My Sunday Photo...Baby Robin

Sometimes when you least expect it... up pops a wonderful surprise.
Take yesterday for instance, whilst being a contortionist crouching under our curly hazel tree to pull up weeds, a little baby robin hopped right in front of me.
I quickly went inside to get my camera thinking that it was probably going to be a waste of time.
The robin would have moved on, but he was still there when I returned.
He wasn't in the least bit bothered by me being so close to him.
He was obviously a very switched on robin as he watched whilst I pulled and dug he waited for some tasty treats to appear.
He wasn't in the least bit timid...I'd go so far as to say he enjoyed watching me working.
Obviously, he's not street wise yet, with being so young and as you can see from his plumage, he hasn't got all of his red waistcoat feathers yet.
He's still a little fluffy and dishevelled.
I also don't think he's found his voice yet either....but we'll be in for a treat when he does.
As you can see he was watching me closely.
Gorgeous isn't he?
With him being this friendly I may well manage to feed him some treats from my hand.
Now that would be something to share.

My Sunday Photo... Yoga In The Park

Oh how I would love to say that this photo was taken of me doing a little yoga in the park...
but alas it isn't me... but it's my daughter!
Pretty good isn't she?
I love this photo for so many reasons... yes the light, composition and subject are all good,
but it's the fact that when I first saw it I thought 'Oh she looks like my daughter' not realising initially that it was my daughter.
I know she's been enjoying taking up yoga, but I hadn't a clue that she had become so good.
Now she's encouraging me to have a go... so if I become this good... you never know I might well post a photo of me one day! (ha)
As it's Sunday, I'm linking up with Photoalife once more and Wordless (on Tuesday at image-in-ing)

Sunset Sunday Photo

Another busy enjoyable weekend with having our daughter come to stay... and we're only half way through!
Last night we were treated to a wonderful sunset.
It came as a surprise really after a day of rain.
It was like drawing back the curtains... suddenly the sun shone through.
I've taken the same shot over a short period of time... to just highlight what a difference a few minutes can make.
You can see the rain drops still hanging from the cow parsley like bright jewels.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting my place.

My Sunday Photo... Summer's arrived.

Today felt like the first day of summer.
Herons flying overhead towards the river, the swallows have returned and best of all, there's new life in some of our bird boxes, all accompanied by the sound of buzzing from busy bees going about their business.
We enjoyed warm sunshine, appreciated the perfumed blooms and even enjoyed sitting outdoors eating an ice-cream.
Sometimes there's even a reward at the end of the day of a beautiful sunset.

Now it's time to link up 'My Sunday Photo' with Photoalife once again.
Thanks for popping into my place. I hope you have a great Sunday.

My Sunday Photo... Winter Sky

It seems that since we have started a new trend recently of naming storms that come to our shores, they have taken on a new force. It's like with their new identity they are more powerful.
Take for instance the latest one that arrived in the early hours of yesterday....Gertrude.
She was obviously very full of herself and vented full anger on us.
Maybe she was menopausal or had had some terrible misfortune because oh boy was she angry!
For the first time I could actually feel the house tremble whilst she whipped herself up into a frenzy. We have large trees on our property and I had some very vivid thoughts about them coming to call, quite literally, especially with having had so much rain recently... I mean that came weaken roots and softening the ground surely?
Frank ... the storm before Gertrude brought floods like Aberdeenshire has never seen before.
So maybe we should stop this new trend and revert back to the old ways.
Let's concentrate on saying farewell to winter and welcome spring.
I captured this winter sky whilst out walking one crisp cold morning last week.

The Barn Owl

It's not every day (or night) that you get to see the majestic Barn Owl fly across your path.
But that's exactly what happened to my son on his way home from work on Thursday evening.
It must have been quite a sight because he has been talking about it ever since.
I've heard owl calls from our garden, but not been privileged to see one yet.
So now I feel we need to put up an owl box.
We already have numerous bird boxes positioned around the garden for the smaller visitors, but maybe we need to up our game now that we know a barn owl is close by.
My son obviously didn't manage to get a photo mainly because he was driving at the time, but also it was such a surprise to have the owl fly across his path.
But I did have this photo below from our visit to Gardening Scotland during the summer, just in case you've never seen a Barn Owl before (I know but just in case)
She was a rescue owl that unfortunately I can't remember her name... but I did manage (with permission) to give her plumage a gentle stroke.
She was magnificent.

My Sunday Photo... Splash an Dash!

Yes the snow has arrived and this was Muffin's first meeting.
She ran out for her usual last minute night-time call, but came to a sudden stop when her paws touched the ground.
The snow wasn't too deep but it still came as a shock!
We've now discovered the splash an dash technique.
Apologies for the quality of this photo.
If there's a better opportunity to take another tomorrow morning then I'll post one.
That is unless the snow becomes too deep and there's a chance we'd lose her!
Have a great Sunday everyone.
(The internet is playing up too but I hope it'll be okay in the morning to add link to Darren's Sunday Photo link)
