My Sunday Photo...and other things

Today started beautifully with the sunrise casting it's magic light onto the woods.
It reminds me so much of Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia when the light catches it like this.
It promised to be a bright day but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.
The clouds blew in on a chilly wind and it was accompanied by a shower or two of rain.
I'm keen to see what tomorrow brings because there's talk of snow!
If it arrives I'll be sure to take some photo's.
I can't imagine how Mufftypup will get on if it does arrive, because she's been clipped this week.
Unfortunately she has very little hair at the moment as the groomer seemed to be a little over zealous to say the least. Muffy's been very keen to put her jumpers on and doesn't stray far from either the wood burner or the Aga.

Finally, this week I've finished my little trips away, so it's down to the serious business of getting ready for Christmas. I even enjoyed cleaning the house today!
I know... what's that about?
I was concerned too, so I checked my temperature and pulse rate but it seems that I'm okay.
It just shows what the holiday season does to you.
I delegated the job of having the eight boxes of decorations brought down from the attic.
So tomorrow I start in earnest... decorating the house, trees up, recipes and menu's planned...
... and then maybe I'll wake up?

I was also checking through my photos today, and I came across my Christmas book tree.
I took this photo a few years ago when we lived in Melbourne but I love it.
I thought you might like to see it.
I was so pleased because I adore books and this just seemed perfect.
I never normally like to even open a book fully whilst reading it, so to break it's back is normally unthinkable for me, but these were older specially chosen ones for this purpose.
It was quite a busy day today because I was also Santa's helper too.
My daughter has taken a little trip to London and called in the magic elves to keep the studio in full production mode whilst she was away.
The orders are flooding in for her Christmas designs which is wonderful.
Here's a link if you'd like to take a peek...nicallan.co.uk

As you can see the 'Quality Control Elf' (aka Mufftypup) was in prime position to check I had everything in order.
After all that activity it was time to settle down in front of a roaring fire with our yule log glowing to watch a Christmas movie.
Someone had better get some serious rest because tomorrow could be quite eventful, especially with a tree coming into the house and possible snow!
... and so the day comes to a close... (yawn)
but before I head off to snoozeyland I'm going to join the Sunday photo linky, Wordless (on Tuesday)) and Create with Joy.
Create With Joy
Whatever you have planned for tomorrow have fun and enjoy the day...
I hope to see you again soon

  1. Looking like lots of Christmas planning is getting under way with you. I have my cards but yet to write any!

    1. Oh I haven't written mine either... it's all on the plan for tomorrow.
It could be quite a day! ;D
Enjoy your Sunday and I'll see you soon... I need to sleep first x

  2. The fire makes me feel all cosy - I wish I had one of those!

    1. I can't praise the wood burner enough Molly.
Ours is yet again blasting out much needed heat plus it's a beautiful sight.
Thanks for visiting... have fun in the coming week ;D

  3. That sky is gorgeous - I can see why it reminds you of Ayers Rock and I love the Christmas book tree - looks great :-)

    1. The first time the sunrise hit the woods and lit it with the red glow I couldn't believe it.
It was such a strong reminder to our time in Australia.
I love the book too so might make a new one... if I can find suitable books.
Have a great Sunday evening and thanks for stopping by my place.

  4. Love the Christmas Book Tree!! Such a fab idea

    Laura x x x

    1. I couldn't stop thinking about the book tree when first saw it until I actually made one myself.
I adore books so it was special and it was fun to build.

  5. My word you are a busy bee! Love the Xmas Book Tree too - gorgeous!

Little Mufftypup looks positively delightful reclining in her bed. Little darling that she is :)

    1. I always try to cram so much into my day Wendy... but sometimes it doesn't always turn out for the best (headless chicken comes to mind)
Today was a great day and I ticked lots of boxes.
I thought the book tree would be popular with the Sunday photo gang.
Oh yes... Mufftypup is a darling but a minx too. She knows how to work the system with that look!
She's curled up beside me as I type ^..^
Thanks for visiting my place. Have a great week

  6. Oh, I want one of those book Christmas trees, fabulous :)

    1. Well it was quite easy to make Sara and as you can see... very effective ;D
It certainly is a talking point.
Thanks for stopping by... enjoy your Sunday evening and I hope you have a great week ahead.

