Hey... look who's in my studio today - Tracey Fletcher King!
How lucky am I?
Many of you might know Tracey and her amazing artwork already, but I thought I'd share what's been happening over the last month or so, as part of What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday (WOYWW)
I enrolled for Tracey's online classes called 'Delicious Paint' over at Community Thrive.
If you look at the photo below, you will see Tracey's smiling back at you plus the little watercolour booklet that she helped me create.
I have to say I'm thrilled with it.
I have to say I'm thrilled with it.
As I hoped the classes have been almost sheer delight... I say almost because the idea is to loosen up and that's always nerve wrecking for me.
The classes were fun, informative and with Tracey's relaxed sense of humour and fantastic guidance
a great way to take in your 'daily five'.
There were no excuses for difficulty to access subject matter, because Tracey asked us to draw everyday objects and products. So, I like my fellow students I raided my fridge crisper drawer.
I had to laugh to myself when I lined up the pear swatch onto the back page of the booklet.
Do you see a huge behind?
A big Butt?
Bahookie?
A big Butt?
Bahookie?
Whatever you want to call it... I thought it was appropriate for the end of the booklet.
(yes I know small things and all that...)

I must admit, I no longer look at fresh produce in the same way...
so much so that I'm sure that I'm on my local Supermarket security radar.
so much so that I'm sure that I'm on my local Supermarket security radar.
"Dodgy woman stalking the strawberries in aisle two!"
I must admit I spend far too much time ogling and handling the fruit and veg now.
As far as I can see there's only been one disappointment throughout the whole experience...
and that is that I've learnt Tracey loves sprouts!

Seriously!

