My Sunday Photo really sums up our current weather.
Wet and soggy, but at times warm(ish)
In fact, perfect conditions for growing mushrooms.
I can't take any credit for growing these beauties shown below because they have just appeared at the base of a tree in my garden.
I have no idea if they are edible or not?
I know next to nothing about fungi, so if anyone knows what this one is called and if it's poisonous I'd be really interested to hear.
I thought I'd include another photo today to show you that we are all prepared for the autumn nights...when you need a little extra warmth.
Especially when you hear that F word for the first time...FROST!
Yep the weather forecaster said that there's a chance we might have Jack Frost come to visit us overnight... and so it starts!
I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo over at Photalife.com

Have a great weekend and thanks for popping over to my place.
You definitely look very prepared for the cold weather! I have no idea what fungi they are in your first photo but I do find it interesting see all the different types appearing at this time of year :-)
ReplyDeleteWell we have to be prepared up here Louise...especially as I hate to be cold! It also keeps hubby busy and he loves preparing the wood and lighting the fire. Boy scout and all of that!
DeleteStill no idea about the mushrooms so we'll leave well alone. Anyway it appears something else is enjoying them!
Some of my favourite autumn scenes. That fireplace is lovely
ReplyDeleteThanks... I'm rather in love with this fire place too, especially when it's lit. Not so much when it needs cleaning though!
DeleteGreat shot of the mushroom - I never have any idea whether they're edible or not. It's definitely starting to feel a bit wintry, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is Tim. We're leaving the mushrooms right where they are for the wildlife to indulge (which appears to be happening)
DeleteWe're still not sure whether they would be safe or not...so we're not taking any chances!
Probably best just to look! #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteIndeed Catherine...and that's what I'm doing! They've grown like small flat dinner plates now. Something is nibbling them so they're not going to waste. Hopefully whom ever it is won't get sick!
DeleteLove the 'shrooms! We're having a bit of cooler weather ourselves....only 85F vs 92F. Fall doesn't officially arrive here until late November. Yes, we made thru Irma's fury. Missing a few shutters on the apartment buildings and some trees down but no major damage for us. We were lucky. Bad part was no power for 3 1/2 days in 90 degree heat. Haven't had a chance to replace all of the food I lost in the frig/freezer...grocery stores still aren't restocked! I feel blessed tho as I'm dry, cool and alive. Have a good Sunday. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to give us an update on how you're getting on. It certainly has been a tough time for everyone involved. Hopefully you'll be able to get back to some form of normality soon. Take care :D
DeleteWeather has warmed up over here since a two weeks ago. It can't decide between summer and autumn
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Adam it's decided here and it's chosen autumn. All the signs are there, so that's goodbye to summer for another year :(
DeleteHi Denise, frost already! Surely that's illegal so early? You've snapped some fine looking fungi there, but I have no idea what they are. I love the way they can seemingly pop up over night.

Don't worry Debbie... thankfully it never arrived here.
DeleteWe still haven't a clue about the fungi so we're leaving well alone. I just love to look at them and certainly wouldn't take a risk by eating any without knowing they're safe.

Great shot. I have tried to photograph mushrooms loads of times but it never quite works. Great mix of colours in that image. #MySundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI've noticed quite a few mushrooms growing in the woods down here. I think they add a certain character to places
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Hmmm what do you reckon can you toast them like marshallows over an open fire?! Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteWren?
Autumn is well and truly here isn't it? I can't stop looking at jumpers. And those mushrooms are so pretty. I always have to stop and take a photo of them!
ReplyDeleteawww, the hearth looks so pretty. I do love you house. So cozy and that garden, and the chooks. and the owners... lol. I need to win money and visit!
ReplyDeleteLOL! The F-word!!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about wild mushrooms. No help here. I hope somebody can tell you. Mushrooms are delicious, but I wouldn't try any without an expert opinion, either. ;)
I'd love a log burner like that in my house. It looks well prepared, so cosy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Something obviously likes chomping on them! :)
ReplyDeletethere are all kinds of mushrooms popping up around here. most of the ones here are really dark brown tho no the colour of yours there
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful image you have here. #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are getting ready for some cold and rainy weather . love your mushroom pictures. Those mushrooms are gorgeous and good enough to eat but I wouldn't if I were you!!
