A very quick post today because apparently it's my Wedding Anniversary!
In my defence I didn't actually forget the anniversary...just that today was Friday.
The beautiful perfumed rose appearing on my bedside cabinet gave me the sharp reminder,
It's actually my hubby's fault that I didn't realise it was today, because since he left work I have lost track of which day it is. They all seem to merge together.
Anyway...apparently we are going out for the day...so I must be quick linking up with Paint Party Friday.
I've started to paint a chicken.
It seems that they are ruling our roost these days, so it's inevitable that I would attempt to paint one sooner or later.
As you can see it's a WIP as I'm only just beginning to add the many layers.
I also wanted to share something very special to my heart today.
A very thoughtful friend (#Jeff_and_Kathleen) organised a fantastic surprise for me.
She arranged for a very talented artist in America to draw Muffin's portrait.
They decided which photographs to use and I can't believe that #Vinnie_van_go_gee managed to capture not only Muffy's likeness so well, but also her personality.
This one is taken from my favourite photograph.
Now I have these amazing pencil portraits to treasure forever.
I mean...just look at those eyes!
Incredible talent.
Thank you my friends
💖💖💖💖
Have a great weekend and thanks for your visits.
Thanks also to Eva and Kristin for Paint Party Friday and all participants to continue to inspire.
Fantastic portrait, really a treasure. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

ReplyDeleteOh now I realise that I've taken far too long to reply to your comment...it seems ages ago since we celebrated our anniversary...but thank you anyway. The portraits are so special to me. I'm having frames made and will treasure them. I've also managed a little hen painting so hopefully by Friday it might be complete. Hugs back to you.

Wasn't it thoughtful Jennifer and I adore them :D
DeleteAs for the chickens...I'm not sure that they will be any particular breed...just whatever happens with the paints on the day really.
My hubby is saying that it looks like 'Flo' so maybe it'll be fine.

What a very thoughtful gift to have such gorgeous portraits of your darling Muffin. It looks like they captured her spirit and personality beautifully. Happy PPF!
Well I suppose it's a must really isn't it Linda. I mean someone would be extremely disappointed if I didn't attempt to paint them. Having said that though, they might not look anything like the girls we have here. They may be a complete new species after I've finished with them :/
DeleteMuffin's portraits are just perfect and will be treasured for sure. I'm organising frames this week. Happy PPF to you
Love your chicken! And the Muffin portrait is just fantastic.

Anniversary seems a distant memory now...I've obviously taken too long to reply to your comment. We had a great day and evening celebrating.

Happy PPF to you Victoria :D
I love the start of your chicken - looking great!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a thoughtful and gorgeous gift your friends thought of. The portraits are beautifully drawn :D)
The surprise portraits were a wonderful surprise and gift. Incredible artistic talent and they reduced me to floods of tears with the amazing likeness to my beautiful Muffy.
DeleteI will treasure them always.
I've been adding more layers to the chicken, but it's still early days yet. Hopefully it will look like a chicken and not a different unknown species!
What an adorable puppy face! :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteI know she was such a cutie and Gee has captured her image and personality so well. Amazing talent :D
DeleteOhhh lovely pieces but I am really liking the rooster.
ReplyDeleteReally Nicole??? Okay let's hope I'm able to carry on and produce a reasonable looking chook! See you Friday ;D
DeleteStunning of Muffin I bet your cried... Love them. What a loving gesture!! Very kind people out there...make up for so much sadness!! Your rooster is wonderful... Happy Anniversary...hope it was a joyous occasion full of love and giggles!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
I most certainly did cry Giggles...buckets and each time I look at them my eyes fill up, tummy does a flip or something similar and I get a lump in my throat. I couldn't believe that someone would be so kind and thoughtful to arrange this surprise and then the talent of the artist to produce such a fantastic likeness to her. I know how difficult it is, because I tried so many times to paint her myself.
DeleteThe Anniversary celebrations went well with a lovely day out at a castle and dinner in a great restaurant.
The chook progresses but we shall have to see how it ends up...I'm still adding many layers yet. Hopefully I'll manage to finish it before Friday! Hugs back to you ;D
It is stunning of Muffin.
ReplyDeleteI do like your Rooster too.
Happy Anniversary
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, the portraits will be treasured for sure.
DeleteAs for the chook...who can say at this stage. Probably not!
I'm busy adding many layers so we will have to see what the end result looks like. Wish me luck! ;D
Muffin looks adorable. . what a great surprise for you. Good start on the rooster. Blessings, Janet Happy Anniversary.
