Autumn has well and truly arrived.
And so did an unexpected guest.
I walked into our garage only to find this little wren.
He had nipped in whilst the garage door was open and had accidentally been shut in.
Also other visitors arrived... these two deer were having a tasty treat munching away in the afternoon sun.
I still have to stand and stare when I see such sights.
I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing nature up so close.

I'd often wondered how the deer would react if they came in contact with the resident fox.
Well, I actually got the answer because I witnessed a confrontation.
The deer charged towards the fox, chasing him off and soon had the field all to himself.
It was like watching our own personal wildlife programme.
Such a privilege.

Have a great day and thanks for adding to my visitors this weekend.
I hope to see you again soon.
I hope the visitors brought suitable gifts!
ReplyDeleteThey didn't have to Tim... it was good enough just to see them.
DeleteWe are full of acorns at the moment and the deer are at their most magnificent in time for the rut.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a rare thing to see an oak tree in this part of Scotland. Back in time they were all felled to build ships!
DeleteThankfully they're making a come back :D
Aww beautiful nature photos! We are constantly hunting for acorns!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. I had quite a few to choose from but decided that I needed to only post a few of each.
DeleteI've noticed that the chestnuts are arriving along with the acorns.
Enjoy your hunting!
Wow, you concentrate on the wildlife, I look at that and think "Is that an unharvested corn field????" If so, very late in the year. Anyway. love the fact the wren flew into your garage. Well done deer for chasing off the fox. #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteIt was an unharvested barley field John, due to so many wet days the farmer couldn't harvest it. Thankfully since I took this photo he's managed it. Our wren population seems to be growing...which is fine by me. I think they're so cute... but feisty!
DeleteHi Neesie, that is one very indignant wren, they are so cute when they are angry. How wonderful to live so close to nature. I may have closed my eyes if I witnessed a confrontation between a deer and a fox though.
ReplyDeletexx
Aren't they just Debbie, but still cute with it!
DeleteHe stayed for quite some time and even explored above in the eves. I just hope he doesn't decide to stay because although I'd love it...there isn't an opening for him to come and go as he wishes. We are in and out of the garage regularly, but that'll stop as soon as the weather turns.
I was happy to see the fox run off before the deer got close. I was wondering what would happen if they had a standoff.
Enjoy your Sunday :D
Such beautiful photos and very interesting to read about the deer's encounter with the fox.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that there's always something interesting happening in nature, just outside of our window. I feel very privileged to have so many wonderful things on my doorstep.
DeleteGorgeous countryside photos, I love the final deer photo so much
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Thanks Darren, I had quite a few to choose from but had to restrict the amount for the post. I also had a little bluetit taking a bath in our bird bath which was so cute. Maybe a future Sunday Photo.
DeleteThanks for hosting. Have a great Sunday :D
Stunning collection of photos Z #mySundayphoto
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I am thrilled to have amazing nature all around me so I like to share :D
DeleteI loved your photos Neesie :D) Have a great week xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that Sue. I had quite a few to choose from, but thought I'd better restrict my post...otherwise it would take up far too much time over the weekend! Have fun this week :D
DeleteI think Wrens are the sweetest wee birds...
ReplyDeleteGreat capture!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I know what you mean Linda... they are certainly up there with my favourites. Don't ask me to choose just one...I couldn't possibly.
DeleteHave fun this week :D
Great to be close to nature! Fab photos #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI know...it's such a privilege to have so many great things on my doorstep (and it appears in my garage too!)
DeleteThanks for your comment... Enjoy your week :D
I don't think I've ever seen an angry wren but they sound so cute. I love watching deer. I used to see herds of them as I drove through Chatsworth...bit nerve wracking sometimes as they'd just charge as their will took them, sometimes inches from my car!
ReplyDeleteThe wren had bashed his beak on the window trying to escape so was a little stunned, but I'm happy to say made a full recovery...after checking up into the eaves at all our storage boxes!
DeleteThe deer regularly come into the fields around our house so we are very privileged to see them so close.
Have a great week
I bet this little fellow was happy to see you! Freedom at last. Your pictures are always so wonderful Denise as well as your wonderful paintings.
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
Oh I'm not so sure Sandy...he gave me quite a look it has to be said. I think he thanked me when I opened the big garage doors to let him out though.
DeleteBless you for your encouraging words too... at times I doubt whether I should carry on. That negative voice can be quite loud at times...but your words have spurted me on, so thank you.
Have a great week :D
It must have been fascinating to watch the deer with the fox. Hope that the wren managed to get out okay :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to report that the wren certainly did get out once I opened the big garage doors Louise. I'm a little worried when the doors are open that he'll return. I need to have a little opening for him, but I think hubby might object!
DeleteIt was brilliant to see the deer and fox especially as it was all bravado. So all happy endings :D
Hope you weather the storm - I was unaware that England experiences much in the way of hurricanes. I always see them travel from east to west.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2017/10/wind-and-water-water-and-wind.html
Well I don't think we do experience many and most just get down-graded to a cyclone or storm by the time they reach our shores. This one was a little different, although we got off very lightly here on the East Coast of Scotland.
DeleteThanks for hosting once again and I wish you a great week ahead :D
Lovely photos, I love your little visitors.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to see him Carol and because he was a little disoriented I had a chance to photograph him. Normally they are so quick and flighty.
DeleteIt seems that there's always something to see... nature never ceases to amaze me :D
at least you found the tiny bird before too long
ReplyDeleteI've seen deer chase off big dogs and they can be pretty violent with the chasing and stomping
I'm not sure how long the wren had been in the garage but he didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave. It could be that the large amount of chicken and bird seed were keeping his interest. It's just a good job we have them in metal tubs!
DeleteThe deer I watched was all show...nothing too dramatic, but the fox wasn't taking any chances.
Have a great week :D
we have deer and fox. I see the deer all the time, but have yet to see the foxes although everyone says they see the fox too. Must have been quite a confrontation! Is that an acorn- it's huge
ReplyDeleteWe've actually had the fox in our garden on numerous occasions Judee...one of which he tried make off with one of our chickens!
DeleteThankfully we rescued 'Annie' just in time and I'm happy to say she's recovered completely!
It is indeed an acorn. I caught sight of it and knew I needed to capture it. I loved the three different stages of it's development.
Such beautiful photographs.
ReplyDeleteYou said "It was like watching our own personal wildlife programme.
Such a privilege." ... I agree
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, sometimes I have to pinch myself. I really am lucky living where I live...all except the weather of course (haha)
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend :D
