  1. Looks like it could be a scene out of a fairytale - such wonderful scope for imagination in this shot.

    1. I'm so glad you thought so Louise because that's why I chose it for my Sunday shot.
It's certainly got everyone's imagination going... including my own.

    1. There's all sorts of possibilities Tara but unfortunately I don't have a clue.
We just stumbled across it as we walked through our local woods.

  5. That's really interesting. It should definitely be a mythical creature. It would be great in a film or TV show.

    1. The possibilities are endless Sarah and that's why I thought I'd show everyone one from the Sunday linkup.
The more I think about it the more possibilities I come up with ;D

    1. I thought someone from the Sunday link up might have been able to tell me. The most popular seems to be along the fairy tale line ;D

    1. It's certainly been there for quite some time. It's too small for a shelter other than for a wee beastie. A person couldn't fit into it. It could have been for storage of some sort for the farm hands back in the day... or maybe it is just for the trolls or fairies?
Thanks for your visit... You must visit so many over the weekend which is incredible.
I always have the thought that I will but the time just gets eaten away.
Thanks for providing such a fun linky.
Enjoy your Sunday evening and good luck to the girls for school.

    1. Well you'd have to be rather wee to fit into it... it is quite small.
I'm still trying to work out who or what lived there or even what it might have been used for.
      Still no answers I'm afraid.

    1. Unfortunately, I didn't Tas... maybe all the noise we made upon our approach frightened them away?
Thanks for your visit... enjoy your week.

    1. You're definitely right there... it is man-made and has been there for a long time. Now I just need to find out why? It's really causing me far more thought provoking questions than I would like... because I've still not got any answers.

  12. I agree with chickenruby, it does look manmade, but it's very exciting! Do you know the history of the place Denise? It could have been some sort of cooking place, a kiln perhaps, or a childs play area. Wonderful picture to capture the imagination :D xx

    1. I think it is Mo but unfortunately I haven't got any answers as to what it is or who used it. I certainly has been there for quite some time. We just stumbled across it on one of Muftypup's walks through our local woods. I don't think it was for cooking or fire because of the big stone placed on the top. Although thinking about it I suppose it could have been put on the top to keep the site dry, making it easier to light a fire. All I know is that it's been there for quite some time.
I'm no nearer knowing why it's there or who put it there. A mystery indeed :/

    1. Oh how I wish I could tell you what it is or was used for Laurie,
I've been giving it lots of thought and I'm still no nearer... except to say it's been there for quite some time.
Let's stick with the troll and fairy theory until I hear otherwise.

    1. I agree NC Sue and that's why I wanted to share it.
I'm also hoping that someone might actually know what it was used for.

  16. If not a fairy or troll, you could image Robin Hood running along and sliding into the hole to hide from the sheriff!

    1. Oh now that's a completely different take on it Emma,
The only trouble would be that it would be a bit snug for Robin Hood, because it's quite small. Even for a dog... so Friar Tuck wouldn't stand a chance!

  17. "I do! I do!" said the little grey mouse.

    1. Your theory is the most popular one Rita.... so we'll go along with it.
Meanwhile, I'm still wanting to know who put it there and why?
If I find out then I'll certainly let everyone know.

  19. I think it's too well taken care of to be a troll or anything creepy, it looks like where the 7 Dwarves enter the mine, can you hear the echos of "HI-HO"????

    1. Oh I never thought of that Nikki,
I'll have to revisit and listen carefully. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
