To say I'm thrilled this morning is an understatement for a number of reasons.
Yes, the sun is shining, it's Friday and I've started a sketch, but that's not why I'm ecstatic.
Firstly, a trivial thing but that depends on what your priorities are.
What woman carrys a bag just for her hubby keys, wallet, phone etc?
Yes, I thought it wasn't just me.
There have been times when I haven't even needed a bag, but had to take one in order to carry hubby's stuff.
But now here's the revelation... my son has just left the house using his own bag.
After numerous sniggering remarks from Dad (as they do) my son announced it's actually called a flight bag.
It's just big enough for a guys essentials.
(by the way my son is a butch, a man's man so don't get any different ideas here... young cool dudes are using these... really)
It's not feminine in any way... in fact it looks really cool, but maybe that's because my son's wearing it and not my hubby. It's okay hubby doesn't read my blog... or so he says.
Heaven help me if my hubby actually decides to use one.
I'll probably die laughing or from embarrassment!
I'm willing to carry on taking a bag just to carry for him if that was to save the embarrassment!
(I haven't taken a photo because I know my son would object profusely)
Anyway, on to the real exciting bit...
I'm joining another art class but this one I can do in my Pj's!!!
How cool is that?
I'm joining Tracey Fletcher King's class which is starting in June.
WOOHOO!
I've been a fan of Tracey and her art since I first met her a few years ago.
I think the best thing for you to do if you'd like to know more and have a giggle (she writes hilarious blog post by the way) is to visit her blog yourself... click here
There's even a chance to see Tracey in a video clip plus watching her work.
I've never seen carrots looking so brilliant (hehe)
So, in honour of Tracey and her forthcoming class...
I decided to join in today with a sketch at the Paint Party Friday.
Like me Tracey is a teapot, so I thought it quite appropriate to draw a box of teabags!
As you can see from my desk below I'm even having a tasting session as I draw.
The boss (Muffy) is watching over me just to keep me right until I have Tracey at my side.
(I don't want anyone reporting me to RSPP (for plants) for the terrible state of my orchid. I have three but this one is struggling...well okay it's dead... but I never give in. I still have hopes that I can bring it back to life)
Here's a photo below from a slightly different angle.
If you look through the window you might be able to see the seven (yes seven) doves that visit me every day. I used to have three and then they increased to five, but seven is getting a little much with the amount of bird seed that I go through.
(Oh yes and Muffy does need a trip to the groomers... but it's been really chilly here.
There's been a really cold wind passing through for the last three weeks.
Hopefully it'll move on soon and we can get our temperatures up in the 20's (Celsius)
Here's my WIP but I hope to splash some paint around this afternoon if all goes to plan and I'm left alone.
It would be great if you could join me in class... I'm so excited.
I may even buy new Pj's!
Here's the link to go Tracey's Delicious Paint
I've promised Tracey that I'll be on my best behaviour and not be on detention in the first lesson... but who knows? We shall have to see.
There are other classes being taken by talented artists in Community Thrive.
Anyway, I'll never get to that painting session if I don't hurry up and link into
Have fun everyone... enjoy your weekend and I hope to see you soon.

Hot off the press... after this afternoon's painting session
I can't quite understand how the box shape can look like this as the real painting doesn't have those angles. It must be the angle that I've taken of the piece.
I'll be sure to post the final painting when it's completed.
Hahaha! I swear, you and Tracey could do a double act and become the most famous comedic female duo since French & Saunders. AND we'd all support the PJ wearing on stage. I mean, have you seen the gorgeous 'lounge pants' one can buy these days?!
ReplyDeleteI have been praying for Tracey to do classes since I 'met' her too, and now she's got one for me (yes me), haha, I'm swamped!! :( So sad. I am praying now that she runs it again and I will be free to join in. However, I'm relying on you to keep me upto date with photo's of what you create. You will be awesome I have no doubt; your tea bag box is looking brilliant already.
