Snow slate scene... and surgery PPF/Sunday Sketches

My hubby has been using the laptop for most of the day, so apologies for arriving so late.
This is a post of two halves... the first being some artwork and the second about Muffin and her recent emergency surgery.

So let's get started...
Part 1 - I finally finished painting the roof slate and thought you might like to see it.
Here's the finished article.
The inspiration came from a few places...
... a chalk cat drawing on a blackboard, left over roof tiles and a very talented illustrator called Kirsten Sevig from Minnesota.
If you'd like to take a look at some of her work click here

I enjoyed painting the roof slate far more than I thought I would.
I wasn't even sure that the paint would work on the tile.
But I was pleasantly surprised.
For anyone wanting to know what paint I used.
Daler Rowney Acrylic Ink worked so well.
I've really enjoyed the project, so who knows I might just paint some more of the left over roof tiles.
I'm linking up with the

Have fun and a great weekend

Part 2 - Some of you may already know that I took Muffin to the vet's earlier in the week.
She had developed a lump on her abdomen and it needed to be checked.
To keep this brief... the Vet recommended that she should have it taken out and we decided the sooner the better, which meant that she was whisked in for surgery the next morning.

Everyone at the surgery was incredibly friendly, professional and so caring.
(Thank you to all the staff at the Town and Country Veterinary Hospital)
Muffin obviously played her cute card and it worked really well.
Off she trotted with the surgery nurse and she didn't even give her snivelling owner a glance!
She had the operation with fluids administered throughout and she came trotting out of the surgery later that afternoon.
I couldn't believe just how 'with it' she was, especially after having such a major operation.
She has to wear a surgical suit that looks like a spandex workout outfit.
It just looks like she's come back from the gym!
To give you some idea... it's like a baby grow and will keep her wound clean and safe until it heals.
It was the vet's idea to wear this suit instead of the usual collar.
I must admit I rather like this look.
It's just unfortunate that all the red suits weren't in her size.
Now that would have been very seasonal.
Sorry about the quality of these photographs, but it was taken later that same evening.
Here she is in the surgery suit eating her evening meal.
I was astounded by how much she eat that night.
She completely cleaned this bowl out and had three extra portions of chicken.
We are to revisit the vet for her to check on progress and also to find out if the lump is something nasty.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contacted us, either through emails, Instagram or Facebook to pass on their best wishes, positive thoughts, messages and prayers.
It was lovely to know that so many friends out there were thinking about us.

If you are squeamish or just about to eat, then you may not want to scroll down any further.
She had 5 stitches... which is quite a size on such a wee toot, but she's a tough cookie and progressing nicely.
It looks like she's been for a little nip'n'tuck!

I think after that photo I'd better sign off.
Thanks for your visit and I hope I will see you again soon.
xoxo

    1. We had lots of left over root tiles Linda, so I thought I'd have a go at painting it. I had so much fun and was quite pleased with the result.
Muffy is a tough little cookie, so we're hoping that tomorrow's follow up with the vet goes well. Happy PPF to you too.

  5. Oh, your slate snow scene painting is just lovely! And best wishes to brave little Muffin! I've never heard of a surgery suit before but yes, that is SO much better than a cone. And I'm sure much more comfortable for the little dog.

    1. Thanks Debra,
The suit was brilliant, but only as long as everyone remembers to undo the poppers and lift the flaps at toilet time! Yep someone forgot and I'm glad to say it wasn't me!

  6. That is wonderful news, what an adorable trooper and she looks quite fetching in that outfit. At first glance it looks like a little Hufflepuff outfit from Harry Potter, hahaha. Your roof slate turned out quite beautifully with the slate offering a cool and unique background.

    1. Thanks so much for your lovely comment Deb, I had fun with painting the slate and think I'll probably do more.
Muffin thankfully has made a full recovery. She was brilliant... for more so that me. I was a woos!
But only because she means so much to me. I was so worried the result wouldn't be good even though I was trying to be so positive.
The surgery suit worked brilliantly as long as we remembered to undo the poppers and lift the flaps at toilet time. Say no more!

  12. Where do I start - I know with Muffin -- you have no idea how much I want to kiss that puss of hers. Do let us know when you get the biopsy results back. I know one think - you have an incredibly good vet and Muffin must have been quite healthy to begin with.

Now to the fantastic roof tile - wonderful Denise. I don't know what else to say because it is so darn good!
    Merry Christmas!

    1. Doesn't it just Jenn... like a baby grow and so much better than those collars. The only trouble is you have to remember to unpop the poppers and lift the flaps before she goes out to the toilet.
Yep someone forgot one day and thankfully it wasn't me.

  15. glad Muffin is OK :) the surgery site looks nice and neat, no sign of infection.

the texture of the slate works really with your painting :)

sky has a lump on her side too, but the vet took a small sample last time we were there and its just fatty fluid, nothing to worry about thankfully

    1. All good on the Muffy front thankfully. I'm happy to say that she's been given a clean bill of health from the vet.
We weren't sure about Muffy's lump so it had gone a little hard over a couple of weeks when we were keeping an eye on it. The vet thought it was best to remove it especially as we were going away for Christmas. She didn't want to leave it and then it turn into something nasty.
I just hope she doesn't develop another

  16. Im glad Muffin is OK after her surgery. I must take my cat to the vet in the new year to be neutered, which is necessary because I don't want her having lots of kittens, but still I dont really like the idea of surgery. Just wondering if they have the 'pill' for cats? I love the way the painted slate turned out. I like daler rowney acrylics for glazing in art! Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

    1. Muffin has had three surgeries over her thirteen years. One desexing in Australia, one for teeth cleaning here and now this latest surgery to remove the lump. She has been great each time thanks to brilliant vets. The expertise is exceptional so I'm sure your cat will be fine. Have to admit the pill would be the easier option.
Christmas has gone now (apologies for my slow to reply) so I'll wish you a Happy New Year.

  25. Firstly, your slate painting is gorgeous! The texture of the slate works perfectly with the theme.

Secondly, I'm so glad Muffin is okay and I pray the results come back as benign. Quite scary when things like that happen but Muffin took it in her stride. Such a cutie!

Merry Christmas to you and your family ~ :)
