Well hello there...
It's been simple ages since I joined in with the WOYWW gang but I'm pleased to be able to show you my desk today.
(If you're wondering what on earth I'm talking about...it's all due to Julia over at Stamping Ground so pop over there to check it out if you can).
So without further ado...here's the desk.
I decided to draw my sisters garden as a line drawing (it's safer than painting for me...but hopefully I'll develop my painting skills when I join the art group in September).
It's all from memory but I've tried to include some of the major features.
There's so much in her garden, so I had to edit. The pond isn't featured which is a shame nor the fox, but there's the vine and apple tree, plus some of the visitors that pop in regularly...cats, squirrel and masses of birds.
I love to draw using a black ink pen. I find it incredibly relaxing once I know the design I'm aiming for....before that it can be a little stressful. This is something else I've got to work on.
The photos above show the progress of the drawing.
And here's the finished piece.
I've just come off the phone from nattering with her and yes she's pleased (phew)

We're both big gardening fans (if you remember we visited Chelsea Flower Show last month together with my daughter and had a great trip)
In keeping with the garden theme today...here's a photo of a little peony and sweet pea posy that I picked from the garden. The perfume is enough to knock your socks off!
So I'll let you get on with desk hopping and having fun with the WOYWW gang.

Thanks for stopping by
Hopefully I'll see you again soon
Hello Neesie. Seems like ages since I communicated - sorry!!! Life has been somewhat hectic with hubby being so very poorly for what feels like the whole of the time since last Christmas!!!!!! An art group come September!! Good for you. Hope you really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of your sister's garden. You have a lovely style.
Have a great week.
Margaret #9
Hey no apology needed here Margaret...I'm the world's worst ;D
DeleteI hope your hubby is feeling better and beginning to recover. That's quite a time to feel unwell. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
The art group was supposed to be up and running at the end of this month but has been pushed back with so much happening here in Scotland over the summer.
I'll just be raring to go by the time it starts!
Thanks for the compliment about the drawing. I relaxed and enjoyed drawing it. I wasn't sure whether to add colour. A garden is supposed to be colourful after all. But I only wanted to draw so it's a pen and ink instead.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. xoxo
Gorgeous drawing Nessie. Great composition. It's lovely even without colour.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
Gillian #28
Thanks Gillian,
DeleteI had fun and enjoyed recreating some of the garden. I suppose that's the most important thing but I was thinking that it was shouting out for colour. If I painted it then I'd probably have ruined it. I need to practice my painting skills...hence the pending art group.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by xoxo
What awesome photos and pictures. It looks so nice. Sister has a nice garden. Have to make it short.. Thanks so much for letting me have a peek. Bert 96
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure Roberta,
DeleteThanks for stopping by anyway.
Have a great weekend ;D
Whoa! I absolutely adore your drawing of your sister's garden. It looks like a very happy place to be. I can see why you find drawing relaxing, especially when you draw such calming places. I confess I'm a bit envious of your ability to draw too. Happy WOYWW! Judy #72
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic relaxing place Judy...especially because all the work isn't done by me! (lol) She has a beautiful pond too which I never included in the drawing ;D
DeleteI love to draw, but I'd like to be able to paint more confidently next. It's on the agenda.
Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a happy time desk hopping.
xoxo
Whoa Nellie! (it's a yank expression) Fabulous drawing....in pen and ink as they say!! Love love the peony and sweet pea. My goodness it's been ages since I've had a whiff of their winder scent. So happy to see you joining WOYWW today. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #53
ReplyDeleteI love your yank expressions Nan ;D
DeleteI wish your screen was a scratch and sniff because the perfume coming from the posy is incredible... enough to knock your socks off (although you won't be wearing sock now in your heat!)
I was waiting for my sister to receive the drawing before posting but it worked out just right for Wednesday and WOYWW.
Hugs backatcha and have a great time snooping...I mean desk hopping!
xoxo
In reading yesterday and todays blogs you are blessed. Life seems to be going will for you and especially a 35 year marriage. I can't get over the detail you put into your drawings. Everytime I look at it I see something else. Glad to see you are back to drawing. I look forward to reading your blog and all your adventures. I've always want to go to UK being my mother's maiden name was McAnalleen. So I get to live it through your blogs. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI know Pam...I'm such a lucky lady! ;D
DeleteI could have included so much more from my sister's garden like her pond for instance and the beautiful blossom tree but I didn't want to overcrowd the drawing.
Yes I'm trying to get back to more art and I haven't forgotten that I've got a little something to create for you from the Pass It On Party event.
I did leave a message on Goggle+ for you but I'm not sure you use that any more.
I'm so happy to hear you enjoy reading my blog and I hope that I can keep making it worthwhile.
Interesting hearing about your heritage...I'll have to look up details of McAnalleen?