Wishing you a dry weekend and some sun if it decides to show face, TTFN xxx
Can I ask which one I'd be Twinkle Toes... French or Saunders? Mind due I love them both so that's okay. Lounge pants are my new staple in my wardrobe sweetie ;D
DeleteAhh... it's a shame that you can't join the class... but we might be a disrupting influence if put together. I've promised Tracey that I will behave!
I've managed to sneak into the art studio and added some paint onto the sketch.
Just celebrating with a cuppa in it's honour.
It's busy raining at the moment... ho hum... when will the sun come???
Cold wind still hanging around too.
Have a great weekend whatever the weather... xoxo
You are definitely Saunders... Small and round is me all the way so I am totally French... Not to mention I have never met a puddle I haven't jumped in... Do you remeber that episode on vicar of Disney... Comedy genius right there
DeleteLove your sketch of Twinings. Keep that orchid and water it once a week or so and you might have a surprise. They are tougher than we give them credit for. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteWell I've brought the other two orchids back from the dead Susan so I'm hoping I can do the same with this poor specimen. One is about to burst into flower too.
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend... Happy PPF to you
Love your sketch. I am thinking of the same class-it sounds like fun and I love Tracey's work. Can't wait to see your finished Twining's box and would love to see a photo of your son's flight bag. My hubby needs one of those! Have a great weekend-enjoy your sun.
ReplyDeleteOh it would be lovely for you to join the class Erika, it certainly sounds fun and I know Tracey will be amazing. I'm bound to learn so much. I love her style too.
DeleteI've added some more paint onto the box if you'd like to nip back to take a peek.
It was a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon.
I'll try to get a photo of the flight bag and send it to you.
Have a great weekend too... not sure we'll see the sun though.
Have fun with your course and have a good weekend, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt sounds great and no doubt there will be some fun too.
DeleteI hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs back to you... happy PPF
Nice sketch! And yes, as Susan has suggested, orchids are tough, resilient and so generous when they know they're loved! Merry creating!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose,
DeleteOh my orchids have been loved for sure. I've managed to bring two back to life already and one of those is about to burst into flower.
I just need to give this poor specimen more TLC so it knows I care.
Have a great weekend with lots of creativity.
Lovely start to the painting. Look forward to seeing how you progress in the class work. ;) Sadly, the window glare preventing my seeing the doves.:( Doesn't miz mcmuffyget a cuppa to enjoy while you're sketching? ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are doing everything right to be teachers pet which is a good thing as you might need to be in credit before you start stirring lol... As to the tea packet... Looking pretty cool and we will painting those things up in the third lesson so you are ahead of the class already... It is exciting isn't it... I can't wait
ReplyDeleteIt sure is exciting and I promise I'll be very studious 😇
DeleteI know I'm going to learn so much but also have a fun time too... what more could you want?
Have a wonderful weekend xoxo
I thought Tracey's class had your name written all over it, We will look forward to seeing your King veggies! Good luck with your orchid, if anyone can bring back from the dead you can!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Wren x
King veggies I like the sound of that Wren,
DeleteI think I might need a little more than just luck for that orchids... it's very sick.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too xoxo
You are inspiring me to get back to sketching and get out the water colors.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful Jo... I find inspiration every time I go online.
DeleteIt's a fantastic forum for creativity.
I'll look forward to visiting your place and seeing what you've got up to. Maybe a sketch or two???
Have a wonderful weekend too
you have the most beautiful space to paint and I love your companion,,
ReplyDeletethe painting is beautiful! The painting course sounds like so much fun!!
I know how lucky I am Laurie and therefore I feel I should make the most of it.
DeleteThanks for your lovely comment and I'll be sure to let you see the finished painting. I can't imagine doing it using fingers and a sock though ;D
Have a wonderful weekend doing whatever you please... enjoy!
