Terrifyingly yet another week has been and gone! ARHHH!
Yep...it's Wednesday again and time for WOYWW
(WOYWW stands for what's on your work desk for those of you
who haven't come across this term before)
Well that's the idea of Julia over at Stamping Ground so if you want to see more productive desks than mine then pop over and check them out ~ you could visit desks from all over the globe from the comfort of your own chair.
I'm sure you'll find lots to inspire you and there's going to be lots
of Christmassy ideas and creations!
I can't believe I'm showing my mess and lack of anything worthy of the word work!
There is an attempt to get festive if you look close enough?
But before you go ... check out my friends great Christmas Vodka Cake recipe below....
It's a big hit!
Christmas Vodka Cake
1 cup sugar,
1 cup sugar,
1 tsp. baking powder,
1
cup water,
1 tsp. salt,
1 cup brown sugar,
Lemon juice,
4 large eggs,
Nuts,
1
1 bottle Vodka,
2 cups dried fruit.
Sample a cup of Vodka to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Vodka
again to be sure it is of the highest quality then Repeat.
Turn on the electric
mixer.
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Beat again.
At this point, it is best to make sure the Vodka is still OK.
Try
another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 eegs and add to
the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the fruit up off the floor,
wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it.
Mix on the
turner.
If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with
a drewscriver.
Sample the Vodka to test for tonsisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of
salt, or something.
Check the Vodka.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your
nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink.
Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't
forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window.
Finish the Vodka and wipe the counter with the cat.
Enough of this frivolity...I must get on if I'm going to be ready for Santa arriving!
Thanks for stopping by...I really appreciate your time...
It's great to see you and I hope you're having a fantastic week whatever you're up to.
Catch up again soon
Hi there Neesie ah love Christmas so pleased it draws nearer but always have the sense of never having caught up on the to do list and as you say where does a week go! great banksia drawing I think it is on your desk! love Shaz in Oz.x (no number yet Julia's not on yet and it midday here :D)
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz,
DeleteWell we'll just have to chat away amongst ourselves then (without numbers) ;D
I am trying to do a Christmas card at the moment (robin on the desk) but it'll be next year by the time I finish it. I just seem to get so many other things fighting for my attention. Pressure is on when I think about posting things too...oh my....diddledeedee....diddledeedee
Nearly 1pm with me and still no numbers.
Thanks for stopping by....have a great week and I'll pop over soon :D
Oh I think the whishky one would be just perfik! Giggle!
ReplyDeleteThe studio is a perfect room it's just that I don't go in there enough.
I seriously need to reorganise my time. I just seem to be swimming up hill and getting nowhere.
Yep there's the calender on the desk which I was thinking about having in my Etsy shop and the Christmas creation is a festive robin.
Well it will be festive if I can finish him off in time. At this rate it might be by next Christmas.
I was thinking of asking everyone if they wouldn't mind delaying Christmas by a few weeks? Do you think they'll go for it? :D
so much fun stuff on your desk, love the robin, busy is good!I see you have an advert for the Water Tower Inn, thats in this city!I drive by that everyday!!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie,
DeleteRobbie isn't in his flashy Christmas waistcoat yet but hopefully by the end of today he might be ;D
Hmm...I've looked at my desk and can't see the Water Tower Inn?
You'll have to give me a clue? Howard Hughes could be living on my desk and I wouldn't know...I really must spend some more time there.
Have a great week and I'll pop over to you soon :D
xoxo
it was an advert in the box on the left of this page , the box says 'Adchoices" it was an advert for the Watertower Inn here in Sault Canada, do those adds change because its not there today,, now it says Cheap Office cubicles,
DeleteI'm such a numpty Laurie because as soon as I sent the note to you I realised it was the advert box in my sidebar.
DeleteIt does change regularly or in fact everytime you open the blog, but I didn't realise that it is different and relative to everyone's location.
I just assumed it was generic.
You learn something new every day! ;D
How are you today? Don't tell me I'll nip across xoxo
Oh, I think the recipe left out an important ingrediant...taking a nap due to excessive vodka checking! lol I'm not doing WOYWW this week, but am checking up on everyone! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteI thought it was missing something...like a good hangover cure recipe perhaps and a bottle of 'resolve' on hand ;D
DeleteI'm trying to get on with things but I have to keep checking if the numbers are up...it's like waiting for the lotto!
I'll have to come over and check what you're up to if you're not playing this week...there must be something keeping you away.
I'm such a sticky beak aren't I?
