Thursday Thunderstorms and Icecream

When I started blogging I really had no idea that it would become such a big part of my life. I look at everything differently now. I plan and form blog posts in my head, take photos thinking what my followers might like to see or be interested in. I had no idea it would be such a big part of my life and routine. But having said that I never wanted to feel pressurized into having to post or obliged to post regularly. If I missed a few days it shouldn't have mattered... not really... but it did. Not posting over the last few weeks has been tougher than I thought. Maybe a little too tough which is worrying. Perhaps I'll analyse all of this another time.
For now I'll just enjoy getting back to blogging.
(Flowers picked from my own garden...
at last some of the hard work is paying off)

I don't really know where I'll start because so much has happened over the last few weeks. It can be a little daunting thinking back...
to know where to start, so I'll just start and see where it leads.
It'll probably be better writing small regular posts then getting carried away as can so easily happen.

I've had visitor's from Australia... two lot's to be precise, which was wonderful.
A little of Melbourne coming to call.
Thankfully, the atrocious 'summer' weather improved for both visits.
(Here's a scene from my window this morning)

You may have heard from the media that we've had soaring temperatures... and that we're all virtually melting!
Well, let me tell you we've been fine up here in Scotland.
In fact it's been just about perfect.
In the mid 20's (70+ Fahrenheit) unlike further down South.
I can't imagine what it must be like playing tennis in 41 degrees as Andy Murry did on the centre court of Wimbledon.

We had a fantastic thunderstorm last night.
Nothing like the storms we used to witness when we lived in Brunei, but nevertheless pretty spectacular.
There's been lot's of reports and guidelines advising how to stay cool and prevent overheating or dehydration.
Here's Muffy's advice...
I hope you're staying chilled and enjoying life this Thursday.
Thanks for visiting and I hope we can chat again soon.

  1. So nice you are having great weather for your Australian visitors. It is in the 70s where we live also, in California. Parts of California are in the 100s, and our milder climate attracted us to this area. The view of the fields from your window is pretty.

    1. Wasn't it just Terra, my email requesting such must have got to the right department after all.
It's a great view isn't it... I adore it. Everyday and at any time it can have something new for me to look at and appreciate.
Mid 70's suits me fine too. I've lived in countries where the temperature reached 40C+ (104 F) and it's not pleasant.
As I'm typing now the Haar (sea mist) is rolling onshore and making the temperature drop by at least 10 degrees. It looks spectacular creeping up to engulf us but I don't want it to stay. Hopefully it won't.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks so much for your lovely comment.

    1. It was indeed Laurie... I hope to write a blog post soon (she says crossing her fingers)
I thought Muffy would have that effect. She now has her own Instagram account... I know I can't believe it either! She's got 90 followers already!
It's lovely to have you visit too and I feel things will resume a normal(ish) pattern now. Well as normal as life can be around me ;D

  3. Ooh, your flowers are gorgeous! Well done you!
How nice to have old friends come visit and from such a long way away too and I'm glad our weather bucked up for them.
Muffy is so cute tasting that yummy coolness.
I shan't say, I don't like the heat, but I do prefer a little more cloud and cool breezes, lol.

    1. I love to wander into the garden Mo and pick bunches of flowers to come into the house. Then I can look and appreciate them whenever I want to.
There's always flowers dotted around the house. I have two hay fever sufferers but they don't complain or ask me to remove them. Maybe they don't associate the two so for now I enjoy the profits of my labour.
We had a lovely time having the visitors and I must admit I was relieved that the weather behaved. It did the same last year too.
Well now let's talk heat... by heat do you mean into double figures? Hehe
I have to confess I've been in HOT and chilly climes and I must admit I don't like either (fussy eh?) I like the middle range... say mid 20'sC (high 70's F).
At the moment the Haar is rolling up the hill so our temperature has just dropped!
Hopefully it won't hang around for too long.
Enjoy your Friday evening and have a fun packed weekend.
      Great to have you visit

  4. Love the pic of the field! Did you notice the bird swooping in the middle of the sky? Cool.! I call dibs on the ice cream. :) Slang for me first. ;) :) You just be plumb tuckered out after so much company and all the comings n goings n sight seeing n cooking. Whew. Sit back with a cuppa and enjoy your flowers. I am. Hugs

    1. Hello Nan, great to see you... it seems ages since we chatted,
I certainly did notice the seagull swooping. I took three photo's as the farmer went scooting past, but chose that one because of the bird. I'm thrilled that you noticed it. I know the term dibs (we also have bagsy too)
It is tiring having visitors but it's so worth it. I do tend to try to spoil all my visitors. I think that if someone makes an effort to come and visit then they deserve it. I mean, coming 12,000 miles is no mean feat. (I know they haven't just come to see me but still)
I had quite a lot of work to do in the garden... there's no stopping it at this time of the year, but after two days of reigning it in again I've slowed down today. Cuppa here by my side along with my trusty shadow curled up like a coiled spring... I think not... judging by the snores ^..^
Enjoy your Friday/weekend and I hope to see you again soon.

    1. Aww thanks so much Karen, it feels good to be back.
I wanted to have a painting ready for today but I'm afraid that'll not happen.
It's supposed to be a wet weekend so maybe that'll give me an excuse to nip into the studio and get creative. Oh I do hope so.
Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned and thanks for stopping by my place. Hope you get your groove soon ;D

  7. Gorgeous flowers--and a pretty great flower arranger you are, also.
Muffy knows how to beat the heat. You have been busy!
We've been in the 80s (F) which is too hot for me. I can't imagine temps in the 100s!
Nice to see you back...and Muffy. ;)

    1. Hehe... thanks Rita,
Sometimes the flower arrangements go better than others. I was pleased with this one especially as everything was produced from my own garden.
It can be a little daunting and hard work at times but when it produces rewards like this it makes it seem all worthwhile. I smile every time I look at it.
Muffy likes the heat but she's always up for a little ice-cream whether it's warm or not. Minx ^..^
It's great to be back and to see you too
Hopefully life has treated you well whilst I've been gone. I'll nip to check on you soon. Enjoy your weekend.
      Stay cool

Thanks for your visit and lovely comment. I won't pass on your comment about Muffy because she already knows and is unbearable ^..^ She even has her own Instagram account now... yeah I know... slippery slope and all that!
Have fun and enjoy this weekend and hopefully I'll nip to see you soon.

  9. Those flowers look better than the ones I could buy at a florist. So beautiful that they're from your own garden. We're seriously experiencing the heat here. it's been an average of about 28 degrees with humidex into the low thirties for weeks now and there's little abatement that's gonna happen any time soon. I've never experienced heat like this for days on end, gotta admit, my asthma doesn't like it one bit.
Muff looks happy. Scritches to her and hugs to you my friend. enjoy that beautiful weather and smell the roses for me, Ok?

    1. Aww bless you Jenn,
One thing I love to do is to wander around the garden and collect enough flowers, blooms and greenery to make up a bouquet.
This garden is very generous because I can do that for most weeks of the year.
There's got to be so reward for all the hard work.
I hope your temperatures have stayed at a comfortable level. Mine haven't... we have an Arctic wind today... an I'm still in thermals IN JULY!!!
Muffy sends you her love and me too.
Have a great week and I'll pop over to see you soon.
