What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #249

Okay, so one week on and I've still not got an actual desk to show you.
The room is in the process of being painted this week and I have to confess it does seem a little odd to actually paint the room when it'll probably have splashes and splodges of additional colour probably within a few days of my daughter and I moving into it. But every room in the house is having new windows and repainted with a fresh lick of paint....art studio included.
Anyway...I have something to show you today, but I don't want you to think that I've lost the plot or have a fit of giggles and cause yourself a mischief.
Okay well why not...(have a giggle that is and not the injury)
It's good to have a laugh isn't it?

Some of you may remember that I have picked up my knitting needles after a 20+ year gap and I was happily clicking away with no intention of actually producing anything.
But then my daughter sent me an incredible newspaper article from 'The Guardian' newspaper, which requested knitters to pick up their needles and help out, knitting penguin jumpers!
How cute are these little guys?

Now I just couldn't resist that request could I?
But it appears once again that I'm tail-end Charlie and too late to help out this time.
Thankfully the penguins have enough jumpers donated for the moment.
It's brilliant news to know that everyone responded brilliantly, but now I wonder what do I do with this...?
It's far too small for Muffy even if she gave up all of her treats ^..^
I'll just have to carry on and finish it...who knows...there maybe need for more at another time and I'll be ready and organised.
If you'd like to check out some more craft and art desks around the globe then click here to join in the fun with Julia over at Stamping Ground Blog.

Thanks for popping over to my place...it's always great to see you.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone and I hope to see you again soon.

What's on Your Workdesk ~ WOYWW #170

It's WOYWW time again..can you believe it? https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511766.gif
I've got to start with an apology today because last week was a total disaster. I tried to navigate through it as best as I could, but really I was like a dog running on lino!
I think hope that I managed to at least reply to everyone that visited my desk, but I didn't get to many of your desks. Each day I thought I'd manage some visits at least, but whoosh....the day (and evening) vanished. I also had the most embarrassing explosion of my right eye.
It's still a beautiful deep red now where the white should be!
I've even started to account for its bright shade in my dress code...I kid you not!
This is the fourth day now and I'm feeling people must think I'm a celeb or a diva at least...wandering round in shades (sunnies/sunglasses) whether or not its even light...never mind if the sun's out!
So I'm hoping I've now got your sympathy vote at least and you'll forgive me?
The coming week will definitely hopefully be better.
I'll promise try to visit everyone's desk from this last week as well as this week plus many more.....
If you're a new visitors or anyone that hasn't heard of WOYWW (What's on your Workdesk Wednesday) then you'll wonder what on earth I'm on about....basically it's the day to open your door and let everyone in to see what you're up to...well on your workdesk that is!
It's the brainchild of Julia's blog at Stamping Ground
Visitors can come from all over the world....so be prepared....and get that kettle on!
So what's on my desk this week....
How about this...?

As so many WOYWW will know it's a craft fair goodie bag...something that gets many hearts racing....
This craft fair was held here in Melbourne and I have to confess I was a craft fair virgin. :-?

Well I know this isn't technically what's on my desk...but I could have purchased it all....thankfully I didn't overwise I'd be wandering the streets homeless by now!
I did buy a huge few things but only blank cards, envelopes, sticking tape, glue pens etc so that's not going to excite or inspire you nor make interesting photos ~ so hopefully the buzz of the crowd below might?
(this was early in the day so I took the opportunity of snapping away before the masses arrived!)

There was one thing that became apparent whilst I was wandering...I now realise that in fact I'm not a crafter...which is something I didn't know before...
I now know I am an artist!
And I don't say that lightly, but so many people at the fair told me so when they saw my work...plus it's been said before many times...so from today I'm going to try and embrace that.
I AM AN ARTIST!
(ohhh...that makes my tummy flip)
I used the fair as a learning tool...I visited every stall (numerous times) and watched demonstrations, workshops and generally getting familiar with all the products, names and equipment that so many of the WOYWW gang use.
For instance I know so many of you love the Magnolia stamps...so this photo is for you! ;D
Look how many are available but then you probably already know that and have them stashed in your desks already! (it's okay I won't tell :?)

As many people enjoyed seeing a work in progress last week, I thought I'd let you have a little peek at my new design...it's only in my journal at the moment.
See how I just slipped that in like a natural...'in my journal'...
now that statement only a few weeks ago would have been unthinkable...my I have grown ;D

I know its yet another bird but these things just come flying into my head....what can I do?
I think by the look of this little cutie there could well be trouble or twitterbations, I'm not sure which...
between 'Willy Wagtail' (from last week) and this little Fairy Wren (Malurus cyaneus).
Oh I did promise I'd show you "Willy Wagtail' he once he had feet....
well they're there but you just have to use you're imagination...

