I'm so late posting today, but quite frankly I'm just thankful to be here at all.
(sorry that sounds rather dramatic doesn't it? ... let me explain)
Basically, yesterday I couldn't even get out of bed!
Literally!
I've heard and even used the term "I have a bad back... I couldn't get it off the bed", but this time it was true! I have no idea what happened, but after a sleepless troubled night, I found that I just couldn't move one way or another. Excruciating pain had me completely in it's grip.
The pain was untrue and if there had been a gas and air option, then I'd have grabbed it with both hands. One minute I would be laughing at the absurdity of the situation and the next shedding a few tears, because basically I was so scared that I just couldn't move.
Hubby wanted to call an ambulance, but I managed to persuade him not to and finally, thankfully I managed to stand vertically. Which is just as well because by this time I needed to visit the bathroom (desperately) and I didn't like hearing my hubbies different options of dealing with this problem!
Enough said!
I normally try to be positive on my blog posts because I think everyone has their own issues, health worries, problems and generally don't need other people's troubles, but if you are suffering in any way with pain or worries, I hope you find a way of dealing with them, or that they disappear completely.
So finally let's get onto the business in hand... what have I managed to create this week.
I've had appointments which have eaten into my creative time, but if you remember the silk paintings from my post last week, I've taken the tropical tree frog design and drawn this cheerful chap...
I've still got to add a few details and to rub out the pencil marks, but he makes me smile.
I suppose it's quite appropriate posting this drawing as it is Earth Day too.
I'm aware that I had lots of lovely visitors last week and that I haven't got around to visiting you all... yet... but I will.
In the meantime, thanks for visiting and I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead.
As usual I'm joining in with Paint Party Friday
Click above on the PPF link if you'd like to see more art.
Thanks Eva and Kristin for hosting once again.
I'm also linking into Alexandra's Sunday Sketches
Thanks Alexandra for hosting the Sunday link and providing so much inspiration.
Lovely sketch! So glad you were able to stand on your own, you poor thing. Hope your back is well and healthy soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn, yep I'm improving by the hour now and I hopefully I'll never experience it again.
DeleteEnjoy your weekend... Happy PPF to you
Beautiful sketch, so sorry to hear about your back, please keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words Christine,
DeleteI'm feeling so much better today now that I've become attached to a hot water bottle!
Love our frog sketch. Hope you feel better now, take care! Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks, he was fun to draw Valerie,
DeleteI'm feeling better by the hour today... but it certainly was strange.
Oh Denise, except for the silk painting bit, I could have almost written your post. A couple of times this week, I have had such lower back and hip pain I could hardly move. Then I discovered that the pillow I had in the chair to boost me up to the correct height to use my laptop on the d. r. table was the culprit. I think. I have removed said pillow and now the height is not right. Your froggie is wonderful and just perfect for Earth Day!
ReplyDeleteOh no Faye,
DeleteIt's good that you've been able to work out what caused the problem and I hope that you can work out how to work at the correct height without any consequences.
I have no idea what caused mine, but I'm thankful that it's easing now and I can at least move about a little more freely.
Hot water bottles are brilliant!
Happy Earth Day and PPF to you
I am so sorry about your back pain...I am fortunate in that I have never suffered back pain but there must be few more debilitating problems..I hope you are on the mend soon. Your frog drawing is beautiful..hoping the sun shines on you.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a back problem before and I think that's why it was so scary. Thankfully it's on the mend now, but I'd like to know what caused it. Anyway, on a lighter note, we've had some lovely sunshine during this past week. I believe there's an icy blast coming our way. I must admit I don't like the sound of, but it's only for a few days. Let's hope that'll be it then.
DeleteTemperatures will start to rise. Fingers crossed!
Oh U am loving your frog sketch!! oooh I do know that pain. I had sciatica flare ups when I was working and it was due to twisting and lifting. Sometimes it WAS that bad that I was barely able to get to the bathroom or take a few steps. This could be what your issue was too. That or a disc that slipped. So glad you were able to finally move about but be careful. I hope it doesn't occur again!
ReplyDeleteHehe... thanks Linda,
DeleteI spoke to my Doctor about what happened and apparently it wasn't sciatica. I certainly don't want it to happen again, so I'm being careful and not being silly trying to do too much too soon.
I'm due to see the Doctor again next week... so may get some more answers then.
