My Sunday Photo...Busy Bee On Lavender

I think this might be one of the best photos that I've managed to take of a busy bee.
I must admit I'm rather proud of it, but I have to admit that I've deleted nearly 20 that weren't so good. They are just so busy and flighty at this time of year...never staying still for more than a few seconds.
They really do test your skill and patience!
As usual I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo over at Photalife.com

    1. Thanks Fiona. I adore nature and something will just capture my eye as if it's a camera lens and I've then got to take a shot!
      The lavender is positively buzzing.

  2. That's a fab shot of the bee on the flower. I can never manage to capture them clearly.

    1. It took quite a few photos to get this one Louise. I was about to give in, but then he just lingered that fraction of a second longer and I was able to capture him.

  3. A great shot - you've captured the pinpoint detail perfectly. No harm in deleting 20 shots if it means you capture the perfect one!

    1. I didn't think I'd managed to capture the detail so deleting all the out of focus shots doesn't seem so bad once I'd captured him.
I had so many buzzing around me...it was difficult to focus on one.

  4. I found with a common camera, it's almost impossible to get a good picture of an insect

    1. It's certainly tricky Adam. I took over twenty shot before getting this one. Thankfully he stayed a little longer collecting his treasure, so I was able to capture him. I still would have liked it to be a little more in focus.

  5. Beautiful and I know how tricky this type of shot can be (bee?) as I tried one myself recently!

I was thrilled that I actually managed to capture this busy bee. He certainly tried my patience, but it was worth it in the end.

  9. I keep seeing lavender everywhere right now and it's so beautiful. Love the very close up bee hard work. So hard to get a good shot of them!

    1. We've always had lavender along that particular pathway and it is always so full of bees. I think my hubby counted 18 on them at one time!
It's our little gesture to helping them out...plus all the other flowers in the remaining gardens. I'm happy to say that there doesn't seem to be any decline in numbers here.

    1. It's the best I could do especially after being crouched in the border for about +15 mins. I lost the feeling in my legs...but it was worth it.

    1. It certainly did test my patience. Every time I clicked the shutter he moved off. I have quite a few photos of lavender and an out of focus blob!

  13. I agree Neesie - you are the Queen of Bees, or should I say the Queen Bee? Either way you're brilliant :)

    1. Haha...You've reminded me that I used to work with a woman that was called 'Queen Bee' I don't think she was aware that that was her name. I better not say anymore just in case she comes across this blog! I'm blushing slightly with all your lovely compliments by the way :D

    1. Hmm...yeah that's the key isn't it Jennifer...when it's not raining. We're having thunder showers in between tiny blasts of hot sunshine. It really is all over the place. I wonder when summer is going to arrive? ;D

  20. Hi Denise, that is one handsome looking bumblebee! They aren't easy to photograph at all. I love the close up detail of the fur, it looks like you could run a comb through it.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.
