My Sunday Photo... Flummoxed Flo and the Finale

It's offical...we've waved goodbye to autumn and winter has arrived.
Well, it certainly did this past week with the arrival of our first snow flurry of the year.
As many of your know I've been away and so haven't really caught up with everything yet... but I hope to soon. I've got lots I'd like to share.

Today 'My Sunday Photo' is a finale tribute to autumn.
I have to admit I'm not an expert when it comes to wild mushrooms.
I'm far too timid to venture into tasting them, but feel I'm probably missing out on amazing foraging and possible culinary delights.
Maybe one day?
I took these photos whilst staying at my sister's house.
These little beauties appeared on her patio.
It seems appropriate really as she is mushroom mad!
She has many dotted about her house too... the beautiful wooden carved ornamental kind.
She even has some that her talented son handmade for her.
His latest project that he's currently on is making pens out of wood!
I'll have to write a post about his work sometime because they are beautiful pens.
But for now if you missed the snow pictures from my Instagram this week, (there's a link in my sidebar) I'll add this one.
Flo looking completely flummoxed by all that white stuff.
The other three girls are tucked in behind her.
They did eventually emerge once their breakfast caught their attention, but it took a lot longer than normal. Thankfully the snow has disappeared and the temperature has risen.
It was nice to see, but I don't like it to hang around for too long.
It can come back for Christmas Day of course... but then that's it thank you very much!

If you'd like to link up with Photalife.com where you can find lots more great My Sunday photographs.
Have fun and don't get too stressed working up to the Christmas holidays.
Happy Sunday everyone and thanks for popping by my place.

  1. I really love the detail in these, I love taking photos on mushrooms

    Thank you for linking up

    1. Thanks Darren, I thought they were cute and couldn't resist capturing the image. Thanks for visiting and hosting once again :D

  2. That's a lot of mushrooms - even growing in the sidewalk. Love the chicken shot.

    1. Thanks Carol. The mushrooms were growing on my sister's patio! They obviously like the base of the tree trunk :D

  3. What a cute little chicken coop! Those mushrooms look poisonous to me. In fact, all mushrooms look poisonous unless they're in a grocery store.

    1. I would never dare to eat any mushrooms other than the ones bought from a grocery store either Debra.
The chicken coop is contained within an old ruined barn and is secure to keep them safe from the fox! So far so good :D

  4. Ah gorgeous pics, especially Flo. I'm with her though, I'm not too impressed by the cold :) X #MySundayPhoto

    1. I like to see the snow and to play for a day ie taking photos etc but then I like it to disappear after a day!
      Enjoy your Sunday :D

  5. No clue with wild mushrooms, but they are so cute. Loved Flo's apprehensive stare at the new white stuff. Glad you're back home. Have a nice winter week. :)

    1. I've had someone help identifying them on Twitter Rita, but I don't think I'll be eating anytime soon :(
I'm glad to be back home too... and trying to get back into the swing of things.
I hope you are having a great weekend. Our weather has warmed up a wee bit to 7C degrees :D

  6. Cool pics of the 'shrooms. Flo.."what the ...!" She sure does look confused. :)

    1. Exactly Nan... all of the girls were very confused and for quite some time. Finally they ventured out!
The snow has disappeared thankfully. I love to see it but I don't like it hanging around. I don't mind if it comes back on Christmas Day, but then that's all :D

  7. I bet those mushrooms are real delicacies! I'm quite jealous of your snow, poor little hen looks less impressed!

    1. Well I'm not going to try them... sorry. I'm not that brave!
Don't be jealous of the snow because it's all disappeared now, although it did stick for a few days. It can come back for Christmas Day, but that's all :D

  8. I like seeing the snow in the hills, but it can sty there lol :p

  9. Aren't mushrooms wonderful ...loved your photographs.

I also appreciated the one of 'Flo looking completely flummoxed'
Winter is certainly upon us with cold winds and possibly more snow on the way for some parts of the UK.

    Keep warm, keep safe.

    All the best Jan

  10. Mushrooms are quite fascinating to look at and I love how you've captured the detail on these ones :-)

I get so excited to see you here and love to read your thoughts and comments.
I always try to answer each one personally (I think it's only polite)