See you soon :D
xoxo
Well that gave me a giggle! Must be serious and dig out a "real" Christmas cake recipe shortly, if not sooner!
ReplyDeleteYep I'm thinking the same thing or maybe I'll just buy one (Gasp!)
DeleteSorted!!!! ;D
Thanks for popping over to my place...we seem to be managing without numbers...I'll come over to you shortly.
Have a great day :D
I'm "just up the road", in Sydney, the "beautiful city by the harbour" :)
DeleteI'm planning a quick stopover in Sydney on my way to Canada for Christmas, so I'll give you a quick wave :D
DeleteThat cake sounds great! ROFLMAO
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks great, much better than mine.
Happy WOYWW!
Tertia #5
LOL Hi Teria,
DeleteI could do with a slice of that cake right now actually after being in and out of here like a fiddlers elbow waiting for a number! ;D
I'll have to check your desk to see if I agree?
Be right over number 5! :D
Happy WOYWW to you too x
OMG Nessie! I was all set to try to make the vodka cake for something new and different for Thanksgiving dinner when it finally dawned on me it was a joke...Good one too!. Couldn't get the picture to enlarge so had trouble seeing your desk. I think google is acting up again. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Vickie #2
ReplyDeleteYou got me back Vickie because I've posted a reply to your comment and it's disappeared somewhere!??!?!
DeleteAlso been trying to send you an email but that's not working either...so shall we call it evens? ;D
Have a great WOYWW if we can actually do this with all this shinanagins!
Fingers crossed. :D
Pressing the reply button and holding my breath...here goes....

Lovely tidy desk there! I love that recipe too - might try it out myself later! Sunshine Girl - no. 37
ReplyDeleteHehe...glad you like both the desk and the recipe. ;D
DeleteI've been in the studio for a little time this afternoon but not nearly as much as I would have liked.
Thanks for popping over to my place.
Have a great time desk hopping and I'll see you later :D
Morning, great shot of your place this week. Julias posted later so us poor peeps hear in the UK have a chance at posting at a reasonable time. Got sidetracked by your slideshow on the side; LOVE the turtle! One day I may just have to get that, just not now as I need a car instead! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteNeil#34
Hi Neil,
DeleteYep the timing of today went all to pot as far as I'm concerned...I was in and out like a fiddlers elbow waiting for the post...so basically nothing much has been done over here today! ;D
I suppose it's only fair but I wish I'd have know in advance.
I'm thrilled that you liked my sideshow and especially the turtle. He is a new addition and very popular.
If you change your mind about the car just let me know and I'll send you a turtle ~ hehe :D
Enjoy WOYWW and I'll pop over to your place soon!
Hello there! Happy WOYWW! Lovely workdesk! Looks like you have some stuff all planned and raring to go! I am definitely going to have a go at that cake recipe...LOVE this WOYWW - Three blogs visited and two cookie recipes and one cake recipe already collected! xxx Laura #51
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
DeleteHmm...raring to go...oh I wish!
Maybe I need a portion of Christmas Vodka Cake for breakfast?
I'm becoming more and more in a panic as I just can't get this Christmas timing thing...it seems to me that it should only be September.
I've just come off my summer hols!!!
Anyway I suppose I better get on...oh don't I sound a humbug? :$
Happy WOYWW and I'm sure today will be more productive. Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;D
Wow busy desk but lots to see and lots of interest going on! Hope you are back into your routine after your amazing NZ trip. Take care Zo xx 59
ReplyDeleteHi Zo,
DeleteWell I suppose I am but I'd love to be more productive. I just can't seem to manage all I'd like to in one day!
I suppose I should just give in and accept it...I'm not 'Wonder Woman'!!!
I think knowing I'm off again soon is slightly distracting...working through everything that needs doing before another trip.
But I've got the thermals now at least! Gorgeous! ;D
I hope you have too cos we're going to need them! I'll pick you up early December so get packing again!
Have fun and enjoy WOYWW xox
Well, I spot an amazing red breasted robin on your workdesk..if that's not a piece of work...?! Mostly though, it's the light that grabs my attention..no better way to explain the turning of the earth than compare our two workrooms for light this week!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
DeleteYep Robbie was finished yesterday...well I think he's finished. I'm not sure but I'll check him out again later. ;D
It's always hard to know when enough is enough!
I love the light here and it's something that I'll miss so much when we leave ~ whenever that might be :(
Thanks for hosting yet again...you certainly had me on tenderhooks waiting for the numbers hehe.
