Highland Coo... PPF

Hellooooo....
This week I tried drawing with charcoal, which is something that I haven't done since my school days. It was so much fun that I'll definitely have another play soon.
As my regular arty followers know... I'm always trying to loosen my work.
I like everything to be as is and strive for perfection... which can be limiting and always makes for an ultimate let down with finished work.
Sometimes, I'm so tight I'm near to snapping, but working with charcoal was like diving into a warm calm pool totally butt naked!
(cough)
Sorry getting a little carried away there, but it really was a revelation.
I kept laughing as I become increasingly blacker!
Smudges appearing everywhere, but slowly his Highland Coo appeared.
He/She looks quite a character don't you think?

Do you think it's a He or a She.... and what about a name... any ideas?
Have fun everyone and I'll see you again soon

Thank you Eva and Kristin for continuing to host this great inspirational link.

    1. I think Highland cows always look a little like that Denise, like they have missed a much needed hairdresser appointment... but that's what I love. The dishevelled look :D

    1. I find the Highland cows very endearing Nicole. I think the dishevelled look and their hardy nature... being able to stay out and battle against all the Scottish climate has to offer.
      Thanks for liking :D

  11. Cannot see my post. I immediately thought of Caroline - no reason other than it popped into my head.
You should do more of these, it is utterly charming and I can see a gallery with lots of your charcoal drawing in it. I would buy this in a heartbeat. Beautiful, so full of character.

Thanks so much for your kind comment. It's good to know that they would be popular. I'm currently painting a Highland Coo in acrylic. It has a completely different appearance and character.
      Hugs back to you :D

  13. Oh she definitely a she, although coming from Bangkok we can also spice this up a little and suggest she is a Ladyboy cow.... is that a BIG cough I hear from you now Neesie? Lol. Well I think Harriet is a perfect name - hairy Harry for short should cover all options!
I'm so glad you had fun with the charcoal just as I've had with this response.

  14. cute coo :)

charcoal is great for loosening up art styles. I like to cover the whole of the paper with charcoal and then draw on it with an eraser, creates some nice effects :)

    1. I found out what great lines can be produced when rubbing the eraser over the charcoal. I love playing with charcoal, but seriously I should get on with my assignment.
