Paint Party Friday... horse sketch

Well what a night that was.... or should I say a few days/weeks/months even!
I decided that I wouldn't post about the Scottish Referendum here, but I will say that I've been up until very late last night and awake from 5am this morning watching and listening to the outcome of the vote.
So, as you can imagine I'm feeling like I'm having an out of body experience this morning as I try to wake up.
It doesn't help that I still can't see anything due to the continuing fog outside!
Yes, it's STILL with us which must be the fifth or sixth consecutively day.
I feel like I have cataracts!
Everywhere I look there's a blurred image.

I'm hoping that you can actually see my photo today because the light was very bad and not ideal for taking photo's. I've even tweaked them in the hope that it might help you to see the image.
Now if someone had said "why don't you draw a horse"?
I'd have laughed or possibly used a swear word.
Now as you know from my Silent Sunday entry a few weeks ago, I don't mind riding them but to draw one is a totally different challenge.
But that's what my art teacher said in class this week, which produced a loud collective groan around the room.
Not only were we to draw a horse but an enlarged version of the example picture at that!
At this stage, I nearly made my excuses and slinked out of the room, but let me tell you I'm proud to say I stuck with it, because I had no idea that there are tricks that can help with this challenge.
Numbers and measuring were not what I expected to be using in an art class, but hey voilà.... before I knew it, a horse appeared on my paper.
I'm now spending the odd hour or two when I can to complete the shading.
Or should I say hatching and cross hatching... (hehe)... see something has sunk in.
I must say I'm having difficulty with trying to do this, as I just want to run free with it but that's not part of the plan. I'll continue to do as I'm told for my homework and perhaps just redo my own version as and when.
It appears that I'm creating a series of animal drawings over these last few months.
There's been Hettie, Nellie, and a very funny looking cockerel and now this horse.
Who knows what will be next?

    1. It's my pleasure to share with the PPF and FS gang Giggles,
I'm like a walking zombie this morning, after a very late night and an extremely early morning. My daughter and son worked at a polling station on a 16 hour shift, but I'm so proud of them contributing to such an unbelievably historic day at such close quarters.
      Hugs to you too

    1. Well, thankfully the fog has disappeared this morning.
We just have a mist off in the distant hills. Rumour has it that we might actually see some sunlight tomorrow.
I'm thinking it might send me a little doolally if it does show up... a little more than I usually am ;)
So I better put a warning out.
Great to have you visit... have a wonderful weekend

    1. Aww thanks Claire,
I'm finding it rather tedious but I'll keep going until it's done.
I don't want to be on detention for not completing my homework.
I'll be sure to post the finished version - whenever that might be ;D
Happy PPF to you... enjoy your weekend

    1. Oh we're still here Mark... but feeling a little weary after so little sleep over the last two days.
I'm happy to say the Scotch Mist has disappeared too and there's the possibility of sun tomorrow. LIke the song says... "... The sun'll come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be sun"
      Well fingers crossed.
      Have a great weekend ;D

    1. Thanks denthe, I'm having fun with the classes,
It's been quite a momentus few days and it's still playing out with every man and his dog having a say one way or another.
I'm quite looking forward to heading up the wooden hill a little earlier tonight ZZzzzZ
Thanks for stopping by... have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your spring weather.
Not that I'm envious in any way of course ;D

  6. The horse is wonderful - you are doing a fantastic job. There's a lot of movement in that drawing. I know that either way the result of the referendum means some kind of change - when I left my last full time job - my friends gave me a t-shirt that said "change is good - you go first"

    1. Aww bless you for your encouraging words ;D
It's a very momentous time right now for the whole of the UK, so we'll watch the next developments with interest.
Thanks for giving me a giggle with your story of the t-shirt.
Thanks for visiting my place and I wish you a lovely weekend.

  7. Fabulous! I like the block idea, so may investigate that idea :D Look forward to the finished item, but would also be fascinated to see what your own version would look like.
I'm glad the referendm is over. I stuck it out until 2am, but then gave in to the calling of my pillows. I can't say I was delighted to be getting up to the call of Wee Man at half five, but hey, he doesn't know his crazy gran only went up not long before that, haha. Kitchen duties kept me from crawling back to the pit after he went off on the school bus, and then I got my second wind, so I'm fine for now, but I have a feeling I shall be seeing the inside of my eyelids at a more responsible hour tonight ;)
Have a great weekend Denise xox

    1. I was surprised at how easy it was, but it was so effective making a difficult task do-able.
I'm glad it's over too... I'm fit to drop myself with only four hours sleep over the last two days. My son and daughter worked a polling station in town for 16 hours shift, so we're a very weary household tonight. I'm not sure how long we'll last or who will cave in first and head up the wooden hill.
I'm looking forward to see the inside of my eyelids too.
Have a great weekend and let's hope the sun finds us... it's about time it did!

  9. Pretty soon you'll have a whole zoo of animals. Just make sure that Muffy is in charge of all those critters. I love her shoes by the way.

Your horse is amazing in it's deal.

    1. Oh Muffy is keeping a close eye on everything Boo... ^..^
I'm not sure if the horse will be the last animal in the collection. I never know what I'm going to draw so it's as much a surprise to me as to everyone else.
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend... enjoy

  10. Wow, Neesie, I'd still run a mile if someone said horse but look at you. That horse is amazing, your shading is fantastic. I know what you mean when you want to run off in your own direction, I'm terrible with that. I don't understand why you are tired waiting for the Scottish decision, is was live in the afternoon here (he he). Hope it's what you wanted.
Have you tried all lining up in the garden and blowing really hard, that might get rid of the fog :)
Have a great weekend, Luv Von.

I hope you can forgive me ;D
I knew you'd understand about running off because I know you don't always want to follow the teachers instructions either.
I've been today and was nearly put on detention. Far too many giggles!
I can thankfully report the fog has lifted for the last few days although maybe I should whisper that... just in case it decides to come back!
I hope your weekend was a good one and that this week is a winner.

ps. the wood pile is not ours - we live in the center of the city :), it's our friend's...
ps.ps. this week was soooo exciting with Scotland's decision....interesting to see how nations situation will change in a future...but for now you can all relax! (we too!)
    Happy weekend!

    1. I started to draw the horse during my art class last Tuesday and then I had a session at home of about an hour (max) undisturbed, but haven't touched it since.
I need to revisit and to try to finish him.
Maybe sometime in this coming week ;D
Thanks for stopping by and I'm sorry I've taken so long to reply to your comment.

  14. Isn't it wonderful when something good" appears on your paper - after hours of work! Your drawing is terrific.
Quite a few people woke up at 5 a.m., including me, to check out the results - maybe a trumpet was blown or something? It's been a roller coaster last few months (or years).
This mist finally left Edinburgh today after a week.
    Happy PPSaturday.

I also haven't done any more on my sketch but I've started another design which I've posted for this weeks PPF.
I'll have to set my alarm for 5am so that I can find some time to finish them.
We've had such great weather this week so I've tried to make the most of it.
Hopefully it'll last for a while longer.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I've been drawing a new design for this weeks PPF though, so I hope to work on both... and finish them.
