My Sunday Photo...National Trust Critters

We have been members of the National Trust of Scotland since we arrived back from our overseas travels, and I must say that every time we have visited a historical property, garden or castle, we have always had a fantastic day.
One of our latest visits was to Haddo House gardens and grounds, which enabled us to get a close look at this cute red squirrel and his antics at the feeding station.
There have hides set up in order for visitors to watch them feed.
Another day was spent at Fyvie Castle and as we were leaving after a brilliant day, we saw these swans with their eight cygnets on the lake.
A perfect sighting to finish off the day.
(If you'd like to see some photographs from a previous trip to Fyvie, then click here)
Whilst admiring the swans, I suddenly became aware of this mallard duck preening himself just at the waters edge...right next to me.
He was oblivious to me taking photos... possibly getting ready to meet Mrs Mallard?
I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo as usual.
Thanks Darren for hosting once again.
Please feel free to pop across to see lots more photographs by clicking here

Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you again soon.
Enjoy your Sunday

  4. I thought that red squirrel was a statue, you capture him so well. One of the highlights of visiting Scotland as a child was seeing red squirrels in my Aunt and Uncles's forest

    1. I know that the red squirrels are in our woods and my son has actually seen them there, but I never have...hopefully they won't come to our garden and pinch all the goodies in our bird feeders. I'd much prefer to go and see them. They are so cute.
I was pleased with this shot...and as you can imagine I have many more of them!

    1. A few have thought that he wasn't real already this morning, but although I like a joke I couldn't do that. Nope he's real and very much alive...looking at all the blurred action shots that I missed him. I've got quite a few of his backside!

    1. We are very lucky up here John, the red squirrel population seems to be increasing. This particular NTS property has a feeding station within their woods, which is set up with a hide, in order to view the squirrels without disturbing them. It really is fantastic.
If you visit the NTS properties up here, then you are in for a treat! I'm sure you would love the castles... they are so packed with history and treasures.
I just hope the weather behaves whilst you're up here!

    1. He certainly was caught in the act Darren...in fact he put on quite a show for us, especially when he went across the hire wire to reach a feeder in the centre of the rope swing! Great fun!

    1. They are so cute just to get us from 'hello' Sandy,
The feeding station was a great idea with lots of alternative food and feeders. It really was quite entertaining watching them...but also good to know that they were wild and free to come and go as they pleased.
I'm so happy that you enjoy seeing my photo's because it just wouldn't work if I was here all alone. When I take a photo I'm invariably thinking about my follow bloggers!

    1. I'm thrilled that the 'reds' are making a come back Jennifer. I just don't want them coming on my personal bird feeders in our garden...even though they are cute and fun to watch. I go through enough food as it is!

    1. They were just little fluff balls Lisa, very cute. It's a pity that I took so long to get set up to capture their image as they were nearer the bank when I first saw them.
