I was feeling a little smug with myself last weekend because I actually managed to visit all of the linked artists joining in with Paint Party Friday.
It's something that I've tried to do each week, but then life happens and I'm afraid I fail abysmally.
If you linked up after my visits, then I'm sorry I missed you... maybe I'll catch up with you this week.
So as my last post mentioned the rain finally spotted and we saw not only the sky, but some sun too.
The temperature has dropped and there is talk of possible snow... oh yes and as the weather presenters have mentioned (numerous times)... "we'll have minus double digits this weekend"!
This must be the latest buzz word in the meteorologists office, or from the office memo, because all the news presenters are using this new turn of phrase. We would normally be given the actual temperature ie -3 or -32 (ha) or whatever, but obviously we've moved into a new phase and this is the up to the minute phrase.
Anyway... here's my desk this week (or kitchen table actually)
I decided to go back and revisit a previous design.
An autumn tree...
Here it is in more detail from my old journal.
But I've decided to draw this new one as an A3 design.
I used a uni-ball eye which is one of my favourites.
I do find these kind of drawings incredibly relaxing.
I can leave it at any time and also pop back at random times to carry on, which is perfect for me just now.
Before I go I must mention this gorgeous T2 Tiny Tin of Tea that arrived in the post recently.
Happy post... don't you just love it when surprises arrive.
(I've had quite a few lately... so feel very lucky and I smile for the rest of the day)
I decided that today was the day that I would dive in (not literally) and try it out.
I must say that I've been intrigued since it's arrival, but you can't rush these things.
Patience is a virtue and all that.
I have to say I loved the tin as soon as I saw it, even before it was opened to reveal the delight within.
A blossom opens up along with the green tea.
It's beyond fascinating to watch... I did video it, but it was a slow process and my available space is very tight, so I decided just to show you the still photo.
How cool is that?
And that's before you even taste the peachy tea!
Gorgeous
Well, now that I have my cuppa it's time to start visiting all of Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday blog.
xx
Love your tree. The tea lower looks very exotic, but I must confess, I prefer my coffee...HAPPY PPF; HUGS, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks Valerie, I'm really enjoying drawing it. I'll make sure to show it when I finish it.
DeleteThe tea flower was fascinating to watch opening up. I have to confess I haven't drank any coffee since I was pregnant with my children. I used to drink black coffee all the time before that, but then I went straight off it... never to return.
Happy PPF to you
What a beautiful drawing!! I find I don't quite have the patience to draw like that for a long time. I admire anyone who does. :) The view from your table is wonderful and I love that unfolding flower tea. Have a great week! And not too much snow... Stay warm! xo Silke
ReplyDeleteWell I admire you and wish I could paint just like you... with all of those amazing, merging, vibrant, colours Silke,
DeleteI love the view from every window in this house... I'm very lucky.
As to the unfolding flower tea, it was fascinating to watch never mind drink!
I wouldn't mind just a little snow, especially if it dissolved after a day. To stay just long enough for me to take some photo's.
I'll certainly be keeping warm and I wish you a great week too.
Happy PPF to you
a beautiful tree , the addition of color is super and the tea is amazing, I've heard of this but never found it in the shops,
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie, I know that you've seen this tree before but I've gone larger this time. The tea was very entertaining and delightful.
DeleteWe only have a T2 shop in London, although I believe there might be more to come throughout the country. I used to visit one in Melbourne.
In fact I still have all of the photo's that I took because I was going to write a blog post about it. Unfortunately, I never got to write it. Maybe one way?
What a wonder-tea! Never seen before... and the tree is soulful.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Thank you Mascha, I'm really enjoying drawing it.
DeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend too
Lu-urve that tree very muchly, and your tea is so very pretty! Never heard 'pretty' and 'tea' in the same sentence before, but it fits this one quite perfectly. I have a T2 tin of Buddahs Tears that unfurl into long green leaves that float like seaweed on a still ocean, and it smells divine and tastes just as good :D
ReplyDeleteWe had snow that froze and then melted in showers today, but is now freezing again. I really don't want 'minus double digits' (what a silly idiom!), -5 is quite cold enough - but, we don't get to choose of course. Enjoy your weekend, whatever you're doing, and stay toasty warm xoxo
You're Buddahs Tears tea sounds very calming... just the thing when we're trying to not let the weather get to us!
DeleteWe have a freezing wind blowing but thankfully only seen one snow flurry today. I wouldn't mind one day of snow so that would give us a good photo opportunity... but then it needs to disappear (please)
Ha... I had to laugh because maybe the weather people have read my blog post because although there's reports of -10 in the highlands they didn't use that term again!
I'll enjoy the weekend no matter what the weather does and I hope you stay cosy and warm too. Enjoy!
your trees are stunning! My friend has a glass teapot and once in awhile she makes us a pot using one of those type of blooming buds-really fun to watch-and a good drink too. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteA glass teapot is something that I've been going to buy for quite some time. It would have been good to have used one for these flowering blossom teas.
DeleteHappy PPF to you
Oh my word. I love your tree!!! And the view you have is beyond gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn, it's one of my favourites too.
DeleteBut then I adore tree in any form. Happy PPF to you
Goodness Gracious! I adore your tree--and your view must be so inspiring. Your tree fills my eyes--the detail is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteHehe... Good Gracious Beth I'm so thrilled to hear that.
DeleteI have to agree I do adore that view and I know I'm extremely lucky to be able to appreciate it daily.
