What's On Your Work Desk? #248

I wish I could say something was on my workdesk but look...nada...zip...diddleysquat!
But there is progress...we now have at least highlighted which room will be the art studio. If you've visited me previously you may realise that it's not the original room that I told you about. Like many things around here lately, the plan keeps changing.
Here's what the other room looked like with it's open fire and downstairs location.
It would be a fantastic room but then it would be better as an office/study/snug etc so we've relocated upstairs.
This location will be better because I'll be able to make a mess, leave things lying around or out on the desk etc, so I'm hoping that it'll lend itself to more productivity.
Well they'll be no excuse because our daughter is returning home and she has BIG plans for the room too. This is actually her desk and the paint splattered chair was my Grandmothers. Note the new windows?
The light wasn't the best for taking these photos and now when I look at the colours I'm glad that I'm not showing you my artwork. For instance, the carpet is in fact blue. It was to be thrown out but now will remain because it will probably be splashed, glued, and generally splodged!

The view out of this window is stunning and should certainly inspire us...its overlooking the side garden and is filled with plants, trees, masses of birds and their song. It also has amazing sunsets too.
Oh I'm so looking forward to spring and summer.

Anyway, the lovely Julia over at her Stamping Ground blog will be slapping my wrists for taking so much of your time...these WOYWW posts are supposed to be brief so that we can nip around the globe checking out each others desks...and there's a few to visit.
If you'd like to play too click here to be transported.

But one last thing that your might like to see before you go...It's Aberdeen Art Gallery.

Aberdeen Art Gallery is the main visual arts exhibition space in the city of Aberdeen. It opened in 1885 in a building designed by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie.
The fascinating history of the Art Gallery can be traced back to 1873.
I nipped into the gift shop briefly last week and noticed that they are currently exhibiting 'The Great Tapestry of Scotland'.
I know that many of the WOYWW gang may be interested to read about this amazing project.

Well I must dash...there's so much to do.
I'm so sorry if I haven't managed to reply to your much loved comments or visited you yet, but I hopefully will. I have every good intention, it's just this sleep thingy that happens and gets in the way especially after my 5.30am start and 17 hours on the go!
Have a wonderful Wednesday whatever you do...have fun and keep smiling

  1. What an excellent room to move into, you could do a lot with it. As for the carpet, you probably need it for warmth otherwise I would get rid of it. Actually I did in my room, too many accidents. LOL What an amazing gallery such architecture, thank you for sharing.

    1. I'm not too bothered about the carpet Eliza but as you say it would give a cosier feel to the room. If we have too many accidents then like you we'll turf it out ;D
I thought everyone would like to see the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by...it's great to see you again.
Happy WOYWW to you and Yoda

  2. Hi Neesie, it's love to be catching up with you. The window from your 'new' art studio is fantastic although it sounds as though the view could be a bit of a distraction. And how lovely for you that your daughter is coming home. I have carpet on my craft room floor but wish I didn't ... I spend far too much time worrying about dropping stuff on it! The entrance to the art gallery is beautifully imposing and I'm hoping to see the tapestry when/if it comes to a gallery near me. Elizabeth x #76

    1. Hi Elizabeth and it's lovely to catch up with you too ;D
The carpet that is in that room is old and needing replacing but I'm not going to do that if we're going to be painting and such like in there. I'm not going to stress about it.
I'm also thinking by keeping the carpet it will help to keep the room cosier.
I haven't been back into town since to see the tapestry but hope to if I can squeeze a little free time before it moves on.
Another week has past since I posted this so I've been very tardy with replying but thankfully I'm here now.
Have a wonderful creative week and I hope to see you again soon

    1. Hi Jo,
I thought quite a few of the WOYWW ladies would love to see the tapestry and that's why I decided to post about it.
Thanks for stopping by and I can't believe that a week has flown by and I'm only just getting to reply to your lovely comment.

We've still got a little wait but I'm hoping we should be sorting by the end of the month. If I don't hurry the garden will be calling for my attention and time and then I'll be in a pickle which will get priority. Maybe I'll have to allocate time slots for various activities...all getting a little silly really.
When did life get this busy?
I hope you're finding time to create. I haven't visited you for ages but hope to correct that soon.
In the meantime have fun xoxo

I'm so incredibly lucky that every window in this house has great views...I just have to resist staring out of them otherwise nothing would get done! ;D

    1. Well I've got the space but nothing in it yet Zo...it seems years since I sat at a desk and produced some artwork. Hopefully I'll be organised and creating soon ;D
I hope you have a creative week with lots of Baxter fun time. ^..^

  7. Always a plus to be able to leave things out so that they can wait around for your next visit. Saves a lot of time. ;) Lovely view and great new windows! Smart idea not to remove the carpet until it is paint splattered--LOL! Having an old carpet you aren't worrying about getting dirty or stained--best thing for an art & craft room! This seems like a much better choice all around. :)

    1. Thanks Rita,
I think it should work out well. The other room is downstairs and a little large for a studio...much as I'd like a big room. It just seemed a little over the top. Anyway, we can always relocate if things expand and we need more room.
I hope all is well with you and Karma. I'll pop across as soon as I can to see what you're up to.
      Have a great week ;D

  9. I like this room better. It seems more dedicated to art plus it has that fabulous view. That's smart thinking to keep the old carpet, then you won't have to fret about a new one and getting it messed up. Judy #92

  11. It's going to be a fab craft room. I would pull out the carpet they're a fit it clean and don't dry out when wet. Also they hold tiny bits that could hurt ms Muffin. If you get into that sort of creating. Lovely to see you linking in. Still installing windows? How many do you have? Warm Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #101

    1. Hi Nan...yep still installing windows. We had 36 to change over and we're almost there thankfully. Just a huge rear bedroom lounge one and two smaller ones to go!
I'm thinking about setting a rule that my daughter doesn't get to splash her paints around in that room...the garage will be great for those kinds of creations.
I'm quite a tidy artist and use just an ink pen mainly so they'll be no problems for the carpet as far as I can see...well for now anyway ;D
Hugs batcha and Happy week ago WOYWW!

  13. I would love to have that much natural light in my room...but over all I'm happy just to have claimed this space where I play. 14. What a fabulous room, Denise! ... like a blank canvas :D Greetings from a cool-ish Brisbane. We have +25°c at the moment. It's somewhat grey with some slight rain at times. +28°c is promised... Funny, if I was still in Sweden these temperatures would equal a nice Summer's day, but today I feel like wearing jeans and a warm jumper :) Autumn hugs from Australia♥ ~Pernilla

Those temperatures sound wonderful and just within my perfect range. Yesterday we had 14 degrees here and everyone went mad. I even called into the garden centre and purchased masses of things to put into the garden but today we're back with the grey I'm afraid. I just hope that wasn't summer! LOL
Springy hugs back to you ♥
Have a great week whatever the weather!

  15. awesome room! I loved the other one too but didn't you have some issues with the cold last winter? Hope this one is better. I still haven't finished changing rooms. Working on it though. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my desk! Vickie aka Okienurse #57

    1. I think this room will be cosier as it's in the centre of the house plus the sun (which hopefully will shine) comes flooding in which is both great for lighting plus warmth! Win win situation ;D
It's a slow process moving from one room to another and add that to our 12,000 mile move earlier in the year then it's no wonder we aren't sorted yet. But we will get there.
      Good luck with your move.
Have a great week too and thanks for your visit.
