A Misty Morn

During this last week, we have had some incredible weather up here in the North East of Scotland, in fact some of the best weather in the whole of the UK, which is pretty special and doesn't happen very often.
The photo's below are from a few moments snapping away at the view across the back field.
It reinforced the practice of grabbing my camera and seizing the moment whenever I see something that captures my attention... because within about half an hour the mist had lifted and the weather changed.
I'm always saying 'seize the day', but maybe I should change that now to 'seize the moment'.

I'm still becoming familiar with my new camera lens... I think I've still got quite a lot to learn, but I'm having fun along the way.

As usual I am linking up with Photalife.com

Each week I hope to visit everyone, but with all the best will in the world, I don't always make it.
But what I can promise is that if you have visited me, then I will return the compliment.

So thanks for popping by my place and I hope to see you again soon.
Have a wonderful week.

    1. Thanks Louise, I didn't expect to see the mist so it was a nice surprise. Below the line of trees in these photos is the river. This makes perfect conditions for some early misty mornings.

  2. We've had some lovely crisp mornings down south but, my God, it's been cold at times - minus 5 or 6 most mornings here. Brrr!

    1. We've had similar freezing weather, but I'd much rather bright crispy sunny days than dark grey wet ones wouldn't you?
Minus 3 has been our lowest so far. Brrr indeed!

  3. Such beautiful pics, we have had so much fog, it has been so bad you couldn't see off the end of the drive, I am so glad it has lifted x

    1. Ugh... fog. We very often have a sea fog that rolls up our hill. They call it 'the haar' here. It can make the temperature drop by nearly 10 degrees when it rolls in. Not nice at all.
Hopefully you won't have any more fog now... spring surely must be on it's way soon?

    1. It can very often be hanging around further down the hill because below the line of trees is the River Dee. I am only just able to capture it now that I have my new zoom lens.

    1. We sometimes are bothered by the sea fog (the haar) that comes in off the North Sea, but that's not been the case. We've had amazingly great weather for the last week or so, which I'm so grateful for, especially at this time of year.

  19. Hello Denise. And thanks for the kind words about my own blog. You live in a lovely part of Scotland where as you sat the bird life is fantastic. It's not often I get north of the border I do love the open landscapes that you picture and of course some of the special birds of Scotland.

    1. Hello Phil, great to have you visit.
We do have an amazing amount of wild birds around here. Not so long ago we visited the cliff tops and managed to see masses of varieties, but best of all we saw two puffins. Sadly the numbers are declining here.
I often pop down to Cheshire as all my family live there :D

  20. Hi Denise, seizing the moment is the only way to live. You certainly have captured some magical moments, in the first image the windmill and what appears to be a castle to the left is fabulous. The fog hanging in the valleys reminds me of the mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. What a pleasant visit this was!

I'm glad my images brought back memories for you.
Thanks for your comment and visit. Have a great week :D

  22. Hi those are truly some moments to seize in camera! It is amazing how people in temperate countries already got delighted in 3-5°C, when we here in the hot tropics already got delighted as our cold temps at 25°C, these months from Dec to Feb. I haven't experienced winter as my few travels abroad are normally timed in spring. I have some blogger friends from Scotland too, one is also a photographer-writer and one a butterfly photographer. All of you are wonderful photographers.

  23. Is that a wind generator I spy - we saw several in Germany and they are huge!
Every time I visit you I say I am going to start taking pictures and start drawing - but I never do. I think I am just a dreamer!