  7. Neesie you are having waaaaay too much fun. And what fun photos you've shown today. Muffy pup is just adorable and you with the elf hat....you MUST show your daughter that photo when she gets home. I'm sure it will become a favorite of hers. Its been raining here but now we have a few days to dry out before more rain next weekend. We have plans to go panning for gold the first weekend in January so hopefully we will get a little window there with no rain.

My Christmas spirit is a little lacking this year.....not sure entirely why though i expects its something to do with the impending move even if it is a quite a while yet...... Just no gumption. But like you tomorrow the Christmas boxes come out and Christmas will commence......... :) Talk to you soon Hugs! deb

    1. I try to enjoy and have fun every day Deb,
"Say you like me hat?" oh yes you did! hehe
I think my daughter might well have seen the photo, but I haven't heard her reaction yet. She's having too much fun.
I thought it would give everyone a chuckle. I also had reindeer antlers plus a santa's hat to choose from. Lots of options Emoji
Still no snow here today, but it's afa cald (as they say) Muffy certainly doesn't hang about outside taking her oblutions!

Wow panning for gold. I didn't think anyone still did that.
I hope you not only get a little window with no rain, but find a huge chunk of gold!

I have to confess that I haven't progress on the Christmas front either. I've still not written a card or put up the wreaths, garlands or tree. Other things have taken the day. I'll try again tomorrow.
We'll get there Deb... we always do

  8. I love the book tree. I might have to do that next year!

    1. It's incredibly simple once you find the right sizes and amount of books. I'm thinking of doing another but might not manage it in time for this year.
Have fun and thanks for visiting my place.

  9. what a gorgeous little pup. so cute. and that xmas book tree is fab.

    1. Aww thanks Sherry, she's the best in the world and very special ^..^
I'm glad the book tree is a big hit. I loved making it and having it decorate my home. I'm such a book lover so it was very appropriate.
Thanks for visiting my place... have a brilliant Sunday evening

  10. Lots of cute photos today Neesie. Aren't you glad that in Scotland you only have to think about cleaning the inside of the house for Christmas guests - I've been out jet blasting the patio here in Melbourne and wishing I had a Santa's Little Helper! Always loved the book tree - so many great memories!
    Wren xx

    1. Whatjamean?... I only have to clean the inside of the house Wren,
So why do I have cleaning the windows, tidying the garden borders, planting winter pansies into pots and cleaning the cars on my list!??!!!?
Maybe we'll be lucky and get lots of snow and it will cover everything up.
I know of a brilliant Santa's helper but she's already booked. Pity really as I'd have loved to come for a warm up. We could talk about the good old days of the book club get-together's.
Keep blasting my friend... and then have a restful week ahead.

    2. Neesie, Neesie, Neesie... Hey you relax with one of your delicious home made mince pies... I reckon you should jettison those non essentials off your Todo list - sure as eggs is eggs you'll have frost on your windows, snow on your borders and ice covering your pansies!!!! I won't tell if you don't.... Just call me Santas Little Helper!!! Wren x

  11. Those trees really do look like Ayers Rock! The book tree is a fab idea :)

    1. Don't they just Sarah,
I couldn't believe it when it first happened. It wasn't long after arriving back from Oz and I thought I was having a funny turn! ;D
Glad you liked the book tree.
Have a great week ahead and thanks for stopping by my place.

  12. Replies
    1. Thanks Amy,
I had fun building it and was amazed it looked so good when I'd finished.
      Certainly different anyway ;D
Have a great week and thanks for the visit

  13. I love the book tree idea, that is indeed fab.

    1. I thought so too... from the minute I saw it in the magazine.
Thanks for visiting my place and leaving a comment.
      Have a great week

  14. What a fabulous post, with lots of lovely photos. Your Ayers rock pic is gorgeous and I remember the book tree post and my *gasping* at the broken spines and your explaining they're old books, haha. Mufty looks adorable in the wee coat watching santa's helper, helping Nic. I'm so pleased her cards are flying out the door. I've made about 120 this year and can't face writing in them yet, haha, but that's my plan for this week, and our decs go up next Sunday. That's soon enough for us. We have snow/sleet forecast; it's certainly cold enough for one or t'other. Well, I wish you lots of energy for your days activities Denise, hope all goes smoothly ((hugs)) xoxox
