  1. I want to say it's a plant but surely those pencil like top bits are flowers, or are they? So pretty!

    1. I thought exactly the same thing Fiona, I've been busy painting and doing art all weekend and I was beginning to think I'd over done it by seeing pencils! It's good to know it's not just me :D

    1. Thanks Tim, I've been amazed by some photo close-ups, of just how intricate nature can be. That's the beauty of taking photos, I suppose... it really makes you look more closely at things.
      Have a great Sunday

    1. Yes it will burst into flower like a firework and even then it will still be attractive when it goes to seed. I've collected quite a few to hopefully replant for next year.

    1. It is rather spikey...a little like a thistle only much larger and rounder. It's great when it opens into full flower but also stunning when it's goes to seed.
      Thanks for hosting once again.

  12. this is so pretty, I wonder how difficult it would be to paint? I think one would need to use a lightbox to get accuracy of the points first!

    1. Okay I'm willing to let you go ahead and paint it...let me know how difficult it is before I commit to anything.
I think it's way above my ability!
It is pretty though isn't it and do the spikes remind you of pencils too?