In the meantime, I'm going to carry on watching the tennis at Wimbledon.
I've been writing this post and watching... multi-tasking to the max.
Have fun this Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.
I hope to natter again soon.
Your fruit and veggies look great. Those blueberries do look good. I love sprouts. When my DH was away working I often had a big bowl of them for dinner. Noticed we have the same radio as in your picture. Have a lovely week. Barb#16 xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb for your lovely comment, well all except the bit about the sprouts. Seriously... a whole bowl to yourself? (yuk)
DeleteIt's actually my son's radio but it's sort of migrated to my room ;D
Enjoy WOYWW and I'll pop over to your desk soon
Brilliant fruit and veg, Neesie, and I can see the bahookie! Sprouts are okay, as long as there just a few on my plate :) Been watching/listening to the tennis. Glad to see Andy is through, but Pospisil put up a great fight making it a good match to watch. Have a great week, Elizabeth x #36
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, thanks very much. It was so much fun to make.
DeleteI'm not convinced about the sprouts though. I cook them but that's as near as I'll go.
I've been avidly watching Wimbledon and I'm thrilled Andy is playing so well this year. Obviously marriage suits him ;D
I hope you have a great week with lots of creativity.
Gorgeous veg painting x Soojay 13#
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue... I'm pleased with how the booklet came out.
DeleteBrilliant fruity artwork Neesie - I can see you have enjoyed every minute! x Jo
ReplyDeleteI did indeed enjoy it Twiglet.
DeleteIt was really great fun and I really recommend the classes if Tracey repeats them.
Thanks for visiting my desk... Happy WOYWW to you
Great pieces! FYI.. I like sprouts, too ;-) Love how our art opens our eyes to things we took as ordinary. Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #41
ReplyDeleteEew... all the sprout lovers are visiting Kelly... I've yet to hear from a sprout hater!
DeleteSince I started creating art I look at everything differently now. Art is certainly an eye opener (if you forgive the pun)
Have a great creative week and thanks for visiting my desk.
Your paintings are delicious, even the naked pear!
ReplyDeleteHehe... thanks for your lovely comment and I'm glad that you like my bahookie (cough) sorry I mean pear!
DeleteHappy WOYWW to you
your booklet looks beautiful Neesie, such a great job. The colors are so vibrant and that banana looks fabulous. I'm awaiting an appointment today, someone popping in when they can but it really throws my whole day into wait, wait, wait. I just want to paint, not wait but it's always my luck, the minute I start something, it'll be DING, doorbell, they're here. Sigh. For me it's always that way, every time I have to go to the bathroom, the phone rings. Yup, just that kind of luck, too much information too. Hehehehe. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks Jenn, I was a little unsure as to what I would do with that banana... it was quite a size to the rest of the booklet, so it had to stretch over two pages.
DeleteI know what you mean about being disturbed when you want to paint. There's always something or someone disturbing me here. I really feel like I've won the lottery if I manage to hide away and paint something.
Hugs back to you and a tip... take the batteries out of the doorbell ;D
Your drawings look good enough to eat! Great job.
ReplyDeleteApril #50
Thanks for your lovely comment April
DeleteIt was great fun and yes then I got to eat the subject!
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you have planned.
I defend my right to like sprouts because cooked right they are bloody beautiful... Cut nice and fine and braised in a bit of wine with some leeks and pancetta and lots of thyme and they are crazy delicious... Not when they are like little bullets or mushy green grey blobs... You have to be very specific in how you cook them... Anyway enough sprouting on... Thanks for the awesome post and I adore your ur book as I have managed to say in many different ways on differnt forums... In fact I am running out of superlatives so I will just say you are bloody special and a joy to teach!
ReplyDeleteAww now the cats out of the bag eh? Cooked in wine... well that adds a whole new dimension. I'll have to open the win bottle and have a few good swigs first and then perhaps I'll manage to eat one. I'm not promising mind :/
DeleteMy Mum used to boil them for hours and I think that's where it all went wrong. My hubby says they taste nothing like they used to back in the day. I tend to just cook mine in a skillet with butter, lardons and sometimes a few pine nuts with black cracked pepper.
Thank you for all your responses across all of my entries on the social media forums. I think you caught them all... bless you.
I know a few people that say I'm special but not in the same way you do Trace ;D
I can't tell you enough just how much I enjoyed your classes and video.
I'll certainly keep using all of your techniques and tips... plus if you do any more classes in the future... I'll be at the front of the queue on enrollment day!
It's lovely to feel like that we have finally met.
Have a wonderful weekend xoxo
Wonderful job on the veges and lovely comment from TFK. She is a wonderful teacher, but I could not loosen up and go over anything with the black ink :(
ReplyDeletesandra de @32
Oh sandra de, that's the best part. I love to outline in black ink. In fact, if I don't outline then I always feel that I haven't finish the painting. I suppose it's good that we all think differently about what needs or doesn't need to be done. That's what makes art so brilliant. Everyone has different ideas and styles.
DeleteHave a brilliant creative weekend and thanks for visiting my place.
I love all your gorgeous fruits and veges! What an amusing post! (I like sprouts, too!)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #42
Not another one Shoshi, well I'm still not convinced on the sprout front.
DeleteI'm glad you found my post amusing... it's always good to get positive feedback.
Have a great weekend... sprouts an all ;D
Lovely booklet. I'm afraid I always just eat my fruit and veggies these days. Valerie
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I usually do Valerie-Jael but I thought I'd give this class a try and it's certainly helped me loosen up a little. Not as much as I'd like but I'll keep trying.
DeleteHave a great week and sorry about the delay in my reply.
I love seeing Tracey's smiling face on your blog! it looks like you had a great time on the workshop and getting to eat all the models after you paint them as part of your five a day is a bonus!! I love sprouts too - why do folk only ever eat them at Christmas? cooked with chestnuts chopped through and a wee bit of garlic - yum!!!
ReplyDeleteI love having her there too Nic,
DeleteIt was fantastic to play the video whilst working away. She's so encouraging and she made me giggle on numerous occasions.
Oh no you're another sprout lover... well apparently my hubby says they've changed. They are no longer bitter etc. We only used to eat them at Christmas but now he often brings some in... but I have to confess I won't be indulging no matter how sweet he says they are.
I tell him it's the way I cook them makes them so good... not like boiling they're bums off like in the old days... and I think I may have got away with it so far.
Hope your hand is recovering... I'm playing catch up after being away but I hope to visit soon. In the meantime enjoy creating.. that is if the hand allows!
Wonderful little watercolor booklet. Your painting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Faye,
DeleteI really enjoyed the video's, classes, tips and techniques all delivered in Tracey's amusing lighthearted manner.
I'm thinking that I might make another booklet when I can.
Have a great creative week.
Great post, Nessie. I love the raised relief of your veggies in your book and the pear "behind" on the back cover! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt's something that I would never have thought to do Gloria so that made it even more interesting.
DeleteThanks for visiting and I hope you have a great week too.
you did a brilliant job with Tracey's class- I love all your illustrations-even the "end" of the book:):)
ReplyDeleteHehe... it was so much fun and I suppose that's the most important thing.
DeleteI'd never have created anything like this without Tracey's class... so that was fun.
Have a great week and thanks for your visit
Proof you are sisters from another mister! Love your bum pear! You are crazy fun, I love reading you and Tracey! Both genius in your talent! This book is so fun thanks for sharing your amazing fun self with personality plus! Love every stroke of the brush and click of the key you produce!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
HAHAHA!!! What a giggle Giggles,
DeleteHave to say my bum... pear has been very popular.
When I read this amazing comment (so long ago now...sorry I've been away) it warmed my heart. I had to tell everyone what you'd written. I was feeling in a slump with blog creativity but your words brought me right back!
I don't think I've read a nicer one. Thank you so much... you have no idea what your words mean to me.
Now enough of this drivel (sorry I couldn't resist) I need to catch up with everything so that I can get back to blogging and painting.
Bless you and I wish you a fantastic week and weekend ahead.
Great book and art work. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comment Clare,
DeleteI had fun and at the end produced something that I'd never have thought of which was a great bonus.
Happy PPF to you
You did great in the class. What fun. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet. But the class was fantastic and so much fun it was easy to 'just have a go' to quote Tracey.
DeleteI smile every time I look at that little booklet.
Have a great week and maybe I'll see you on PPF again soon.