Have fun and enjoy WOYWW :D
pleased the weather is warmer and your able to use your lovely studio.....i was thinking the cake was a real recipe and how my daughter might like a copy then......i realised and laughed!
ReplyDeleteHappy wednesday
Jackie 12
Hi Jackie,
DeleteI'm pleased it's warmed up too...believe me! ;D
I was hoping that people wouldn't take the recipe too seriously before they realised it was a joke. It's been quite amusing to see everyone's reaction.
I hope you had a happy Wednesday too and that it remains so for the rest of the week and into the weekend! :D
omgoodness what a cake!! now, when it says nut 1 is that the nut making it, is it just one nut or is it a cup of nuts!? well I had to ask! Happy Crafting! Have a great week. HaPpY WoyWw!?!
ReplyDelete((Lyn)))#42
Hi there Lyn,
DeleteAt that stage of the recipe I don't think it really matters how many nuts there are....hic! LOL
Glad you liked the recipe. ;D
Enjoy WOYWW and I'll see you soon :D
Hiccup.....burp.....oooh loves the cake! Your desk has an interesting image on the left corner. Thanks for the fun. Nan 93
ReplyDeleteLOL....Hi Nan,
DeleteThe cake has been a big hit! ;D
I had to check back on the image to see what it was and I'm thinking that it might be the Protea design which is on the calendar. It appears on my sidebar if you want to see it close up.
Again that's a popular design too.
Have a great week whatever you have planned and I'll pop over to see you soon :D
OOoh! Hic!! Typing out the recipe was enough work in itself, lol. Thanks for the recipe and carry on being festive! Less than 6 weeks to go! :0) Mo x
ReplyDeleteThese hiccups are terribly contagious aren't (hic) they Mo? ;D
DeleteThe cake recipe is the first festive thing I've done so I better get a move on.
Please don't do a count-down!!! Ahhh...I'm panic stricken as it is. I need some magic elves here to help. If you see any will you send them this way? :D
Have a great week whatever you're up to. Have fun...especially if you're baking Christmas cakes. LOL
love your neatness and the sweet little robin, thank you for the receipe as well lol, happy whats on your workdesk wednesday

NO.70
Well I've missed Wednesday and now Thursday is coming to a close too...I just wish I could slow this clock down a wee bitty! ;D
DeleteI'm not sure the desk is neat in my book but I'll take it from yours.
The robin is now finished or at least I think he's finished...never sure when to call it a day!
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you have planned and I'll be over to visit as soon as I can :D
I will be sharing your recipe LOL Somehow sharing my mess has taken all the guilt away .. just gonna keep doing what I do and cleaning it up every once in awhile. Coming to Canada for Christmas eh? Well do way as you fly over Vancouver Island! Sandi #105
ReplyDeleteIt's a great one for sharing Sandi, I just hope no-one starts to make it before they realise! ;D
DeleteI think your plan of doing what you do and cleaning up every once in awhile sounds perfect.
Yep it seemed a good idea to have Christmas in Canada but now the logistics is setting in I'm not so sure. Summer in Oz to winter in Canada in just a few hours flight!
Thermals are at the ready :D
I have a friend living on Vancouver Island...maybe you know Jenn from Just add water silly?
I'll be waving to her too. x
Great desk, and I always love that cake recipe!! Helen, #9
ReplyDeleteHi Helen,
DeleteSorry it's taken me so long to reply and I haven't even started visiting yet? I blame that cake recipe ;D
Hope your week went well and you're ready for a fantastic weekend :D
Hi Neesie, I'm having trouble typing, and my sides are hurting, and it's all your fault - that recipe is just sooooo funny :) I'm still chuckling and the cat is giving me funny looks, as is my husband ...
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks really busy from up here ... and I like the fellow with the red boots :)
Hope you've had a great WOYWW. Elizabeth x #112
LOL...oh that's so good to hear Elizabeth,
DeleteI thought it was such a laugh too when I read it so wanted to pass it on.
I don't blame the cat for giving you sideward glances ^..^
Don't be fooled by the busy desk...unfortunately it's all an illusion! :(
I've only managed the robin since being back and I'm not sure I'm finshed with him yet.
It doesn't look like I'll have time for more Christmassy designs. (Note to self start in July next year!)
I hope you had a good week and that you're all set to enjoy the weekend. Have fun! :D
Just loved the recipe - could hardly read it out to hubby for laughing! Thought the daughters might like me to make it for Christmas??!! Your desk looks very productive - is it good to be back in your own space?