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by once again xoxo
Well hello there! I must say your sister's garden looks mighty fine as a line drawing. You are a very talented lady. Lovely to see you here again. Take care Lovely. Zo xx 46
ReplyDeleteYou should see the real thing Zo...it's a credit to all the love, time and effort that's put into it ;D
DeleteAww you're making me blush but I'm not sure talented is the right word. Maybe just lucky that the pen goes in the right direction on our walks.
It's been quite some time since my visits but I've never gone very far. It's good to see everyone once again.
Have a great weekend and I'm seriously impressed with your wee jockey. He certainly looks the part ;D
xoxo
The posey is simply gorgeous... And the drawing is very special... It would make a lovely page in a grown up colouring book... As to a 35th anniversary and an anniversary of leaving Australia... Well one makes me happy, but the other a little sad... It is a quieter country without you...xx
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you should say that about the adult colouring book Tracey, because a few have said the same thing.
DeleteI'll maybe have to have a look into that although I haven't a clue where to go? :/
Yep...35 years wow...who would believe it? Certainly not me because I'm not even that old!
Ahh yes...I miss Oz too :( Who knows if this summer doesn't buck up it's ideas, I may well return if the locks haven't been changed!
Enjoy your first weekend without a care
xoxo
I can tell July is going to be a fabulous month for you, I love your Sister's garden and great to see you back at your desk.
ReplyDeleteHave a great summer, we're just off to catch a plane for some Asian warmth!
Wren x
Oh I do hope so Wren ;D
DeleteI suppose you've already flown to thaw out! (lol) I hope you're having a great time. Can you send me some heat please.
Enjoy! xoxo
Hi Nessie, Happy WOYWW. Oh wow your drawing is fabulous, so detailed, and the peony is beautiful...gorgeous pink. Cheers and have a lovely week RobynO#8
ReplyDeleteHi Robyn,
DeleteHappy belated WOYWW to you too ;D
Thanks for your kind comment on my drawing. I enjoyed finally spending a wee while in the art room.
The peony seems to get bigger and bigger each day! Gorgeous.
Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned ;D
Loving the drawing and look forward to seeing more of your work.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting, Angela x #48
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Angela,
DeleteI'd love to spend more time creating but it's just unfortunate that life gets in the way sometimes.
Happy crafting to you too.
Enjoy your weekend ;D
Hi Neesie,
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Your drawing is great; love all the visitors your sister has in her garden. I found a shedded snakeskin in my yard a few weeks back. As long as it's a garter snake and not a rattler I'm fine with it!
Your desk looks perfect. What a great view. Love the vase of flowers. Peonies is one of my all time favorites!
Thank you for visiting me already. My connection was so slow yesterday (at home) that I decided I'd do my visiting from work today (shhh).
Hugs,
Kay (60)
Hey Kay great to see you ;D
DeleteThanks for the welcome and lovely comment. My sister has lots of other visitors like a fox for a start but I had to stop somewhere. Don't think she has snakes though otherwise she'd move I think!
I'm glad I chose the right vase to show you because I have three others about the place. I love to bring flowers in from the garden, plus we had visitors and an anniversary so lots of blooms about. Not much fun for the hay fever sufferer :(
By the way your secrets safe with me...I won't tell a soul that your playing whilst supposedly working. hehe
Hugs to you and I hope you're having a wonderful weekend
xoxo
(muffy says hi too ^..^)
Hello Nessie, your drawing is so lovely as is the photo of the flower. Thank you for posting this bit of inspiration from your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's my pleasure Irene,
DeleteI enjoy drawing and finding inspiration from blogging so it's nice to pass it on ;D
Enjoy your weekend and apologies it's taken me this long to reply.
Wow, what a great drawing, I think you'll do well at art classes! Have a great weekend, sorry I'm late. Helen 2
ReplyDeleteHey I'm even later Helen so don't apologise ;D
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment too
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Nessie, wow those flowers are so beautiful and your drawing skills are incredible. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs Eliza & Yoda 81
Hey Eliza, great to have you and Yoda visit once again,
DeleteI had lots of fun with the drawing and those flowers have been scenting the whole downstairs since I brought them indoors.
Hugs back to you too ;D
Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned...have fun!
Hi Neesie, nice to meet up with you again. Hope you have settled well into your new home in Scotland. Love the line drawing of your sisters garden there is so much detail in it. I can only say WOW! to that beautiful pink Peony and pretty Sweet Pea posy. Wish we had smell-a-blog lol Hugs Lottie #64
ReplyDeleteWell hello there Lottie...it's good to see you too ;D
DeleteI can't believe that we've been back here a year already, probably because it's been none stop since we landed. All good though.
Thanks for your lovely comment on my drawing and sister's garden and yeah wouldn't smell-a-blog be something. Maybe you should patent the idea (lol)
Hugs to you too .... enjoy your weekend
