Circular Quay Sydney ~ tick!

At last I've been able to tick a huge box on my list today...I've arrived in Sydney at last.
It's been on my list for quite some time and I hoped that when I finally arrived it wouldn't be a disappointment especially the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
I can safely say it wasn't.

In March I wrote a post about the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrating her 80th birthday but I didn't think  that I'd be able to see her in the flesh so soon.
She really is something and I must admit I was so pleased that she is such a fantastic icon.
And then you turn to the right and there's another icon...the Opera House.

I've seen both icons so many times in pictures, photographs, the news and TV programmes but really nothing compares to standing and seeing them up close and personal. They really are something!
The Circular Quay is the hub of Sydney Harbour, situated at a small inlet called Sydney Cove.
It is a stepping-off point for most attractions based around the harbour and an exciting place to be on a warm summer's day. The quay is a vibrant, bustling place with so much happening.
So we've sat awhile drinking in the atmosphere watching boats, ferries, helicopters and people passing by whilst having a cool refreshing drink. Cheers!
What a great way to spend an afternoon.

I just need to find Hugh Jackman now... :D

Don't worry Melbourne I still love you....

  1. Beautiful, just beautiful. What a pity I live on the other side of the world... (at least I can travel through your photos).

Hey, but no worries: I've just received a HUGE! parcel with TimTams from my family living in Australia. Best. Christmas. Gift. Ever. Yeay! :))))))

    1. That's what's so great about blogging Alex...all the lovely aspects of travelling without the hassles.
Firstly weight restrictions...and that doesn't mean Christmas excesses. No that means to try and cram everything you NEED (not want) into one case...now that was a challenge I have to say. How can you possibly travel from +35C degrees celsius to -12C degrees? (-12 last time I checked...but there's a possibility of much lower temperatures...Eek!)
Throw in skiing and snow activities plus Christmas to boot!!! IMPOSSIBLE!
But then you spend a day like today and it's all forgotten. ;D

So you like TimTams eh? I had one only yesterday with a cuppa.
      Perfect :D
By the way you say 'no worries just like a local...so what's the story there?
If I knew where your family lived I could say 'hi' from you.

Have a fantastic TimTam time over Christmas ~ enjoy and have lots of fun.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :))))

  2. Well fancy that Ros,
Unfortunately we will have moved on then or we could have met up for a coffee here instead of Melbourne ;D
I certainly like the look of everything I've seen so far and we'll carry on exploring tomorrow. I think we're on a river cruise in the morning so that'll be great. The weather has perfect too...not too hot like Melbourne today. Phewph!
I was thrilled to see the patterns on the curves of the Opera House especially after drawing them.
It was very surreal standing before it after so long. I think I'd like to come for New Year but it won't be this year.
    Canada calls.... YAY!!! :D
Have a wonderful time over the Christmas and New Year period.
Good Luck and Best wishes for 2013 ;D

  3. Right I've caught up & I'm here! Wow what a view. I can only imagine the feeling of being there, doesn't matter how many pics you see you just can't beat seeing something in the flesh, I felt like that with Eiffel Tower & Louvre last year in Paris. Enjoy your adventures lovely. Take care Zo x

    1. Oh how I wish I had caught up Zo...but I'll keep at it. ;D
I was going to post so much more about Sydney but we're now in Canada so it seems a little late now.
We will stop over again on our way back to Melbourne so maybe I can write more then.
I remember the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre but the one memory that always immediately comes to mind was when we were walking around the city using a guide book of walks and suddenly from out of a little side street we came right in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral! Wow it was so impressive and took me by surprise. My hubby hadn't told me what was coming up...we were on our 10th Wedding Anniversay surprise trip (there's so much that I could write here so I'm thinking maybe I should write a post on it one day).
I hope you are enjoying the pre Christmas preparations.
Have fun, laughter and enjoy yourself...Merry Christmas xoxo

  6. Picture this:
Dishevelled woman, still in dressing gown and somewhat asleep (having not yet consumed her morning cuppa) takes the bins out (as a favour to her son who has just started his school holidays and deserved a sleep in) Woman checks the mail and finds envelope addressed to hers truly. Woman opens envelope and is greeted by THE CUTEST REINDEER EVER (Insert huge smile) Woman opens card and reads THE LOVELIEST MOST THOUGHTFUL AND UNEXPECTED CHRISTMAS GREETING EVER (insert high pitched squeal and silly happy dance) Woman runs into house and shows Hubby who patiently accepts crazed excitement and comments: "That is a heck of a cute reindeer" ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥

Thank you so so much. It really is a delight receiving proper snail mail and even more of a delight when it's as unexpected and thoughtful and sweet as your creative card. Merriest of Christmas's to you & your family. I hope you have the best time ever and I look forward to many more exchanges in the future!! xx ♥♥♥

    1. LOL...I'm so thrilled to read your reaction to my little card. I read it quite a few days ago but unfortunately didn't get the chance to reply until now (well its midnight and I really shouldn't be on here now but I couldn't ignore it any longer ♥)
I have had similar reactions myself when I received surprise snail mail from wonderful fellow bloggers and it makes you feel special and certainly brings a smile to my face whenever I look at their thoughtful gifts.
I wish you and your family the best Christmas ever with lots of love and laughter. ♥♥♥

  7. Well, I beat you to it on this one! We visited that area some years ago on a holiday. We loved the Rocks area too - especially the pavement artists. Bought one or two lovely souvenirs too, including some additions to our collection of plates/dishes. Oh, and a Diggeridoo for our daughter. That was a real pain to cart round the rest of the world, I can tell you! I'm just loving your photos of blue sky right now.

    1. I'm so late replying to your comment Mark...my apologies but I have crossed the world since then!
We visited the Rocks too before leaving. I have to say I've left the Diggeridoo's...I can imagine what you must have gone through to cart one around.

Trying to catch up with all the comments so maybe we'll chat again in a wee whilie ;D
