This morning hubby brought my cup of tea and announced that I should take some photo's of the early morning sun on the daffodils...because of his enthusiasm and insistence that I wouldn't want to miss it... curiosity got the better of me and I just had to take a peek... even before taking my first sip of tea.
Serious stuff!
So whilst still in my dressing-gown, I grabbed my camera and headed out onto the driveway.
I have to admit it was a delightful sight and I have to say, I'm pleased that the hours of kneeling planting bulbs back in the autumn certainly paid off.
I actually wandered down the lane and took some more photo's facing back towards the house and garden.
Thankfully it was early and with it being a Saturday morning, there wasn't any traffic.
Only a truck came by, but thankfully I'd finished taking my photo's when he appeared and I was almost back inside the house.
I can't imagine what the driver might have thought seeing a woman dressed in a white long hooded robe, armed with a camera wandering along the country lane!
There are lots of blooms appearing as the garden begins to wake up.
Hubby's veg plot is progressing nicely... I'll post about it soon...hopefully when the early potatoes show themselves. At the moment, hubby is a little worried that he didn't 'chit' well enough and they might not appear, but we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
This is a little tribute for someone who was special that we had to say goodbye to this week.

Such a lovely look at spring, the daffodils are going on and on this year.
ReplyDeleteI planted over 100 new bulbs last autumn, so it's great to see them come up. Hours on my knees planting wasn't time wasted!
DeleteIt's always lovely to see the daffodils come into bloom. They were my late mother-in-law's favourite flowers - it was her first birthday since she passed away a week or so ago, so we made sure we had some in the house just to mark the day.
ReplyDeleteI also had a vase of daffodils and a candle burning this last week in memory of another great lady.
DeleteAbsolutely worth taking a chance that someone would come along and see you in a hooded white robe and mistake you for a spirit out for a walk taking pictures of the gorgeous, spring flowers
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought too Jan, but not until I was actually in the lane! I think I was more concerned with capturing the images and returning for my cup of tea.
DeleteJust so beautiful Neesie. I love early mornings for the sights and sounds x
ReplyDeleteMe too Cathy, but normally after my first cuppa. It's a shame these images don't come with sound because the bird song was incredible.
DeleteBeautiful way to start the day, love the daffodils enjoying the sun too
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Well it would have been the perfect start to the day Darren, if only I'd managed to drink my cuppa first!
DeleteThe daffodils are so pretty in the Spring sunshine. I did chuckle at the thought of you out in your dressing gown taking photos in the country lane. I have to admit I would have done just the same - I've often nipped out to the garden in my pyjamas to take some photos in the morning and wondered what the neighbours must think!
ReplyDeleteI suppose if the light is right and the image is there waiting to be captured, then who cares about the attire...whether it be jimjams, robe or onesie...it's go, go, go!
DeleteWhat a great start to the day with spring-y sights such as these. Daffodils are such beauties!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that I spent hours planting the bulbs last autumn, now that they're popped up to see the sun. Such a delight seeing them dancing in the sunlight!
DeleteHow beautiful! What a fabulous welcome to your place. I love daffodils and miss them as they won't grow in FL. I saved one of your pics and will try to paint it. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYes Nan, I suppose they do provide a colourful welcome, but I've never thought of that before :D
DeleteI really missed so many plants when I lived in the Middle East, so I know how you feel. I'm flattered that you are going to use one of my pics for painting. Don't forget to let me see it when it's done.
I just love the sun on the Spring flowers and it was definitely worth you getting out to take them #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you liked seeing the my spring flowers. We've had quite a few good days of sunshine, so all the blooms are bursting open.
DeleteThey are so beautiful! I love that you've got all different varieties and colours too!
ReplyDeleteI spent hours planting them last autumn Sarah, so I'm so happy they have survived and are putting on quite a show.
DeleteBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful -- I do love the rock wall too. I planted a lot of daffodil bulbs when we lived in the mountains. I don't think bulbs do well here.
ReplyDeleteOnce again Denise - I think you live in heaven and you have more talents than Carter has little liver pills!
Sandy xx
Thanks Sandy, the rock wall extends to half of the garden grounds, the rest is hedged and fences to the farmland. I suppose it is our little piece of heaven and that's why I wanted to return here from our overseas travels. I know that we will have to 'right size' (I refuse to use the word...down-size) as it is rather large and it will become too much for us to manage. But for now we are just enjoying being here.
DeleteBy the way I have never heard the saying Carter and his liver pills...but I looked it up, so I'm all switched on now! (Haha)
Thsnks for sharing this beautiful sight!
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure Christine :D
DeleteLovely photos. Daffodils certainly brighten up the garden after winter - I think I'll have to plant more for next year as ours are looking a bit thin on the ground!
ReplyDeleteI planted 800 bulbs last autumn (not all daffodils) which was quite a task, but it's great to see the fruits of my labour now that they are beginning to appear. Some I'd even forgotten that I'd planted them :D
DeleteThey are very lovely indeed and I feel exactly the same about all the bulbs I plants in the Autumn and am determined to add to them again this year. I want my whole front garden to just be a sea of them
ReplyDeletemollyx
I planted 800 bulbs last autumn Molly, so it's fantastic that they are all beginning to pop up to see the sunlight!
DeleteAt the time it was hard work putting them in, but now I'm loving the results.
Ahh they've bloomed so well. Definitely a labour of love there and I would run out in my robe too :)
ReplyDeleteHehe...it's good to know that I'm not alone.
DeleteI planted 800 various bulbs back in the autumn, so I just need all the others to pop up next :D
no sign of daffies here yet, but hopefully soon. some of the tulips have come up tho :)
ReplyDeleteim sure the trucker has probably seen a lot odder sites on the road, might have been one of the more normal ones lol
Really Jennifer, I thought if they were out here they'd be out everywhere. Our tulips are coming to bulb now too, so there'll be more splashes of colour soon.
DeleteAww thanks for calling me normal...sometimes my family wonder!
the ones in the garden were planted late but dont see any around town either so its odd
DeleteOh that is a little odd. They're all over the grass verges, riverbanks and gardens here. Very strange and I have no idea why that would be :/
Deletethought it was odd too, they are in the farm verges but not really seen any around town
DeleteLovely photographs - daffodils are such a wonderful Spring flower.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Aren't they just Jan... they're like glorious bright little sunshine.
DeleteHave a great week
What a nice flower lighting. Lovely spring pictures
ReplyDeleteThanks, I just couldn't resist capturing them in the early morning light.
