I've been watching the Australian Open Tennis Championship in Melbourne during this past week and it's set me off thinking about my time spent living in this amazing city...
...so I thought I'd pay tribute by posting a picture for my Sunday Photo.
There's such an eclectic mix of architecture within the city that there's sure to be something for everyone.
Happy Australia Day for 26th January.
As usual I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and thanks for stopping by my place
I love the mix of the old and the new in this shot - it's one of the things I also love about the London skyline.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it could be a photograph of many major cities with it's eclectic mix of the old and new.
DeleteEnjoy your Sunday
Melbourne does look like a beautiful city and I love the mixture of architecture. I have family over there but have never been over to visit them (they have been over to the UK though!) - maybe one day I'll get to visit!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic place Louise,
DeleteIf I were to make a list of all that was available, then it would be quick a length. It's probably best if you manage to go to see for yourself. I swear you will not be disappointed.
That is such a great mix - you are right. I would love to experience Australia one day #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteI have never heard anyone say they were disappointed visiting there Victoria... pop it on your list!
DeleteHappy Australia Day for the 26th, to you!
ReplyDeleteThe city looks gorgeous, reminds me slightly of Barcelona with its eclectic, new and old architecture.
#SundayPhoto
Well I'm not there now Tracey, but thank you anyway.
DeleteI suppose Melbourne is like lots of major cities... with the old and new architecture mixed together.
I haven't been to Barcelona... yet! It's on my list though.
That really is a city with a mix of styles, yet they all look like they belong.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many fascinating buildings within the city of Melbourne. It certainly has something of interest for everyone.
Deletei love this photo and i love melbourne. such a wonderful city; so much food and art and architecture - all the things i love! yep it's lamingtons and snags for australia day:)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Sherry, I think it has everything there,
DeleteMmm... lamingtons, snags on the barbie and perhaps a meringue to finish, with something nice and chilled to wash it down.
Happy Australia Day to you...Cheers... Enjoy!
It looks like a beautiful city, I love the blend of old and new
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
It really is a fantastic place... now I sound like I'm doing a promotional ad for the place, but it really does have something for everyone.
DeleteThanks for the link once again and I hope that you are having a great Sunday.
Wow it looks stunning, such a mixture of old and new!
ReplyDeleteAn amazing eclectic mix Tas... the old and new right along side one another.
DeleteI love the mixture of architecture it's great when city planners keep the heritage but do not stifle the new. I would love to visit and maybe have a ride on that horse drawn coach #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteThey try to keep the heritage as much as possible, but when they have to renew they try to at least keep the facade... the principal front of a building and build behind it.
DeleteI never managed to take a ride in the horse drawn coach whilst I was there (six years) so maybe I need to go back!
Any excuse eh!
That is such a great shot, I love the old mixed in with the new yet it all works together x
ReplyDeleteThere are old churches, modern office blocks, sports stadiums, a river running through it, shopping malls, trams and horse-drawn carriages all mixed in together, to name but a few.
DeleteIt really is a city that has something of interest for everyone!
I do love your pictures Denise - first of all so many are quite artsy and secondly, I get to see places I have never been. I have been to Sydney.
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
I do try to do the artsy thingy Sandy, whilst also trying to capture something a little different to share with my photographs... so I'm happy you've noticed (hehe)
DeleteI've masses of places that you might like to visit and posts I should have written, but never got to.
I've always been going to write a blog post about where we lived, so maybe one day you can pack your bags and come along too!
Maybe you should think about a book!!!!!!!
Deletesandy xx
I love old and new architecture, mixed like this. Such a lovely way to see a city growing x
ReplyDeleteI never thought of it that way Jo,
DeleteA city growing... I like that ;D
Must seem like another lifetime now. A beautiful city. So different from where you are now. Life is just amazing!! :)
ReplyDeleteWell yes I suppose it does Rita,
DeleteIt was a beautiful place and not just the city. I would love to be able to visit it again one day.
I'll have to keep doing the lottery!
Love the mix of architecture, gives a whole sense of story to a city
ReplyDeleteWith the old with the new... there's masses of history captured within the city Leyla.
DeleteWhat an eclectic mix - my exact thoughts when I saw this photo.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is eclectic... with so many interesting architecture, there's something to captivate everyone for one reason or another.
DeleteLovely to have you in town (I wish!) I can't stop long because as you know we've tennis to watch! Wish you were here :)
ReplyDeleteWren x
Aww I wish I was there too Wren, although I have sort of been there... because I've been watching the tennis too. I just wish I could manage to get up at 3.00am to see some of the matches, but that's just too much to ask! I'll have to leave you to cheer on for me. Enjoy!
DeleteTis a grand place and wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best in each day. ~ ^_^
Thank you Carol, I miss it, but who knows I may revisit one day ;D
