A Giveaway...Plus What's on Your Work Desk? WOYWW

It's Wednesday and I've finally managed to catch up with the WOYWW gang! I've been missing for a few weeks, but I'm back and to make up for my absense I'm including a link to my 'giveaway'...but you'll have to be quick to enter because the giveaway ends tomorrow.
It's very simple to enter...all you have to do is leave a comment on the post and Mufftypup might draw your name as the winner. She's raring to go for the draw because she knows that they'll be lots of chicken available if she does a good job ^..^
Check out the last giveaway draw.
Yes I know I haven't given you much time to enter and I should have told you earlier ~ sorry!
So let me explain for all of my new followers that WOYWW stands for What's on Your Workdesk and is the brainchild of Julia over at Stamping Ground
Nip across and check out all the various artist and crafters desks across the globe. They're a great bunch and very friendly...they'd love to meet you I'm sure.
Now I'm thinking that this could be a monumental week because not only am I involved with the WOYWW  creative, crafty gang, but I've been partying with the lovely Vicki at 2 Bags Full who has organised a mammoth Party Blog Hop! So if the two come together here...WOW that would be amazing!

Well without further delay (because WOYWW is supposed to be a brief post ~ which as you know I have great difficulty keeping brief...it's just not in my makeup apparently...see here I am waffling about keeping brief! (sigh)
So what's on my desk this beautiful sunny day? Well there's lots of wonderful light for a start!
Apologies if the sun has left your part of the world, but I'll let you have a quick warm from mine ;D

There are a few new things and one little package that I picked up yesterday from the art suppliers. Well I just happened to be passing but then how can you pass? If you know how then tell me...but on the other hand...never mind I don't think I want to know! Its harmless enough isn't it?

One of the reasons why I didn't make last Wednesday was because I'd made a card that had to reach the UK and I wasn't sure if it would spoil the surprise if I posted it before it arrived.
Now if I tell you my nephew has crabs I don't want any sniggers please! That includes you at the back there!
He has a beautiful tank and keeps sending me little video clips of all the latest inhabitants.

So instead of sending the usual birthday card featuring golfers, beer or wine, or boat...not that there's anything wrong with those designs...but I wanted something different so I decided I'd draw something that was relevant to him....hence 'Hermit the Crab'.

Apologies for the quality of the photograph, but I quickly had to snap it and rush off to the post box in order for it to arrive in time for the birthday.
Now let me explain...(or give my excuse)...this is only the second time that I've tried to draw with the ink nib pen set that my daughter bought as part of my Christmas present and I realised very early on that I need to spend time practicing. Especially with regard to the lettering!
So there you have it my entry for WOYWW but I'm also thinking laterally and joining in with Jenn's Artist Playroom which this week has 'Mail Art' as its theme.  Jenn will be pleased I'm sure because she's always encouraging us to think laterally! I'm a happy bunny because I've been missing from the APR too but today I've managed to tick quite a few boxes with double entries!
Yay!!!!

My card has travelled half way around the world to keep me in touch with my nephew and I think that's special. I 'm thinking that post landing in the post box will delight him as much as it delights me. I don't think you can beat snail mail and since blogging I've had such wonderful post from very generous new friends from all over the world. I'm hoping my bright envelope with all the Australian stamps will brighten his day :D
So don't forget to enter for my giveaway if you're interested, or if you have the time check out the other links...there are lots for you this week.
Have a wonderful week everyone ~ whatever you have planned.
Enjoy and keep smiling https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511760.gif

  1. Hi, Neesie! I love your crab drawing! Although we find it much easier at times to just blog, email, or instant chat to friends and families, the personal touch of pen to paper and sent snail mail is still special!

    Have a great day!!

I have only just pushed the button on the post and there you where! Wink
I adore receiving post (other than bills obviously) and think its very special when someone takes the time and effort to send it through snail mail.
I seem to be sending and receiving far more mail this way thanks to blogging. I hope it continues!

      Have a great day too.

  2. Hi Neesie, Welcome back to our land of floods and heatwaves! I bet you are missing the cold, white stuff :)
I see a really good looking zentangle on your desk, the abstract one ... VERY nice!

    1. Well hello there RosA
How are you...okay? I'll nip over to see in a minute! ;D
Yep you're right, I am missing the white stuff but it's also very nice to be in the warm sunshine. Today is perfect at a steady 26 degrees. ;D

It's just the extreme's I don't like...take for instance the -27C night temperature, in Canada obviously and the 40C here upon our return during the odd day. Thankfully it is the odd day so I can survive.

We haven't had any rain though since before Christmas and everywhere is looking very sad and brown...well not much to talk about...only spits and spots. But then poor Queensland are having horrendous floods!
      Has the world gone mad?

You have very keen eyesight to see that card on my desk...it was a brithday card from a friend. It's not exactly a zentangle but very much like one. I wish I could say I designed it but I'm not that kind of girl...I cannot tell a lie (Mum would be proud of me!)

