Have you experienced Black Friday up close and personal today?
I'm happy to say I haven't been near any of the shops all day... they can get on with it as far as I'm concerned.
Instead, I've been a busy bee, secret squirrel, Santa's little helper or whatever you'd like to call it... by driving around my local area leaving artwork for people to hopefully pick up and enjoy... for FREE.
It's all part of Scott Wong's idea to spread random acts of kindness to be enjoyed, instead of fighting and stampeding each other to purchase an electrical item or whatever, that we probably don't even need!
I started early this morning before the rain came and drove around my local area.
I left a piece in a park and one near a cafe (which to my delight disappeared within minutes of me walking no more than twenty paces away) I then went to a favourite walk of mine and left a piece on a gate and the final piece in a school playground.
I was beside myself with delight when I returned home to find that the school had left a message on twitter to thank me!
It supposed to be my act of kindness, but I have to admit I've had so much fun and delight from taking part in this project I'll probably do it again next year.
(Click here if you'd like to see the artwork I dropped)
With all of the above taking up my time this week... choosing, wrapping, tagging and distributing the artwork, I've not had much time to start a new painting.
I happy to say that I do have a little something tinkering away in the dark recesses of my mind, which I hope to bring into the light and start drawing soon.
So I thought I'd revisit and have another play with the Koi Carp watercolour I started a few weeks ago. I've decided to use this piece to play and experiement with.
This afternoon I worked on the water once again, but I've got such a long way to go with this... any helpful tips would be gratefully accepted.
I hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.
Keep looking for those random pieces of art out there... it's a global project and you just might get lucky!
xoxo
I like your acts of kindness art campaign.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so much fun Terra, far more than I ever imagined it would be.
DeleteEspecially when I found out that the children had found one of the pieces.
Happy PPF to you
What wonderful koi fish! I love that you're leaving art for people, it's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa
DeleteIt's been great fun.
I've read so many great things on Facebook today about the project. It warms your heart that there are so many acts of kindness out there.
what a kind way to brighten someone's day-and to spread your art around! Your koi are looking super!
ReplyDeleteThere's such a long way to go with the koi, but I'll just have fun as and when.
DeleteAs for the flooding of the streets with art project... it's been so much fun and even better to read on Facebook about all the great responses from people who have found the art. I'll certainly be joining in again next year.
I adore fish. Your Koi painting is wonderful--I can hardly wait to see it done. :D
ReplyDeleteIt might take me some time Beth but I will certainly post it when it's done.
DeleteI've got other designs waiting in the wings which I'm keen to start.
I love the movement in this painting. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Faye, I'm not too sure about this one, so I'm using it as a practice piece.
DeleteSweet to share art with them who like it.
ReplyDeleteYour fishes are great.
Have a happy weekend xx
Thanks Sirkkis, I was thrilled to hear that the children from the school took the bookmarks in. That's just what I wanted.
DeleteHave a happy weekend too ;D
You are so funny - me give you any helpful hints - Bwa ha ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
Hehehe... you make me giggle too Sandy,
DeleteI'm not too sure about this one, but we'll see where it goes. It could be straight into the bin!
I just love that you have done this with your art work Neesie and especially the response from the school. I'm sure they will be talking about your random act of kindness in the playground and the staffroom for weeks to come. The world needs more of this.... although you've done your bit, so take the rest of the year off for good behaviour!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday
Wren x
You have no idea what a buzz it gave me... sneaking around and trying to discreetly drop artwork here and there. It was so much fun. I think I'll definitely participate again next year. I've been looking into the Facebook page and it's fantastic to see people posting happy faces with their finds!
DeleteSuch an easy thing to do but so worthwhile.
I feel I could do with the rest of the year off Wren, but unfortunately that won't be happening. If I did then Christmas wouldn't happen around here!
How sweet that you even got a thank you! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the koi. Lordy! I don't know enough to give suggestions. I love them so far. :)
I was thrilled to hear back from the school Rita,
DeleteI'm still not sure about the Koi, but will keep playing with it whenever I get a chance.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Love the acts of kindness project much better than black friday... Not my thing never would have been. We just started having here in Canada the last few years! Not at crazy as it is south of us! Wonderful Koi and can't wait to hear what you are conjuring up!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
We don't tend to get so 'enthusiastic' here with Black Friday thankfully... but I got so much more pleasure from leaving little pieces of art to surprise people.
DeleteI still haven't progressed far with either the Koi or the new project.
I've house guests at the moment so it's flat out in Christmas mode... art has to wait unfortunately.
Have a wonderful weekend... hugs to you too
Thank you for sharing your RAK Black Friday edition. I would love to see a PPF edition. The koi watercolor is very good. Amused that you think you need some help. You are very talented.
ReplyDeleteI think a PPF edition of RAK would be great Diane, I think you might have an idea there ;D
DeleteI'll keep playing with the Koi painting as and when I can get time. At the moment my artwork is taking a back seat because I have house guests.
Have a great weekend with whatever is on the plan. Enjoy!
Really wonderful acts of kindness. I too love the movement of the fish. Have a nice Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole,
DeleteI've enjoyed the RAK project and will probably be joining in next year.
As for the fish... I'm having to leave them. Art is having to take a back seat whilst I have house guests.
Enjoy your weekend and I send my apologies for such a late response.
What a great idea. I have heard of dropping off art at random sites, but it was not organized and I actually was afraid of getting charged with littering. I love the idea of spreading our art around and the pieces you gave are wonderful. How did you protect them from the weather? Was the event advertised? I will see if there is a group in our area that does the same thing. i would love to participate! Have a great week.
