My Sunday Photo... swallow

(Experimenting with this photo... loading from my kindle. Hence no usual frame as I haven't worked out how to do that yet)

Look what flew right into our house.
It's the first time it's been warm enough to leave the garden door open... and this is what happened.
We have many swallows swooping around the house and even have a couple beginning to nest in our woodshed.
I don't know who was more in a flap... me or him... to get out of the house.
Thankfully, my hubby gentle got hold of him and we released him back outside.
I'm linking up as usual to

Have a great Sunday everyone.
Happy Bank Holiday

    1. Me too... and I loved it. I didn't realise they were so colourful.
He appeared to be fine when he took off in the garden. We have quite a few swallows flying around so I can't say it's him but I think he's probably in the group... boring them all with his adventure into the house!
Have a great week ahead and thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.

    1. I'm not so sure it would have been so safe if we'd followed my plan of flapping with all windows and doors open to try to guide him back outdoors.
Thankfully my hubby had a better plan and just gently scooped him up and walked him out to the garden. I didn't realise he could be such a hero!
I had to stop him mid track on the way though, just to capture a quick pic. I couldn't let that opportunity go without capturing him on camera.
I was amazed how handsome he was... (I mean the bird and not the hubby... but I suppose he's not bad either!)
Have a great week whatever you have planned.

  3. Lovely capture. I would have been flapping and screaming like crazy if one flew into ours. Good job your husband was there to capture, hold it for the impromtu photoshoot before releasing back into the open. #MySundayPhoto

    1. Yep he was the hero of the day... and didn't let us forget it! lol
I just didn't want him to get hurt as he flung himself at the window. It was great to see him zoom off to join his mates... probably boring them with tales of his adventures.

    2. lol :-) What a tale he'll tell them :-)

Thanks for checking out #MySundayPhoto :-)

  4. Oops guess that wasn't a short cut to the front of the house. :0) happily neither feathered friend nor mistress of the house were injured during the mishap. ;) Hugs

    1. Not unless you can crash through three closed doors on the way Nan :/
They have been flying around the house and having great fun negotiating going in and out of the woodshed... through the open doorway and windows so I suppose it was an easy mistake to come into the lounge.
Miss Muffy was oblivious to all the shenanigans as usual.
Hugs back to you... have a great week

    1. Hasn't he just... especially when my hubby was showing him to our dog. Wow... he will get miles and miles out of that part of the tale.
(Have to clarify our dog didn't really even notice him, but the other swallows don't need to know that)
      Poetic licence and all that!

    1. Thanks for the lovely comment.
I wouldn't have wanted him harmed but it was great to have the opportunity to see him up close. Just amazing. We enjoy their aerobatic display as they speed around the house, garden and field but I never thought I'd see one that close up.
I hope you had a great weekend and the following week is just as good.

Great to see you... I hope you're enjoying the Bank Holiday.

    1. Wasn't it just... not sure about the photo because I was being told... "be quick... quick he might have a heart attack"!!!
Not the best when you want to take a good shot but at least I got something.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my place.

  9. Awww, I'm so glad 'you' caught him safely and got it back outside. I love to watch the swallows swooping around, tho' it's a rarity around here. I do envy you your location.
Well done loading the photo from your kindle; I#ve given up on my Hudl, it's just too small, lol.
I see you have the same weather as us today; a bit of sun, a bit of cloud and enough wind for the sheets. Have a good one {{Hugs}} xox

    1. Yes we've got quite a few swooping and showing us their aerial skills... so much so that if we are in and around the woodshed and trees we have to dug and dive as they flash past. I'm beginning to think they are playing with us. "hey let's see how near we can get to them"
I'm getting bored with this weather though... it's been the same for about three weeks. That chilly breeze needs to move on!
I hope you're having a great Monday and the rest of the week will be even better.
      Have fun!

    1. I think I may have been in a little bit of a flap Darren,
then cool hand hubby came in and just scooped him up and released him in the garden. The way he flew off I think he wasn't in the least bit bothered about his little detour!
Thanks for hosting once again and I hope you're enjoy the Bank Holiday.

    1. I didn't catch him... my hubby did.
Apparently when he was very young he kept a few pigeon's! Who knew???
So he knew how to hold and not injure the bird.
I was just busy flapping... not very efficient it has to be said!
Have a great week and enjoy the Bank Holiday

    1. I was amazed how quickly he came flying in, because I'd only just opened the door wide and walked back to the kitchen and he was in with me.
He was desperately trying to get through the closed window, but thankfully my hubby was pretty quick coming to my shouts of 'help'! before he got injured.
I was thrilled that he wasn't hurt and that I had a chance to take a close up of him.
We have lots flying around here, but they are so quick or high up there hasn't been any chance to see them this close before this.
I need a good zoom lens!

  14. beautiful bird, but yes terrifying, we had a blackbird pop through our kitchen window once, was traumatic but he got out thankfully!

    1. Eek... a blackbird isn't as agile as the swallow, so it's good to hear he wasn't injured and managed to get out again.

    1. I know we're very lucky Caz... but I didn't think they'd literally visit us by diving in to the lounge and kitchen!
The photo doesn't show just how colourful they are. It was kind of him to help with my Sunday photo though as before he appeared I hadn't a clue what I was going to post!
Have a great week and I hope you're having an enjoyable Bank Holiday.

    2. Yes, they don't actually need to come in. Very weirdly, we had a great tit fly into the house today, and got a similar photo.

    3. Well isn't that a coincidence 😉
Like our visitor I hope your bird had a happy release too

  16. that is a wonderful photo. poor bird- it must have been so scared. we often have birds fly in to our house. they get confused with the big mirror in the dining room reflecting the outside so they smash into it and stun themselves.!

    1. We're often having them fly into the windows Sherry, but it's the first time one has come in through the door! But there again it hasn't been warm enough to have the door open much so far this year.
Stunned birds are the norm here...especially if the sparrowhawk comes to visit. Mayhem ensues and there's feathers flying everywhere.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and the week is even better.

  17. Wow, to have a swallow close enough to fly into your house must be awesome, but shame they actually come in (I imagine it then struggles to get out - Odd as they can fly through tiny gaps, I guess the fear kicks in).

    1. You could be right Ashley,
I'm amazed at their aerobics and how they maneuver in and around our place. This one just didn't seem to understand that the window was shut and he couldn't fly through. Lesson to be learnt I think, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again.
We have quite a few here. It's fantastic to have them.

    1. Well yes, but he was bashing himself up against the window so I think they're tougher than they look.
I'm just happy we were able to release him unharmed to his pals.
He's probably boring them with his tale of being captured in the big house, the dog having a sniff at him...jaw extremely close, being photographed by the paparazzi like a famous stunt bird and then thankfully the great outdoors once again.
Have a great week and hopefully the weather will be good.

  19. So far we have had one swallow in the front room - but expect more through the summer ... oh and we had to rescue a sparrow who fell down the chimney and got stuck in the woodburner! Please do add your Swallow's Tale to #AnimalTales if you want.

  20. I love that swallow's expression it was a "I only popped out for a quick worm and now look what happened... my wife's going to kill me" sort of a look.
Sorry bit slow getting here this week!
