Happy Friday...PPF

I'm on day two of trying to talk to our internet service provider... so my nerves are a little raw at the moment. We are still at the preliminary stages on day two of negotiations and as yet have no solutions on the horizon.
Oh my...if only I could talk to a person to sort out the problem!
Anyway, this is the main reason why I haven't anything to post for the PPF link this week.
I think I need to do some drawing at least, to keep my sanity so I've just started to draft a few cacti leaves from my previous post at the Botanical Gardens.
(Press here if you'd like to see that particular post)
I've just have a funny thought.
It seems quite appropriate that I should draw something spiky and prickly today... as it's my current mood. (hehe)
The weather hasn't helped either over the last two days.
We've had thunderstorms and hours and hours of rain with temperatures that are a stark reminder of November/February.
Apologies... I try to always be positive in my posts, but as many of you know...technology is brilliant when it's working...but oh my what a trial when it's not.
So let's lighten up and think nice thoughts.
Here's a summery oil pastel drawing that I did sometime ago, but it's full of colour and makes me feel a little better just looking at it.
Apparently, butterflies as well as bee's need our help.
I'm planting as many flowers in my garden as I can...hopefully that will help.
I'm linking into the Paint Party Friday as usual.
Please pop along if you'd like to see lots more art from all over the globe.
I apologise if I haven't visited you yet, but I will try to during the next week.
Happy Friday Everyone
😊

  1. That is so colorful. Yes, we do need to all we can to help our bees and butterflies out. They are disappearing.

    1. Well we are on to day three so hopefully we'll be able to resolve it, but I have a feeling this is going to cost us.
Anyway...it's the weekend and I've decided to have some time in my studio. That's sure to make me smile Valerie :D

  3. I haven't seen many butterflies or bees this summer either. They really do seem to be disappearing. I love the colors you used, and all of that detail! Great work!

    1. I have to confess that this isn't a new piece of work Julie, but when I was sorting out some work and came across it...the pop of colour was just what I needed and thought others might too :D

  4. Your butterfly is stunning and I love your little prickly body ... don't know how you do that with pastells, but it is awesome. I am with you on the weather. We have had so much rain that everything is flooding and more rain in the offing ... it isn't cool, it is muggy, ugh. But, we always seem to survive whatever weather wants to throw at us so I'm with you ... Look on the bright side :)

    1. Yes we survive no matter what the weather throws at us and most of the time I manage not to let it get to me...but I suppose three days of rain and trying to talk over technical problems with a machine has taken me to the edge!
I'm being more positive today and am going to spend some time drawing which is bound to bring a smile to my face :D
      Have a great weekend too

  5. gorgeous butterfly!! Between the internet and weather it's no wonder you feel the way you do...
Hope it all gets much better real soon. Yes, internet is wonderful until it doesn't work and you can't get hold of anyone to help repair it. It's been very hot and muggy here with very little rain despite storm threats daily. But I'm not complaining:)
    Happy PPF!

    1. I usually don't let things get to me, but I suppose I'm human and after three days of troubleshooting and rain it got to me. I apologise Linda. If only we could have spoken to a person on the telephone instead of an app that takes 30 mins for the other end to reply after each question soon gets tedious!
We're dry today but still no sun...I'm just ignoring the weather and will have a session of fun in the studio. That's sure to make me smile :D Enjoy your weekend too...Happy PPF

    1. Trying our best here Sarah and even thinking about putting a cut flower border next to the veggie plot for next spring. That way we'll be helping the bees and butterflies whilst hopefully they are helping us pollinate our produce. Happy PPF to you too :D

    1. Our problem is that the speed is too low Sandee, but it's so much better than when we were living in Australia. We're just looking into options for fibre and what would suit our needs most.
I've started painting the botanical drawing and as it's raining yet again I think I might just give in with the thought of any outdoor pursuits and paint!

  8. your butterfly looks awesome no matter when you did it. I can't wait to see all the succulents painted up. All that green would be giving me stress. I find green leaves are my most challenging, even when I remember Tracey's underpainting with yellow. STILL hard. Good luck my friend. I'll email soon!

    1. I'm happy to report that I've started to under paint the succulents Jenn. As it's raining here yet again, I think I might carry on with it today. I hadn't thought about all the greens and after reading your comment am a little nervous now.
I got your email and I shall reply as soon as poss...in the meantime have fun. Enjoy your day :D

  9. I have noticed far less of them around, most experts blame grass killers like Roundup for the decline.

That is very beautiful art by the way

    1. Thanks Adam, I hadn't used oil pastels before trying this one out. I'm not sure I've used them as I should...but I'm happy with the results.
We are always hearing about the bees plight but this year is the first time I've heard that butterflies are in decline too. I have to admit I haven't seen many so far, but we've had a very wet summer so far. Hopefully that will change soon.

    1. Thanks Jennifer, as I've mentioned previously I haven't used oil pastels before this piece and have probably broken the rules (if there are in fact any rules) but I'm happy with the results.
I've heard lots about the plight of our bees but this year is the first time I've heard about the decline of the butterflies. It's been so wet here this summer that that's probably not surprising really. Hopefully we'll have an Indian Summer (funny typing that because I'm sure I said exactly the same thing last year!)

    2. dont think there are any rules really when it comes to oil pastel lol I like using them but tend to mix them with some kind of solvent so they act more like paint

  11. Sorry about your service provider!! We have two choices so that helps a bit. However when it goes out, nothing we can do about it....except paint, or do old timey things...haha!! Wonderful painting! Hope you get some summer back!

    1. Our problem has been the very low speed of our internet Giggles, I suppose it's one of the joys of living in the country.
I'm definitely going to do old timey things today as yet again the weather is wet and misty! I'm now putting in a request for an Indian Summer, but with our internet being so slow it might not reach the right destination before it's too late. Ho hum

    1. Tell me about it Nicole, it took three days and now I've given up whilst we make our decision of what to do next. It's just trying to get faster speed, but I suppose that's one of the joys of living in the country.
Thanks for your lovely comment about my butterfly...it made me smile :D

    1. Yes Indira, I must apologise for my little tizzy fit. We haven't sorted anything, but I decided three days of chasing was enough and sapping all my positive energy, so we are going to regroup and try again in a few weeks.
Thanks for your visit and I hope you have a great week :D