Lovely frog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karla, I don't normally draw frogs, but I'm pleased with this little guy.
DeleteHope you back is better...necessity can make us do heroic things sometimes. Totally darling frog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran, I've had to give in to this, which is very unusual for me... but there's no much of an option although thankfully it is starting to improve.
DeleteYour sweet little tree frog peeking in the rainforest makes me smile too. I'm sorry to hear about that dreadful morning experience, but glad to hear you appear to be doing well now. I don't want to sound like your husband, but if it recurs, you may consider going to the doctor. Back problems can be scary. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words Arnoldo,
DeleteI'm happy that you like my sketch and due to pressure from family members I have an appointment to see a Doctor on Monday.
Blessings to you too. Happy PPF
Hope you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteI love your sketch, simply amazing...
Aww thank you for your kind words. I'm amazed I've got anything to show the PPF link up today.
DeleteI'm doing okay now thanks. Happy PPF to you
What a fantastic drawing, Neesie.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend xx
Thank you Sirkkis, he was fun to draw.
DeleteI hope you are enjoying your weekend too.
Do hope you are feeling better, Nessie! Back pain is no joke. Hope you are able to get some lasting help. That being said I ADORE your little Toadie! Absolutely smashing. Be well, and hopefully enjoy the weekend. healing hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteWell I never mentioned that my hubby very kindly passed on a cold to me too. He's so kind and generous, so it wasn't just my back giving me troubles. Thankfully both are improving, so your healing hugs must have worked Donna.
DeleteI'm happy to hear that you adore my little wee frog/toad too.
Have fun and I wish you a wonderful weekend whatever you have planned.
Well it sounds like you are doing somewhat better. Do let us know because we do care!
ReplyDeleteYour drawing, as always, is amazing - simply amazing. I am not much of one for frogs but I found him quite funny!
Sandy xx
Aww I am thanks Sandy, you're very kind.
DeleteAlthough I could have done without my kind, generous hubby passing on his cold to me... which hasn't made it much fun this week.
I'm happy you like my frog when you aren't a fan usually. I'll take that as a compliment.. Thanks. I don't think I'm a huge fan either, but I think this one is a wee cutie.
Back pain is one of the worst. I'm glad you are still functioning enough to paint and draw...or semi-functioning, as the case may be. I wish you well--literally. Love and hugs!! :)
ReplyDeleteWell I certainly can't complain when I think about what you have to deal with Rita. I'd actually sketched most of the drawing before my back played up, other wise I might have had to miss this weeks PPF.
DeleteI hope you are having a wonderful weekend and thanks for your well wishes
Dearest Denise...we have had something so similar at our house... I am going to pm you!! Hope you feel better soon!! Love your sketch...
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Hello there Giggles, oh that sounds ominous.
DeleteI'll keep an eye out for your message.
In the meantime take care x
I had the same thing happen to me with my back and it eventually cleared up. It really is scary when something like that happens, isn't it! Glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAnd love the frog amidst all the beautiful plants drawing.
Happy Sunday Sketches!
I'm glad you like the drawing and frog. He was fun to draw even though I'm not that fond of frogs.
DeleteHappy Sunday Sketches to you too.
What a fun and lovely frog. I'm so sorry you were in so much pain, I hope you feel better and better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, I think I'm on the road to recovery now.
DeleteGlad you like the frog too.
Love the frog sketch and do hope you are healing ~ sending lots of healing energy your way ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you ~ ^_^
Your healing energy seems to be working Carol... I'm feeling so much better thank you.
DeleteHappy that you liked my frog too.
Have a great creative week
I hope you are feeling better by now, back pain is horrible -_-
ReplyDeleteThe drawing is looking good!
I have to admit Ayala it wasn't pleasant and took me by complete surprise.
DeleteThanks for visiting and liking my drawing.
Hello Neesie, that sounds absolutely awful and very frightening. Luckily back problems often sort themselves out and I hope that is the case with you, and that it is all much better now.
ReplyDeleteYour frog drawing is terrific, love the way he is looking at us with those big eyes.
Wonderful frog! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute frog!
ReplyDeleteHope your back is calm now...
I've been busy sewing again. It's fun but time consuming :)
It's certainly a very lovely sketch, Denise, and look forward to seeing you finish the detail and colour it in.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week. :)
