Paint Party Friday... Art Workshop

As I mentioned previously we had visitors staying over Easter but just before they arrived I had a place booked into a watercolour workshop. It wasn't the best of timings for me personally, as I was mentally out to lunch quite literally... planning menu's and venues for the visitors but I wasn't going to miss the workshop.
Even though I was distracted I had a great time catching up with Sofia Perina-Miller.
I have been to a previous workshop and painted the autumn leaf (click here if you'd like to see more) using the paints and paper that Sofia recommended.
I just love, love love them... there I've said it!
Here's Sofia giving a demonstration of her talent and unique colourful creativity.
She is so incredibly inspiring
No pencils or rubber in sight... just straight in with a loaded brush and she's away!
I could watch her all day but that's not what she wants...
she just wants everyone to have a go, play and enjoy!
I just adore her paint box... you can see that it's lived!
She really does see that much colour in everything she sees.
She painted a daffodil but focused more on the bulb which is the last thing I would have done, but it was spectacular and so colourful.
Sofia makes you look at things differently... for example just take a look at her sunflower above.
Although, as I say I had other things on my mind on the day... I wasn't happy with what I painted whilst there, so I decided to have another attempt at painting daffodils this week.
Well it's that time isn't it?
(Aberdeen is completely covered with them on every grass verge and public grass slope. It really is a spectacular sight just now)
If you missed my last post which shows the progression of the painting then click here

Thanks to Sofia and the Jack Tierny Gallery for running these great workshops. They do an amazing job providing a fantastic location, refreshments, art supplies, expertise and friendly helpful guidance and advice when needed.

I've actually produced a painting that I don't mind looking at... and that's quite something!
I'm linking up with Eva and Kristin over at the Paint Party Friday once again.
Paint Party Friday

Enjoy your Friday... have fun and have a fantastic weekend everyone

  1. i can see why you enjoyed her workshop - love all those colours she brought out in her sunflower! Your daffodils are lovely and yes, they're everywhere up here too - between the daffs and the gorse bushes there's a profusion of yellow just now!

    1. My flowers seem so boring to Sofia's... if I look really closely though, I do see more colours than the obvious yellow and green, but not to the extent she does.
They are really stunning and she is so quick too.
The gorse is out here too... in fact there's quite an amount at the edge of the field and wood at the back of our house. What an amazing time with nature pulling out all of the stops.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend... enjoy this beautiful weather ;D

    1. Hi Deb! ;D
Aww thanks... you say the nicest things but I have to let you know that Sofia does the graphics (black lines and outlines) when the painting is finished.
I can't wait to have another go... that's how it gets me but I've been in the garden for the last two days. Everything is popping into life (along with the weeds) so I've been busy.
I hope you're enjoying good weather too. Thanks for taking the time to pop by and leave such a lovely encouraging comment.
      Hugs back to you

I'm really loving them and can't wait to have another play... but the weather is fantastic over the last few days so I've been playing in the garden.
      It's bursting into life!
I hope you're warming up at your end... I'll pop across to check soon
In the meantime have a wonderful weekend

  5. Oh how fun! Nothing like a course/another artist to make us see and paint with different eyes. The colors in her sunflower is spectacular!

    1. Whenever I've attended a course or workshop Minnemie, I always feel I've gained so much. The sunflower is spectacular, but everything I've seen her paint is like that.
She's so inspiring... not only towards her art work but for her whole approach and encouragement to others. She is incredibly giving and unselfish.
It's great to have you pop by... I'll be trying to do all of my visiting soon.
In the meantime have fun and enjoy your weekend.

  6. Those paint boxes are luscious and I love that sunflower, but I think your vase of flowers is totally gorgeous Denise! I bet cards etc made with it would be amazing.
Have a fabulous weekend. The forecast is looking dry, so I'll keep fingers crossed it stays that way ;)

    1. Aren't they just Mo, and the sunflower just a sight for sore eyes. Sofia also painted a hydrangea which was equally as stunning.
Thank you for such a lovely comment about my daffs... bless you ;D
I hope you're applying lots of suncream and taking time out to enjoy this tropical weather we're having. Or at least I hope you're having?
It's beer o-clock apparently so I'll do my rounds a little later.
Have fun and I'll see you soon

    1. Aww thank you Linda, I have to admit I was pleased with it and actually enjoyed painting it once I started.
Isn't the sunflower something but Sofia has so many amazing pieces that just pop with colour. It really is a delight to see her paint.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment. I really appreciate it.
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you get up to and hopefully the sun will shine

    1. Aww now Tracey... that's very kind of you to say, but I know there's so much more room for improving, but for now I'm happy.
Well now isn't that something for me to say that... so there's an improvement for a start?
Oh Muffty doesn't miss a trick as you know... she's giving you that look in the hopes that you'll give her some chicken ^..^
She's a lot happier this week as the temperature has started to rise. There's lots of sunshine and if she finds the right spot, out of the wind then she could be in Melbourne or Qatar (ha!) yeah right!
I hope you're having a great weekend and haven't eaten all of those chocolate bars? I know you say you don't like them, but I've been there before... buying some that I don't like, but as the supples dwindle it's amazing how standards can slip... just sayin... ;D

I was pleased with my bouquet but I will keep practicing.
I love the paints and feel they are helping me... but I still don't know them that well yet.
Thanks for your visit and comment. Have a great weekend whatever you have planned... enjoy!

Yep, all of the daffs are out now and the tulips are just about to pop too.
Don't you just love this time of year... everything coming to life after winter.
Thanks for your comment and although I've never been to Peterhead, I'll be sure to say 'hi' for you if I ever do.
      Have a great weekend

Sofia is so inspiring and makes me just get on with it... which is just what I need. I still get very nervous with a blank piece of paper... which is ridiculous I know but I can't help it!
Thanks for letting me know about the link but I tried to reenter but it wouldn't let me. I also tried to delete the first entry but it wouldn't let me. Oh to be techy savy and be able to sort these things.
Hugs back to you and thanks for visiting.
Enjoy your weekend and I'll visit you soon.