So that's it for this week...I've got to get my lippy on and get out there visiting! https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1508619.gif
Maybe I'll meet up with you...I'll be the one in the dark glasses.....
Have a wonderful week with lots of creating ~ enjoy!

What's on Your Workdesk ~ WOYWW #168

It's WOYWW time again..can you believe it? https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511766.gif
Basically on a Wednesday it's time to open your door and let everyone in to see what you're up to...
well on your workdesk that is!
Visitors can come from all over the world....so be prepared....and get that kettle on!
Now let me show you what's happening on my desk (dining table again) this week....
Yep it's ME....and Mufftypup!
Now you can see what I'm up against when I'm trying to be creative.
Someone else wants to get involved....but then it all gets too much....

My son snapped this photo whilst we were busy. Or should I say I was busy!
I wasn't sure whether to post it initially...but then I thought why not?
It made me laugh because I didn't realise that she was resting her chin on the table.
She's obviously not impressed with my work.

As you can see she's modelling her 'Dennis the Menace' jumper and I'm in my quilted waistcoat....as we're still a little chilly here, although today it's looking really springlike...yay! Spring begins offically in 10 days time. At this rate I hope I may well be able to transfer back into the studio soon.
I'm in the middle of a few new designs and thankfully Mr Tommy Frog came back from the printers to join the rest of the gang ...
Here he is...

(He is now available on in my Etsy shop....see sidebar for details)

So if you want to see some more artists and crafters desks with work in progress...then why not pop over to our WOYWW host Julia's blog at Stamping Ground to check out what everyone's up to...there's always something to capture your interest or inspire you. I'm sure you'll have a good time and they're a friendly bunch...
I'm also entering this drawing into Artists in Blogland which is a blog that I've just found.

I'd also just like to thank everyone who popped by my place last week and  left such lovely comments. I really appreciate you taking the time, but if I didn't make it to your desk I apologise...I did try but it's been a crazy week...again...sigh!

So I'll try again  ~ promise :D
Have fun and enjoy your day! https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511763.gif

Creative Memories.....

Wow, so that was the weekend then? Where did it go? Well I know...but it sure moves fast.
Its incredible that those two days can zip by quicker than the whole week put together.

On Saturday it was an exceptionally wet day and so I was pleased that I'd arranged to go with a friend to a creative memories workshop.

It turned out to be a little more than a workshop ~  more like a Christmas party really, with lots of like minded arty ladies all together to enjoy a few hours being creative.
I hadn't met anyone before {other than my friend of course} but all the girls made me feel so welcome, especially the organiser Diane.

The tables were set out full of paper, photographs, folders, files, stickers, cutters, and albums. Also a table full of raffle prizes too... whoohoo....although I wasn't lucky unfortunately with my tickets but then there were freebies.

We had a lovely lunch with drinks plus tea and coffee throughout the workshop, whenever anyone needed refreshments. That's always a winner in my book. You can't beat having a cuppa whenever there's a need and sometimes even when there's not.
Everyone was so busy working on their individual projects ~ which were all so varied and interesting to see.

I kept my poor little battered antique camera hidden in my bag especially when some of the girls produced their new cameras. But I did snap quickly these two shots to show what busy bee's we all were.

I worked on an old album that I'd made for my OH for our 25th Anniversary ~ "The Story so far....."
I did enclose an IOU at the time promising to finish it one day when I ran out of time before the anniversary date. Well, 25 years is a long time to document....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I had so much encouragement and help to get me started again. Trust me I needed it but I completed another four pages by the time I came away. Yay!

You could say my album is vintage too...and also the designs I used. I had to keep it similar to the earlier work which I completed about 8 years ago. I couldn't use the modern trendy designs because they just wouldn't match the earlier work.
Creative memories have such beautiful products its really easy to be swept away. Its a good job that my daughter didn't come with me ~ she would have been hyperventilating.

There's also the modern way of creating using the digital method which quite a few of the girls were doing.

As I mentioned they were a very friendly and supportive group especially having a new recruit in the camp. I heard all about a recent trip they had taken for a creative crafting weekend. They stayed at a seaside town location called Rye. Its about 83km south of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula.
The peninsula is extremely popular for getaways for swimmers, fisherman, yacthsmen and kite surfers, walkers, beachcombers, and artists or just anyone wanting a change of scenery out of the city. Its so perfect for a quick getaway. Certainly an inspiring location for getting the artistic juices flowing.

It seems to have everything....from high flying to solitary walks.....
with beautiful scenery too

By all accounts the group had a very productive fun stay especially visiting the local spa....well when a group of girls get together its a must isn't it? What better way to spend a few hours.
Here's a link of the house that the girls stayed in which by the feedback certainly ticked all their boxes.

Enjoy your Monday because before you know it ~ it'll be next Monday! ; D