So let's see what you've been up to...I'm coming across now so pop that kettle on :D
      Toodleloo for now xoxo

  3. that is one heck of a cute crab, I must say!! Great job, especially with a new pen. So glad to have you back at APR, missed you. Totally great entry. Hope all is well with the Aussie weather I'm hearing about, both Trace and Von are all wet, lol. Glad they're safe.
    Much love my friend,

    1. Thanks Jenn,
Yep we're all safe and sound here, but there's some very strange weather happening around Australia. We haven't seen any real rain since before Christmas so everything has become brown and crispy. Thankfully I've got an 11,000 litres tank of collected rain water, which filled up during the winter months. Then there's bush fires burning and will burn for months to come...but then Queensland are flooded out!
Some of the news footage is incredible and there are some heart breaking stories out there. It certainly makes you wonder what's going on!

It feels so good to be back into the fold once more, although rather rushed, I was determined to enter this week... and not at the last minute either. I would never have believed that I'd draw a crab...but that's the fun part of creating art isn't it...you never know where it will lead.

Have a wonderful week and I'll join the gang later to see what everyone's been up to.
      xoxo

  4. SUN!!!!! How lovely that must be!! We spent Christmas in Florida, but I haven't seen the sun since. It's dark, cold and dreary EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Ugh, winters in Germany.

    1. Hi Lucy,
Yes I have to agree about the birthday cards. I struggled for days trying to find something suitable but couldn't find anything and that's why I decided to draw one myself.
I've only just started to do my own during this year, but I feel so much better that they are now more personal and relevant to the recipient.
Thanks for your encouragement and for stopping by my workdesk.

See you soon...in the meantime have fun desk hopping :D

  10. Hi Neesie - Loving that Hermit crab!! Great idea to link it to APR too ;)
I hope you enjoyed strolling around the art supplies store. I cannot walk past one without at last having a look in. After all, they've gone to all the effort of stocking the place, the least I can do is go in and spend some money - er, I mean TIme in there. WOuld be rude not to!
Ahh, nice and snug now, thanks for the warm. we have very chilly gusts of 50+mph today! So it's ankle weights on when I go fetch in the bins, if they're still around that is.
Have a great evening. That sunset is GORgeous!! :0) Mo xx

    1. Hello Mo,
I did enjoy my sneaky...(cough)...I mean my quick visit into the art store and I have to say I think I was very restrained really...under the circumstances. It helped that they were running very low on supplies after the holiday period, otherwise I might have a different story to tell!!!
I agree totally with your theory that if they stock it, we have a duty to keep these stores open by buying it ;D

What a giggle thinking about you having ankle weights on for the bin run. You'll be super fit by spring when the grand unveiling of hybernation happens.
The sunset was a nice one but it's turned chilly now the sun has disappeared. The last two evenings we've eaten al-fresco but not tonight.
Have a wonderful week and I'll nip to see you soon. xoxo

This weeks weather has been perfect so I've been appreciating it.
There's rain on the way apparently which is welcome because there's been none here since before Christmas (so I'm told) Everything is beginning to look very brown and crisp!
There are fires nearby in Victoria and then Queensland has all of those terrible floods. What a mixed bag!

Thanks for popping over...I'm looking forward to visiting APR later to see what you've all been up to.
Have a great day with lots of creativity :D

    1. Hello there,
I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing...or should that be "how you're going"? ;D
I hope the floods, gales and hoolies haven't caused any damage and because you're here I'll assume you're all okay! I do hope so.

      Haven't I been a very busy bee lately...hehe :D
In fact I've been in the studio ALL DAY!!! I've also been trying to film the 'giveaway draw'...but the 'Diva' (Muffy) refused to come out of the 'Green Room' needing more time to prepare. I think next time I'll just pick the name out of the hat! :$

Arthur appears to have recovered thankfully...but who knew he was such a party animal? I always thought of him as a stately gentleman! How wrong can you be?

I've got all the APR gang to visit plus the WOYWW too, so I think I'm in for a hectic time trying to fit it all in. I can't wait to catch up and see what you've been up to though.
Have a great night and an even better weekend. Stay safe and thanks for stopping by...I didn't even have the kettle on!
      xoxo

    1. Hello Sandra,
Thanks for popping over to my desk. I didn't particularly feel it was organised but if you say so then that's fine by me!

I've managed to spend some time in the studio last week, which was wonderful. I hope to do the same again this week ;D

Whatever you have planned I hope your week is a good one :D

    1. Aww thank you Darla,
I would perhaps have had more practice with the nibs, if my hubby hadn't have thrown them out. They were in a little paper bag and he thought it was rubbish!
He's not fessing up to it...but we all know it was him. ;D

Have a wonderful creative week whatever you have planned. I'll be along to see soon :D

  35. I absolutely love your hermit crab card, Neesie! That would be a perfect design to scan and make note cards for many kinds of occasions. Blessings!

I wasn't sure about the crab but it was just so perfect to send to my nephew now he has this latest hobby.
I've never drawn one before so that was good...stretching me ;D

Thanks for stopping by ~ I'll be over to see what you've been up to soon.
