We are surrounded by fields of gold at the moment and I just can't get Sting's song out of my head.
But my favourite version is by Eva Cassidy.

Thanks for visiting my place and I hope to see you again soon.
Have a wonderful weekend
I the love the depth of field on this and the focus on that one ripe strand is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI won't tell you want I had to do to capture this image...but it was worth it.
DeleteGreat shot - and a great song too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tim, the song has been in my head since Saturday so I'm hoping I won't get sick of it. I need to re-programme myself to another tune...just in case :D
DeleteGreat minds, I love that you've focused on the detail
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Indeed Darren, I was pleased with the final shot.
DeleteThanks for provided the link up party once again :D
Interesting...I've just returned from Scotland and most of the wheat had been harvested! I do love harvest time. An ear of wheat like this brings back memories of my childhood. #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteWe've been very wet over on this side of the coast John...so it's still here waiting to dry out. I actually saw the chap walking the fields taking the moisture readings. We had rain again this morning, so I don't think it'll be harvest for a few days.
DeleteLovely photo. I'm going to have that song in my head all day now :-) #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteOops I'm sorry but I've actually had the song on repeat in my head since Saturday! I need to shuffle and find a new one :D
DeleteLoved this shot when I spotted it on IG earlier #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Mary. I had taken the whole field on a previous shot on IG, but thought I'd focus in on a single strand. I'm glad I did :D
DeleteI love the definition one that one head of corn
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be a little different, besides I'd already taken a shot of the whole field for my IG earlier. I'm glad that you like it Catherine :D
DeleteSuch a stunning photo! #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It just sums up the season.
DeleteGreat shot, the fields must be stunning
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Carol...we are currently surrounded by them. It's perfect when the gentle breeze blows and they sway...or better still with the sun shining on them. This is the first time we've had barley/wheat in these fields for a long time. It's good to see :D
DeleteLove the pic. Does that mean summer is over? Did you have a summer even? Enjoy the new week. Hugs
ReplyDeleteNO and NO Nan! We haven't had anything like a summer so I'm hopefully it will finally get it's act together and it'll be a glorious September :D
DeleteI always get that song stuck in my head whenever I see fields like this!
ReplyDeleteMe too...and it's been there since Saturday when I took the photos. I'd also taken shots of the whole field earlier for my IG and the song was with me for days then too.
DeletePerfect photo! I had never heard her version of the song. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. :)
I love Sting's version but think Eva Cassidy wins with this version. I think she was so talented and taken from us all too soon. Have a great week too :D
Deletegorgeous, no wonder you have Sting's song stuck in your brain! I love that song. We're 4 years friends today, yep, best day ever! ;o)
ReplyDeleteYes Jenn, it's been stuck there since Saturday. Before that I took a photo of the whole field for my IG and it was stuck for a few days then too. Good job I like it, although I'm trying to shuffle now to see what I can come up with next.
DeleteYep four days for Facebook but I think it's been longer...in a good way of course. Hugs to you my friend :D
That is a gorgeous shot - love the focus on the single piece of wheat. The Eva Cassidy version is my favourite too :-)
ReplyDeleteMine too Louise. Thanks for your lovely comment. I was pleased with the photo :D
DeleteWhat a fab shot, you have managed to get that one ear of wheat perfectly in focus #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteThanks Sally, I took the whole field for my Instagram account earlier in the week, but then thought I'd highlight one single strand. I was pleased with the result.
DeleteI prefer her version too :) very sad she really didnt have any recognition until after she died
ReplyDeleteIt is terribly sad that she had to leave so early. I've read that she really wasn't happy performing in front of crowds. Incredibly talented.
DeleteHave a great week and lets hope the sun finds us!
Great shot. I adore Celtic Woman's version of that beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteI've just listened to it once more to remind myself. It is beautiful but I still love Eva's version. I need to shuffle my music because I've been stuck on that song for about a week now...and it's so annoying to me and everyone around me!
DeleteThe natural world sure does hold beauty. We were also keen to get snaps of the fields on our walks.#MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteI think with each passing year I'm becoming more appreciative to nature and what's around me. Especially having lived in three continents.
DeleteThat is just a lovely photograph.
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting Eva Cassidy's great version up ...
All the best Jan
My pleasure...I love this version of the song.
DeleteBeautiful photo. I love Eva Cassidy's version best too :) #mysundayphoto