Fab art work and loving your work desk/companion. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare... yeah there's no show without punch! She's always there in the mix ^..^
DeleteHave a great weekend and Happy PPF to you too
Love your teabox painting. I've joined that class as well and am so much looking forward to it. See you there. :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo Laila good for you. I can't wait because I know it's going to be fantastic.
DeleteSee you there ;D
You and Tracey are so wildly similar I can see you being fast friends! She even had a little white dog with an M name too! And you are both incredibly funny too! Enjoy the class..Tracey is top notch all the way! Nice apple for teacher with the tea illustration! Lol
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
I think we might be there already Giggles,
DeleteI feel highly honoured to call Tracey my friend. I know all about Mushu and think about him quite a lot especially if Muffy is annoying me. I just think how lucky I am to have her around me.
I'm very excited about the class because I know I'll learn so much plus Tracey will
make it fun.
The tea illustration is coming along quite nicely so I hope a get a gold star from the teacher ;D
Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for your lovely comment.
Hugs back to you
I'm hoping Tracey will run the class again or have another one this winter. I'm going to be moving Aug 1st and don't have the time or money for classes till after I am settled into the new place. You will have such fun!! I am so glad to have "met" you both! :) :)
ReplyDeleteI'll try not to be too disruptive and put her off doing the classes Rita and that way she might do more.
DeleteI'm so thrilled to hear that you are moving because I remember how much you wanted to. It'll be full on up to and beyond August, but I'll nip across and see what you and Karma are up to.
I'm glad that our paths have crossed too ;D
Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you soon.
Ha ha I thought orchids were easy to take care of although I have never tried! I love Muffy and thinks he looks cute just the way he is. Loving your tea are and excited you will be going online with Tracey. HappyPPF
ReplyDeleteWell yes and no,
DeleteIt depends if you neglect them enough. The one that is suffering the most was kept in spare room that was quite cold over winter... anyway I'm remaining hopeful but we'll see.
Muffy is having difficulty seeing out from under her fringe at the moment so it's either a trip to the groomers (still rather chilly here for a clip) or I can try to trim around her face. That'll be fun ^..^
Looking forward to the classes.
Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment... Happy PPF to you too
Ohh we are SO on Neesie! It's gonna be a blast, I can hardly wait until June. Thanks for the birthday wishes, I'm having a lovely day. We're doing baby back ribs for dinner, woo hop!! (I did buy some brushes, BTW, they're speeding their way to me as we speak!! I LOVE shopping.) hugs.
ReplyDeleteHehe... it's going to be brilliant but I've made a promise to behave :/
DeleteI'm glad you had a lovely birthday and enjoyed your shopping.
I've not got my shopping list sorted yet. I don't think I need much but you know once you start!
Hugs back to you and I hope you're having a fantastic week too xoxo
Here the flight bag is called "man purse" or "field bag"... my hubby just got one since he has added to his "handful of things" to carry some reading glasses, and my handy bag and I are inconveniently not to be found when he needs to read the fine print on odds and ends. Not to mention, my intentionally tiny bag is already brimming with all his stuff and the rocks, lizard tails and other living and non-living treasure my offspring absolutely just have to keep. So fieldbag for him it is. He was rather self-conscious at first, but so many men have commented on it , indicating their own need for one, that he now wears it with pride. And like you, my bag ( and shoulder) is sighing a sigh of relief:-) Enjoy Trace's class! What fun! One day, when I have cleared my bag from the boy- collected roach legs and snake skins (yip, really!) I will join you all.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very talented - I only wish I had half your talented!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
What a fun class. I love her work too. I've seen men with bags and they are so comfortable in their own skin, that it looks quite natural. No one thinks anything about it anymore. . .at least not here. Muffy is adorable. My first date (after a hundred years) the guy asked me to carry the stuff and I had a small enough bag then b/c it was a Halloween costume party (he had no pockets). . .I just met him. Afterward I could wait to get away and took his wallet with me. I had to go back to his place after church the next morning and take it to him. OMGosh. Blessings, Janet PPF
