessary to just comment here that I can appreciate the beautiful colours, patterns etc of these creatures - BUT NOT ON MY VINE

I love to have butterflies hovering around the garden and so therefore a small thought passed through my head, that perhaps I should leave them to evolve, but then there are so many my plant would be stripped. They've got to go!
I know we share this planet but please not my vine.....

I tried to identify them by going online, but unfortunately the more I looked at numerous photo's the more sickly I began to feel. Breakfast began to talk back to me. Especially after watching so many of them inch there way along the leaves....gulp.
If anyone knows more about them, or what I can do to evict them, other than snipping off all the munched leaves, please let me know.

Crawling Caterpillar

I have to apologise for my rushed posting today....basically I've been trying to finish my 'Work in Progress'. Its certainly taken more time than I originally thought but I'm almost there. To make matters though, I decided I'd also rub down the garden furniture ready for summer! I know I wonder about my sanity too. I haven't taken any photo's of this project - well how much sandpaper and sawdust do you need?

But what did catch my attention was this caterpillar
I have to confess that this photo was taken by my son. He has a better camera than I do, (well that's my excuse) but I think you'll agree he also an artistic eye.
