Serious thoughts... and Flutterby's

I have to confess that this morning I've been having thoughts... serious thoughts about thermals, awakening Aga's, cosy corners tucked up with a good book, and Duvet days.
(Dunna days... for my Australian friends)
This has highlighted that I've taken far too long to finish my tribute to my summer drawing...
last summer's tribute.
At this rate, my tribute will be relevant for next summer and not the one that has just left us.

I managed to sneak a drawing session whilst football was on the TV mid week, but I had to use a desk lamp. I've not used one before as I prefer to use daylight, but needs must and all that...
but I'm a convert now.
It's not too good on my eyes, especially with my intricate ink drawings, but at least I can get an hour or two extra drawing time in before the blurriness begins.

So here's the latest update on the butterfly.
I know I'm sorry... I thought I'd have the finished drawing to show you today but there you go...
I apologise for the bad photograph, but it's the best I could do in the light that's available this morning.
I even used a lamp too.
The winds blowing a hoolie outside, so with the fire roaring I think I'll head back to summer and finish off the butterfly this morning.
Because it's Friday, I'm linking up with Eva and Kristin's Paint Party Friday blog... thanks you guys for hosting this great party link.
Hey if you like to party too, why not head over there by clicking here.

I know that I've still got lots of peeps to visit this week, but I'll try to pop by soon.
In the meantime... woohoo it's Friday so ENJOY!

Thanks for your patience over the butterfly. I do relax and go into the zone when I do this kind of art. It's a great escape... not that I need to escape other than from the ironing!

Now that would be a nice way to spend the day.
I hope you enjoy your weekend no matter what you have planned.

    1. Well it's finished now Rita, so I hope there's a wow factor. If you want to take a peek then it's posted on the end of this post as a 'hot off the press' release.
I'll start on the colour design one next. Today would be perfect day to start it because it's so dark and rainy. I won't be getting up to much so why not?
I had to laugh at your comment about the 'hoolie'
It's a well used term here in Scotland and seems to sum up a blustery/windy/gale type of day perfectly.
I smile at the thought of you nattering and adding it into your conversation ;D
You could set up a whole new trend.
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by once again

    1. The final design is much better because I scanned it. I think it's going to get far worse for lighting to take photographs. Take for instance today... it started raining last night and hasn't stopped yet. I think it's on for the day.
I think I'll just give in to hunkering down and getting cosy. I might even start my colour butterfly design today with the aid of a lamp obviously ;D
Have a great weekend whatever you get up to... have fun

    1. Oh I'd much rather a spring hoolie Sharon, than an autumn one. I suppose I should be grateful that it will blow all of the fallen leaves out of my garden unaided... but then it's making the autumnal display very short.
Just rain today for us though... so not much happening.

  14. These kinds of things must take hou..........rs, so don't be sorry it's not done. You're a busy bee and you can only fit so much beauty creation into one day ;) I'm curious, do you pencl sketch the patterns first or just go for it?
It's chilly over here by the coast and my heating is on, AND the nights are drawing in, altho' I do enjoy the cosinessness. I have two daylight bulbs, one in the kitchen where I work and one in the lounge for when I want to chill and doodle at the same time. I love the difference they have made to my choice of colours and with my foray into the use of shading on my 'faces'. I hoping they will help with any symptoms of SAD in the Winter too.
Off to visit some more blog-pals, so I'll catch you later :o) (hugs) xo

    1. Well I'm happy to report that the butterfly has finally been completed ;D
In answer to your question I do a little of both... a few pencil lines first to get the shape and symmetry right and then I wing it! Going freehand and where ever the pen takes me ;D
I think I may have to invest in those bulbs throughout the house. It started raining last night and hasn't stopped since. It's sooooooooo dark here. I have a lamp that might help me start working on my colour butterfly design. Well I can't go out or garden, so it's hunker down, light the fire and settle down for the day.
Thanks for visiting me once again... enjoy PPF and your blog-pals,
Have a wonderful weekend too ((hugs to you))

I so totally owe both you and Trace a letter. Will get to that soon. But until then, gorgeous flutterbye. I always did wonder if the person who named them said just that and someone wrote butterfly by mistake. ;o)
We're feeling exactly the same as you here in Canada. SOOOOO nice to have that cozy weather back. I'm guessing as this is still new to you from Aussie land, you're feeling a little chilled. GO find a good jumper, make a cuppa, grab the mutt, put a jumper on her too and climb under a good soft blankie with a fabulously trashy novel. there, doesn't that feel better? Jenn knows best. 30. Your butterfly is beautiful - will you add any color at the end? It does take time to make an intricate drawing - not the same as a quick sketch. Can't wait to see it done (you might try one of those daylight lamps for night work. Much better than a regular desk lamp)

      (It's in my blog somewhere)
In answer to your question about moving the paper... yes I do constantly turn the paper. I don't know if others do that, but it works better for me. Otherwise, I'd be swiveling around the table to get the right angles! ;D
I noticed the dark mornings are coming in quick and fast, so I'm going to look into buying a day lamp. My daughter also has a day light alarm clock, which I like the sound of. It slowly lightens the room over a period of time. A lovely gentle way to wake instead of a bright electrical shock to the eyes, when turning on the bedside lamp.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a great comment... I hope you enjoyed your weekend and that your week ahead is full of creativity!
