Flowering Gorse

Whilst out walking this morning, I took a few photos that indicates that spring truly has arrived.
It was difficult to choose which photos to pick for My Sunday Photo.
I decided the Gorse flowers, these yellow beauties are bursting into life along the country lanes.
I hope you like them.
For overseas visitors Gorse is a large, evergreen shrub covered in needle-like leaves and distinctive, coconut-perfumed, yellow flowers during the spring and summer.
As usual I shall be linking up with Photalife

visit today and I hope to see you again soon.
Have a wonderful week.

    1. I've noticed ours flowers twice a year up here in Bonnie Scotland. Starting in Spring and then again in Autumn. I agree with you ... it is a wonderful sight.

    1. Such a pop of colour don't you think? It's normally the daffodil that indicates spring, but I thought I'd give this flower a little of the limelight today :D

    1. It is striking isn't it Tim? It's normally the yellow daffodil that gives all the spring vibes, but this gorse really caught my attention. It was a vibrant beautiful display all along the country lane.

    1. It seems that everything is waking up with week which is wonderful to see. Crocus, snowdrops, daffodils, heather, hyacinths, and even tree blossom. I think we have finally entered into spring.
The farmer is even ploughing the field next to our house and the geese have passed on their return flight.

  7. I don't think I've ever looked so closely at gorse flowers before. I love the way the buds look like they are covered in fine hairs. Such a beautiful vibrant yellow colour too :-)

    1. I think everything is a little different and far more involved when we take a seriously close look. I've found this out with my painting. I think something might be quite easy until I start then it's amazing how many colours can be involved. Yellow certainly shouts 'Spring' doesn't it?

    1. We certainly are popping with colour just now Nan, because the crocus are giving a glorious display too. Here in Aberdeenshire the public parks and grass verges are all planted with both crocus and daffodils. It's quite a spring show!

    1. Gorse is very widespread over the British countryside Carol... but I have to admit I took it rather for granted until I walked right past these flowers and took a closer look!

    1. They are a very British countryside plant Rita. A little like heather and hedgerows. Most of the time you don't even notice them until going in for a closer look... then they surprise you :D

  14. Oh yes Spring is definitely in the air - wonderful shots Neesie! Gorse is one of those plants that despite it's prickles you can help but love the mass of colour out on the moors etc.
    Have a great week

    1. Thanks Wren, we have lots around here, but I've never really looked that closely before. It was quite surprising just how complex it is. A lovely spring pop of colour to join the daffodils and crocus.
I hope you are having a great week too. Enjoy x

  15. Hehe... yep Jennifer. The gorse is a very common bush in the countryside and adds another pop of colour at this time of year.
