This morning hubby brought my cup of tea and announced that I should take some photo's of the early morning sun on the daffodils...because of his enthusiasm and insistence that I wouldn't want to miss it... curiosity got the better of me and I just had to take a peek... even before taking my first sip of tea.
Serious stuff!
So whilst still in my dressing-gown, I grabbed my camera and headed out onto the driveway.
I have to admit it was a delightful sight and I have to say, I'm pleased that the hours of kneeling planting bulbs back in the autumn certainly paid off.
I actually wandered down the lane and took some more photo's facing back towards the house and garden.
Thankfully it was early and with it being a Saturday morning, there wasn't any traffic.
Only a truck came by, but thankfully I'd finished taking my photo's when he appeared and I was almost back inside the house.
I can't imagine what the driver might have thought seeing a woman dressed in a white long hooded robe, armed with a camera wandering along the country lane!
There are lots of blooms appearing as the garden begins to wake up.
Hubby's veg plot is progressing nicely... I'll post about it soon...hopefully when the early potatoes show themselves. At the moment, hubby is a little worried that he didn't 'chit' well enough and they might not appear, but we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
This is a little tribute for someone who was special that we had to say goodbye to this week.

Such a lovely look at spring, the daffodils are going on and on this year.
ReplyDeleteI planted over 100 new bulbs last autumn, so it's great to see them come up. Hours on my knees planting wasn't time wasted!
DeleteIt's always lovely to see the daffodils come into bloom. They were my late mother-in-law's favourite flowers - it was her first birthday since she passed away a week or so ago, so we made sure we had some in the house just to mark the day.

DeleteAbsolutely worth taking a chance that someone would come along and see you in a hooded white robe and mistake you for a spirit out for a walk taking pictures of the gorgeous, spring flowers ������

DeleteThe daffodils are so pretty in the Spring sunshine. I did chuckle at the thought of you out in your dressing gown taking photos in the country lane. I have to admit I would have done just the same - I've often nipped out to the garden in my pyjamas to take some photos in the morning and wondered what the neighbours must think!

DeleteBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful -- I do love the rock wall too. I planted a lot of daffodil bulbs when we lived in the mountains. I don't think bulbs do well here.

Thanks Sandy, the rock wall extends to half of the garden grounds, the rest is hedged and fences to the farmland. I suppose it is our little piece of heaven and that's why I wanted to return here from our overseas travels. I know that we will have to 'right size' (I refuse to use the word...down-size) as it is rather large and it will become too much for us to manage. But for now we are just enjoying being here.

ReplyDeleteI planted 800 bulbs last autumn (not all daffodils) which was quite a task, but it's great to see the fruits of my labour now that they are beginning to appear. Some I'd even forgotten that I'd planted them :D

Really Jennifer, I thought if they were out here they'd be out everywhere. Our tulips are coming to bulb now too, so there'll be more splashes of colour soon.