Have a wonderful weekend.
I love trees and this is fabulous work, so beautiful and full of soul! I also love green tea and this is very beautiful and must taste so good!
ReplyDeleteI adore trees too Kat, so I've enjoyed drawing this design.
DeleteThe tea was great and fascinating to watch opening up.
Although I am a serious tea drinker... I've never seen this before.
What a beautiful tree painting and such a lovely place to create! The tea also sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa, I love trees and am always happy to be drawing, photographing or just being amongst them.
DeleteWe're very lucky to have some huge trees in our garden and a woods nearby.
The tea was fascination to watch and lovely to drink.
lovely work Neesie, and that T2 tea looks so interesting, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine,
DeleteWe haven't got a T2 here in Aberdeen so it was a real treat to have some arrive. It's been quite a while since I was able to visit them in Melbourne.
It was my pleasure to share and I'll be visiting as soon as I've answered my comments. See you soon
I am in love with that tree one of my favourites...amazing my friend...and I bet I know where that tea came from... love the blossom... very nice!! That second tree is like a puzzle you come back to add the pieces!! Stunning work ....love the scenery from your table too....crispy weather is the best!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Aww bless you Giggles, I have to admit it is one of my favourite designs. I've just finished it this afternoon... so now I have to come up with another! Hmm... what to do?
DeleteYou are possibly right over the origin of the tea. Let's just say it travels well!
I love the views from all the windows in this house. I never stop appreciating them... never taking them for granted. I always wanted a house in the country from the age of about 8 years old. I finally have it now.
This brighter, crispy weather is brilliant. I don't mind it being so cold as long as it's brighter!
Hugs back to you and I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend.
What a great idea to see the blossom unfurling although it looks as if it was good it stopped when it did... visions of a Jack and the beanstalk type moment!! I love your zentangled tree, both tree and tea remind me of a gorgeous mermaid... the outloook from your kitchen looks brighter this week despite your double digits! Enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteWren x
I have to admit that I did wonder when it would stop when it started to unfurl. I really didn't expect it to go quite as much as it did.
DeleteI also have to fess up that I'm not getting the gorgeous mermaid connection? You'll have to enlighten me a little more.
Glad to say they appear to have dropped the negative double digits... but we are currently at -4 degress!
I prefer this kind of frosticled weather because at least we see the sky and sun.
Enjoy the tennis. I'll be watching from this end.
Love the tree! So much detail. Can't imagine I'd have the patience for it. :)
ReplyDeleteI find it actually relaxing Natacha May. I just nip in as and when I have time for as long as I can. It works for me. In fact I feel great just knowing that it's sitting there waiting for me.
DeleteThe trouble is that I have finished it this afternoon, so will have to come up with another design soon.
love your zentangle tree and love the space your're working in. like being outside........ wonderful natural light.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great space Jo, especially after so many dark, grey days... it's wonderful to see both the sky and the sun on occasions.
DeleteSuch a lovely view! That would be so inspiring to me. Your tree pic is a beauty. And anything TEA is right up my alley. xo
ReplyDeleteIt's a view that is ever changing and I never tire of looking at it Dea. I know I'm very lucky to have it.
DeleteI'm glad you like my design... which I actually finished this afternoon. Now to decide what's next?
Oh my goodness ... such beautiful light and what a vista you have to rest your eyes upon. Your tree is magnificent - so much detail. Love green tea -- this particular one looks very exotic and oh so much fun. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteIt is Donna but sometimes I find I'm gazing out there instead of getting on with things. Thanks for your lovely words and I'm happy to hear you like the tree design. I finished it this afternoon so will have to come up with a new design tomorrow.
DeleteHappy New Year Nessie! Your tree is so beautifully intricate. It looks like an amazing process to draw and then fill in the colors. I also am delighted to see the unique tea!
ReplyDelete~~ Irene
I'm in my comfort zone drawing these kinds of designs Irene,
DeleteI just wish I could move on, but it seems I've still got to get them out of my system!
Your tree is absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLovely blooming tea you have there.
Thank you for sharing your nice view too.
oxo
Hehe... thanks Patty, it was my pleasure to share
DeleteI'm trying to create a new design at the moment, but I'm not getting very far.
Have a great week
The tree is so creative. Tea looks delicious. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet, I'm currently trying to create a new design having finished the tree, but I think I might be in need of another cuppa for inspiration.
DeleteBlessings to you too
What a wonderful place to dine and do your wonderful art work. Your tree is smashing to say the least -- You do have a fantastic eye and talent for design.
ReplyDeleteInteresting tea - It looks so pretty I would be tempted to keep it in a jar!
Sandy xx
I tend to work on this table for drawing instead of in the art studio Sandy. There's not too much mess and I don't feel so out of things... plus there's that view to help inspire. Although, the view from my art room is pretty good too.
DeleteThank you once again for your kind words and encouragement.
I really appreciate them.
Have a great week.
Love your zentangle
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare, I keep thinking it's time I moved on from these designs, but obviously my creative mind hasn't done with them yet!
DeleteSuch a wonderful ink drawing and your desk is a dream
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words Fran,
DeleteI do like to create these ink drawings, but feel that I'd like to try something new soon.
the trees look great :) and that tin design is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, I enjoyed drawing the tree. It's finished now so it's time to come up with a new design.
DeleteI agree that the tin is gorgeous.
I just love your cosy corner and view. How incredibly inspiring! And who can't resist a lovely cup of tea along with sketching! :)
