Sometimes I have to admit that I do not want to watch Muffy in the garden in the evening, doing her 'biz', especially if I'm watching something interesting, or I'm too comfy lounging on the sofa.
But at times you can be rewarded for doing the right thing.
This is exactly what happened last night.
Reluctantly, I dragged myself into the garden.
It was quite late, but summer evenings here in the North of Scotland can be pretty spectacular... staying light until nearly midnight.
Once we stepped out into the garden... I had to rush back in to grab my camera.
I would normally take photographs of the sunsets facing the fields at the rear of our property, but this view just grabbed my attention.
What made it more dramatic was the dark rain clouds and the appearance of a beautiful rainbow.
Very often after a rainy day here, the clouds can part and we are rewarded with a glorious sunset.
It's too late in the day to make the most of it... so we just have to look and appreciate it.
In my case, I snap hundreds of photo's.
I just can't resist!
I don't normally show the house, but the light and rainbow was too good and I wanted to share it with you.
I hope you can enjoy a spectacular sunset or a beautiful rainbow soon.
Thank you for popping over to my place.
Have a great week... enjoy!

Why not take a peek... they'd love to see you over there)

You sure were in the right place at the right time! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWasn't I just... and there I was moaning at Mufftypup for disturbing me. I'd have completely missed this stunning scene if she hadn't needed to go outside.
Deletewonderful!
ReplyDeleteHehe...Thanks Klara... I just happened to observe and snap the shot!
DeleteWow! I thought the garden pic was gorgeous but the one of the house in that fantastic light...wow! Don't 'cha love Mother Nature and her spectacular displays.
ReplyDeleteI sure do love Mother Nature Nan, although sometimes she can be a little moody and show just how powerful she can be if crossed.
DeleteGlad you liked the photo... and to think if Muffy hadn't have needed to go out into the garden, then I would have missed it.
Now that's a house with character! The trees! Those are some gigantic trees--just magnificent! And who doesn't love a rainbow. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore this house Rita. I had to leave it for our stay in the Middle East and Australia and I loved everywhere we lived, but I really missed this place so much. Those trees are both amazing and a pain. Thankfully the amount of pleasure just outweighs the pain of picking up the autumn leaves in Autumn and the spring seedlings falling!
DeleteThe rainbow was a complete surprise and I didn't expect to see it... which makes it all the more stunning.
Beautiful pics. Glad you broke your rule and showed your home with the amazing rainbow and lighting. I could get used to having light until almost midnight as long as I didn't have to get up in the morning!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kay
Oh hello Kay, great to see you.
DeleteWell it wouldn't have been a very good picture with just the treetops and rainbow if I'd have edited the house out of it. It's only a little of it's side view, so not too revealing.
It starts to get light at around 3ish so there's very little darkness at this time of year... but don't forget we have to suffer darkness from 3 in the afternoon during the winter months.
Ugh! Don't remind me.
As usual your pictures are breath taking. Especially enjoyed the picture that included the peonies. I can't believe you have light until midnight. That would be right up my alley, since I slept late and stay up late. Your gardens and home are wonderful. Love the ivy growing on your home. I have an arch over my front steps with ivy growing up and over. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAww Pam that is so kind of you to say. I just love to take photo's. In fact I think I might have a problem. I've got far too many.
DeleteThe light has started to disappear a little earlier now, especially if it's a cloudy or rainy day like today. Mid summer the light starts to return at 3ish which I think is a little too early for most people.
This view of the house is from the side. I love the ivy too, but we have to keep trimming it back as it reaches the chimneys and guttering. I've got wisteria, climbing hydrangea and Virginia Creeper on other walls. I think it adds to the character of the place. Even though they need maintaining.
so pretty, reminds me of gold :) the light outside is wonderful, even if its keeping me up to 3 in the morning lol
ReplyDeleteIt was like finding treasure Jennifer, because it was the last thing I thought I'd see when nipping outside with Muffy.
DeleteThe light was incredible and I'm just so happy that I managed to capture it because all too soon it had disappeared.
You need some of those Hollywood eye mask goggles to keep the light out... then you might be able to get a little more sleep.
a rainbow going straight to the sun. That´s what it seems like. Quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly got my attention and I rushed to get my camera. I just wanted to capture it.
Deleteohhhh beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly caught my eye Tanya
DeleteBeautiful pictures - I am pea green with envy - I want to live there -- I know I do and I know I would be perfectly happy. But you had to do a lot of work inside too didn't you ...
ReplyDeleteA magical home with a talented artist inside!