ReplyDeleteMargaret
Oh it is good to be back Margaret but I've just got to get active in it now. Not a lot happening so far I'm afraid and now panic is beginning to set in I don't suppose that will be conducive to creating any artwork!
DeleteHo hum....
Glad you liked the recipe. I read it out to my hubby too and we were both laughing. It certainly does you good even without the baking! ;D
I can't believe it's nearly the weekend but enjoy no matter what you have planned. :D
how did you manage to have such an organised desk after all that vodka!
ReplyDeletejanet #31
ps must try that recipe
The desk is tidy Janet because after baking that cake there's not much work going on!!! lol
DeleteI can't believe we're at the end of the week already...I hope it's been a good one for you.
Enjoy your weekend and I'll pop over to visit as soon as I can ;D
Hi Neesie,
ReplyDeleteI can see lots of fun things on your desk this week. I bet you are still recovering from all your travels, which just looked like so much fun. I really enjoyed the posts and history lessons.
I'm not joining in this week (I have been VERY sporadic in posting lately) but wanted to stop in to see what you've been up to.
Hugs,
Kay
Hi Kay,
DeleteYep still trying to get back into some sort of routine which is difficult normally without Christmas coming up and biting me!
I find it rather difficult here at this time of year because you have all the main summer events and activities plus trying to fit Christmas in too.
I really am so far off the mark it's untrue and then we plan to head off to Canada soon!
I can't believe we're at the end of yet another week...but we obviously are! I hope you had a good one and are ready to enjoy the weekend whatever you have planned.
I'll pop over to have a peek soon promise! :D
Hey, there is paint on your desk, and that makes everything good!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that recipe DOES sound good . . . ;)
:)trisha
#122ish this week
Hi Trisha,
DeleteYep there's paint but its old and dry paint...nothing new I'm afraid.
I had hoped to do some Christmas designs but have only managed one!
Well I suppose one is better than none! ;D
Can't believe the weekend is almost here but I plan to make good use of it. I hope you do too ~ enjoy! :D
Loving the red breast!! Can't think of Christmas yet, have missys 21st next week. As you know I hate cooking but I'm so frazzled with overseas visitors coming and getting the party organised, so I thought you could make one and bring it up with you. I'll put the kettle on!!
ReplyDelete:) Von #44
Yeah I got caught in the sun yesterday gardening...OH you mean my robin! Whoops sorry...lol ;D
DeleteI think we should delay Christmas till about February? What do you think?
Do you think everyone will go for it? Nah...I thought not! :$
Well I suppose we're just going to have to get a wiggle on!
I'll certainly get busy in the kitchen for you sweetie. I haven't done any baking etc for ages. You must be nearly ready with all of the party arrangements! I do hope the birthday girl is aware of how much effort goes into these things :$
I hope you're not too stressed...but don't worry I'm on my way!
Stay calm and keep taking deep breaths :D
Is that a drawing of a robin redbreast in a tux? He looks fab! Thanks so much for the recipe, it's going in my cake book:) x
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Lucy! Well spotted ;D
DeleteI'm not sure if he's finished? I always have difficulty knowing when to stop!
I did want to create lots of designs for Christmas but I think the time is just running away with me, so I'll take note and make sure I start much earlier next year. Going to New Zealand wasn't really on the plan so near to Christmas, but hey what can you do? lol
I think the cake recipe will be a great success ~ Have fun :D
Oh what lovely stuff you have on your desk. Lots to inspire us. Have just had this vodka cake sent to me on facebook and am thinking of trying it with brandy as vodka make me cry!!!! It is so funnyit should cheer anybody up.
ReplyDeleteTricia #74
Oh I wish my desk would inspire me Tricia,
DeleteBut really I have no excuse...it's a fantastic room, desk and has the best light so I just need to get tough with myself and get on!
Oooh...I think the brandy recipe might be very nice...I'm going to have to try that one too HIC!
Plus I hear there's a similar one for whisky!!! ;D
It could be a very good Christmas. LOL
Have a great weekend whatever you're up to ~ have fun! :D
That recipe I have to try sounds lovely :) got a 1st and 3rd birthday to get through before starting to think of christmas so on the back burner abit here.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Oh I think you should definitely bake that cake and make sure there's some for the little darlings parents too.
DeleteThey just might stay at the party and help! ;D
I remember 1st and 3rd Birthdays...in fact I remember them all and mine are now 20 and 27! :D
Good Luck is all I can say...but because you are being such a good girl I think Santa might be very good to you too!

Your desk/table is absolutely beautiful and organized looking! I think you have started something with Christmas red!
