My Sunday Photo... Hygge Home

It's time for the boxes containing our Christmas decorations to emerge from the dark depths of the attic.
I'm not sure that I'm ready for this, but if I don't start to get my act together soon, then it'll be Easter before I know it!
We do have the odd decoration dotted about already, but that's more in keeping with embracing the 'hygge' way of life.
It’s a lovely word which translates into English as 'cosiness'
We are certainly enjoying having a hygge home
'Hygge' is a Danish word pronounced 'hoo-ga'
Denmark is regularly voted one of the happiest countries in the world, so maybe there's something in this new trend.
I apologise for the poor quality of this photograph, but I wanted to give you the full effect.
Candles, cosy fires, fairy lights, warm slippers, fur cushions and throws, a glass of red wine and of course the fluffy dog!
So do you have a 'hugge' home or are you all decked out for the Christmas festivities?

As usual I'm linking up this Sunday with Photalife
Maybe I'll see you over there?
Have a great Sunday and thanks for visiting my place.

It'll look even better once I get the Christmas garland and decorations around it.

    1. We try Sherry, especially as the winter days draw on. It can be quite grey and dreich (dreary and bleak) as they say here.
Our own space is so important to our well being... that I think it's only sensible to make the most of everything surrounding us.
I'm not feeling brave or energetic enough to start on the Christmas decorations today... but tomorrow is a whole new day!

Lots of colour of course! We have less decorations than in the past and I am fine with that! I am more about the lights...Thanks for sharing!

    1. Aww thank you Giggles, it's a great house so I feel it's only right that I should do it justice in presenting it to the best of my abilities. I love it!
'Hygge' isn't just for over the winter months... but I think it's probably best explained at this time of year. It's a feeling... and by having things comfortable in your space or having quality 'me' time then you get the 'hygge' idea.
I go our full pelt on the decorations front, but not as much as my sister who I have now started to call 'Mrs Santa'. It's her most favourite time of the year.
      Hugs back to you!

  4. Not really....more a case of living in a very dis-organised home but decorations will soon be going up! Love your place though, looks very stylish. #MySundayPhoto

    1. Thanks John, I think it helps with me having grown up kiddy-winks.
I still go crazy with the decorations and like you I will put them up soon. The tree alone will take me a whole day, but it's so worth it!
Besides I can then put the Christmas music on and have a wee nip of sherry, whilst I'm decorating the place. All essential to get that producing the grotto effect! (hehe)

  5. Hi Neesie, your room does look nice and cozy. Denmark must be doing something right, but then if all the their homes are Hygge it's not a surprise.

We've yet to even get the Christmas boxes out of the loft. Soon though.

    xx

    1. Oh not to worry Debbie because my boxes are all still shut! I may start tomorrow. The tree alone will take a whole day to decorate, but with the Christmas music playing and a wee nip of sherry, it'll be a pleasant job, with the wonderful reward at the end.
      Enjoy your Sunday

    1. My pleasure Darren, I know that the quality of the photograph isn't the best, but this one was more for the atmosphere.
Thanks for hosting and I hope your Sunday is great, with a fantastic week ahead.

    1. Thanks Sarah, I think it's so important to have your personal space comfortable and cosy... but not only in the winter months. It's the feeling that your home gives you. Someone once said to me that you shouldn't have things around you that you don't love.
I know sometimes that can't always be the case, but it's saved me from purchasing many wrong choices, when I've been indecisive! I ask myself " well do you love it" and if the answer is no then I don't buy it!

    1. (hehe) Thanks Kim, it's so important to me living here that we are cosy especially with the darker winter days. I miss the light from when I lived in Australia, so I embrace the grey darkness by making it pretty and as comfortable as I can. It helps me get through to spring!

  9. I love your fire and the cosiness of it all. I'm not quite sure what Hygge is and I think I need to read more about it but I think we're getting more Hygge by the day at the moment :)

    1. 'Hygge' isn't just for winter time, although it is perhaps easier to explain at this time. It's to surround yourself with comfort and the things you love. It's also about spending time doing the things you love... like having a beautiful comfortable corner for reading one of your favourite books. Candles and an ambience that makes you feel relaxing and stress free. I hope this explanation helps :D

  10. It certainly looks cozy! People have told me my homes over the years are cozy and comfortable. I thought it might be a polite way of saying crowded and packed to the gills--LOL! But I am always surrounded by things I love that make me happy. Sounds like a great trend to me. ;)
